📰 In the news
Fire calls expected to rise: Horry County Fire Rescue has warned of e-bike charging dangers after a camper fire believed to involve a burned e-bike. Officials urge using original batteries and cords and avoiding overnight charging — see how to charge safely.
Commuters face new bottlenecks: North Myrtle Beach will begin work on the Barefoot Bridge, reducing traffic to one lane. Expect peak travel delays as maintenance continues through the year, and plan ahead — get all the details here.
Residents weigh traffic concerns: North Myrtle Beach mayor J. Baldwin sets 2026 priorities on safety and slower growth, with flood fixes, possible short-term rental rules, a Barefoot Landing bridge, and a January council debut — get all the details.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Protect your nest egg: Savvy investors are turning to gold amidst today’s inflation, national debt, and market uncertainty for a reason. It holds its value when everything else feels shaky. Case in point: it’s up ~62% since this month last year. If you’re curious about adding it and other precious metals to your portfolio, American Hartford has a super helpful guide that covers everything you need to know. Highlights this week:

🫶 We got your back
City reverses parking policy: Free off-season parking is back now in downtown Myrtle Beach through February. City metered spots are free November through February. Business owners say it helps locals return during winter. Starting next season, the free period will run October 1 through February. See dates and what’s changing.
Two words: instant cozy. When your place needs a winter glow-up, Southern Splendor delivers tasteful Lowcountry vibes, smart gifts, and polished tabletop details…perfect for a quick refresh before company drops by. Skip the cookie-cutter coastal signs; this shop nails layering, from candles to linens, for welcome warmth.
Cider break, solved: At Wiseguys Bar & Grill, a rotating Rekorderlig cider joins a tight craft lineup, ideal when you want something bright and appley. Served on tap, the seasonal board stays lively, with casual bites, relaxed vibes, and an effortless weeknight win.
Thinning hair? Same: I’ve been shedding a lot, and recently noticed my ponytail feeling thinner. After way too much panic-Googling, I discovered Keranique’s hair regrowth system. Everything with them is surprisingly easy: no quizzes, no pills, no choosing between dozens of products. Just grab the kit and follow the instructions. The best part? It’s $75 off right now, you’ll get three free gifts, AND you’ll get your money back if you don’t love the results.
