Sioux Falls

Bagels, boba, book hauls, plant parenting tips, SIX the Musical, art that heals, superhero parties, food truck nights, Mario Kart dancing, and more.
Happy Tuesday! You know the drill – grab your coffee (or whatever you sip in the morning), kick back, and let BaseLocal serve up everything you need to know for the week ahead:
- Graduation amid protests 🎓
- Car theft warnings 🚓
- Donate and save 🩸
- Things to do 📆
Let’s get to it.
📰 In the news
Sioux Falls car thefts trending down, but risk remains: While car thefts are declining in Sioux Falls, police warn that over 80% of stolen vehicles were left unlocked with keys inside, including two more stolen this weekend after apartment break-ins. See the full story and police safety tips here.
Help prevent a summer blood shortage: St. Thomas More Catholic Church will host a community blood drive on May 22, with all donors receiving a $15 Dairy Queen gift card — here’s how to schedule your appointment or walk in.
Other highlights this week:
- Start your day with morning mingle
- Indulge sweetly for kids in need
- Celebrate new park wading pool
- Flash tattoos support disabled veterans
- Walk to honor fallen soldiers
✨ We got your back
Hole lotta love: When your carb cravings hit a 10, Bagel Boy comes through with the kind of chewy, golden perfection that demands a schmear (or six). Sweet, savory, stacked sky-high—we don’t judge. We just hope you get there before the everything bagels are gone.
Sip happens: Craving something cold, chewy, and dangerously addictive? The drinks at Taichi Bubble Tea are equal parts caffeine, fruit, and snack—all in one cup. Customize your order like a boba sommelier or stick with the house fave, but fair warning: that first slurp might become a full-blown personality trait.
Plot twist! You walked in just to browse… and somehow left Zandbroz Variety with a towering TBR pile, a tote bag, and deep emotional attachment to a story you haven’t even read yet. Cozy, chaotic, or cat-adjacent—whatever your genre, the shelves here never disappoint.
Green thumbs up: Whether you’re a seasoned plant whisperer or the kind of person who needs a succulent with a survival guide, Cliff Avenue Greenhouse & Garden Center has what you need to make your home 47% leafier. Warning: side effects may include impulse-buying a fiddle-leaf fig and naming it.
👀 Why just read it when you could be in it?

SIX: The Musical | May 28th – June 1st
Divorced, beheaded… and belting out bangers. The SIX queens of Henry VIII aren’t here to mope—they’re rewriting history with mic drops, sequins, and unapologetic sass. This smash-hit musical is part pop concert, part royal rebellion, and all-out girl power.
With a trophy shelf of awards and a Billboard-charting album, SIX is the kind of electrifying show that makes history feel like a dance party. Check out showtimes and grab your seats before they vanish into the (theatrical) mist at the Washington Pavilion.
Arts in Healing South Dakota: Inaugural Exhibition | June 6th
