Happy Friday, Tri Cities. In today’s edition: Cheaper gas across the Northwest, a Christmas market, Handel’s Messiah, and more. Let’s get to it!

📰 In the news
Cheaper fill-ups across Northwest: AAA data shows gas prices down. Washington averages $4.15, Spokane around $3.75, Tri-Cities near $3.70, Idaho at $3.21, and Coeur d’Alene below $3, matching the $2.99 national average — get the regional breakdown.
Philanthropy powers rescue readiness: The Dickey Foundation awarded an $8,200 grant to Richland Fire Department for high-power saws and Priya diamond blades, enhancing rescue, extrication, and structural emergency response across the Tri-Cities — see what the grant funded.
Rural highway risks escalate: Washington State Patrol urges caution on Highway 395 north of Pasco, where 10 deaths in five years and four dangerous intersections have spurred calls for patrols and safety upgrades — read the full story.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Identity theft is up 25%: Last year, Americans lost $12.5 billion to ID theft & fraud, and the stories behind those numbers are brutal. My friend just told me his dad’s on his fourth replacement credit card. Other folks have woken up to empty bank accounts or their personal info dumped online after a breach. Aura catches these kinds of attacks early by monitoring for new accounts, weird money movements, leaked data, and other red flags so you’re alerted before things blow up — learn more about it here.

🫶 We got your back
Quality meets quantity: Westside Pizza is now open in Richland at 1759 George Washington Way, serving generous-topping pies like the Westside, Buckin’ Buffalo, and Death By Pizza, plus calzones, pastas, and wings. Locally owned by Sherrie and Alex Zollinger, it offers dine-in, takeout, delivery, and online ordering. Come hungry. Get all the details.
Traffic shifts in West Richland: Good news, bad news for West Richland drivers. The Ruppert Rd/Belmont Blvd and SR 224 intersection reopens Dec. 8 with fresh paving, striping, and roundabout sidewalks. The same day, the Paradise Blvd intersection closes. SR 224 will be closed to thru traffic between Keene Road and Belmont Blvd, with local access and detours via Belmont. See closures and detours.
Weeknight beer made easy: All-ages, dog-friendly Kennewick taproom pouring 13 taps of beer, hard seltzer, and a guest cider or wine. At Moonshot Brewing, grab a pint, let the kids explore the corner, and pick up eats from rotating food trucks or bring your own. Crowlers and barrel-aged bottles are ready for the ride home.
Thinning hair? Same: I’ve been shedding a lot, and recently noticed my ponytail feeling thinner. After way too much panic-Googling, I decided to take Hers’ online quiz. They recommended a Biotin + Minoxidil green-apple gummy that targets regrowth and overall hair health. The whole thing was surprisingly easy: just verify your identity and a licensed provider signs off. Here’s the quiz if you want to check it out.
Makeup that actually works: My sister and I were talking the other day about how the makeup we used in our 20s… just doesn’t work now that we’re in our 30s and 40s. Laura Geller’s entire makeup line addresses this shift, with formulas that smooth, brighten, and actually stay put. If you’re in the same boat, their curated kits are worth a look.
