📰 In the news
Rising waters strain infrastructure: After recent floods, Boca Raton residents and officials pressed for faster drainage fixes amid chronic flooding in Old Floresta and Camino Gardens. Council will revisit updates and funding Nov. 18 — see how you can help.
Holiday hunger relief drive: Boca Helping Hands is rallying support to feed 4,000 families this Thanksgiving through its 21st Annual Thanksgiving Box Brigade, with drive-thru distributions Nov. 22 and 23 across Palm Beach County — learn how you can help.
Big changes teeing off: Delray Beach Golf Club has closed for a yearlong $30 million renovation restoring Donald Ross and Dick Wilson designs, with the driving range limited and clubhouse open through December — see what’s planned.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.

🫶 We got your back
Stories of courage and care: The Walk to End Alzheimer’s comes to Boca Raton on Sunday, Nov. 9 at Sunset Cove Amphitheater. It starts at 8 am, with the Promise Garden ceremony at 9 and the walk to follow. Held during National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, it supports care, research, and the 580,000 Floridians living with Alzheimer’s. Get all the event details.
Dessert with a cause: Make your Thanksgiving sweeter and do some good: Preorder Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches’ Pie it Forward pies now through November 19. Pay $30–$35 and pick up Tuesday before Thanksgiving in West Palm Beach, Jupiter, or Delray. Each pie funds a week of meals for a homebound senior, baked and donated by local chefs. Get preorder and pickup details.
Make it feel special: Skip the chaos and settle into Twenty Twenty Grille, where chef Ron Weisheit crafts modern, artful plates from seasonal produce, line-caught seafood, and grass-fed meats. It’s perfect for lingering, sharing bites, and letting that “one more course” promise stretch just a little longer.
An emergency vet visit could cost you $7,000+ (ask me how I know 🙃). From the initial fee just to be seen to x-rays, surgery, medicine, and aftercare, it adds up quicker than a chew toy turns into a crime scene. The good news? You could get up to 90% cash back on your vet bill with this pet insurance plan.
Need new windows? It’s not the most glamorous upgrade, we’ll admit. But newer windows = lower energy bills and a subtle (but definitely noticeable) glow-up. If you’ve been putting it off or waiting for the right moment, Renewal by Andersen is offering a discount that just might seal the deal. Check it out here.

Today
🖼️George Was Here @ Johnny L. Tigner Community Center | Friday (11/7) at 6:00pm – Turns out George was here, and the proof is on the walls. This rare exhibition of unseen photos from George Harrison’s 1970 post-Beatles retreat lets you peek behind the curtain, sip something decent, and bask in quiet genius, not screaming fan hysteria.
🎭 Island City Stage presents Ruthless! The Musical @ Island City Stage | Friday (11/7) at 8:00pm – Meet Tina Denmark, an eight-year-old triple threat who’ll stop at nothing (yes, nothing) to land Pippi Longstocking—murder has never sounded so catchy. This cult Off-Broadway spoof packs camp, killer one-liners, and over-the-top twists with Daisy Tanner leading the mayhem and Michael Ursua scene-stealing as Sylvia St. Croix.
This weekend
🛶 Intracoastal Adventures – Intro to Kayaking @ Gumbo Limbo Nature Center | Saturday (11/8) at 9:00am – Take a break from the gym and glide the Intracoastal on a beginner-friendly paddle that teaches steering, not just Instagram posing. Cruise shallow water, learn the mangroves and estuary, and, yes, you need to get in and out on your own. Couples can grab doubles.
🕯️ Phantom Melodies: A Concert in Candlelight @ Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton | Saturday (11/8) at 7:00pm – If your idea of nightlife skews more Debussy than DJ, slip into the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Boca for a candlelit piano trio weaving classical, cinematic, and mysterious tunes. The sanctuary turns moody, all shadows, strings, and pin-drop hush. Tickets are $25, worth every goosebump.
🥟 The Ultimate Dumpling Class @ Red Pine | Sunday (11/9) at 1:00pm – Skip brunch and get hands-on at Red Pine’s dumpling class, led by Executive Chef Chi Chan in the Bank of America building, because Boca loves a good multi-use space. Two hours, a complimentary drink, lunch, take-home dumplings, and Chef’s sauces and recipes. Homework you’ll eat.
🔮 Jeffrey Wands, Psychic Medium @ Boca Black Box Center for the Arts | Sunday (11/9) at 2:00pm – Jeffrey Wands is back in South Florida, taking calls from the other side. See the main show, then the intimate seance next door, only 45 seats, so book early, bring curiosity, and a skeptical friend. No reading guaranteed, just goosebumps, perspective, and a good story.
🎤 Chris MacDonald’s Memories of Elvis in Concert @ Boca Black Box Center for the Arts | Sunday (11/9) at 7:00pm – An evening at the theater means rhinestones and goosebumps. It’s the Elvis tribute that’s the real deal, the only guy hired by Graceland, delivering early Sun swagger, ’68 leather smolder, and Vegas white fringe. Bring your hips, your stories, and your inner teenager.
Next week
🎨Eco Creations @ Swim & Racquet Community Center | Monday (11/10) at 4:30pm – Let the kids trade screens for splatters at a hands-on art class they learn from the greats and crank out a take-home masterpiece every time. Canvas, watercolor, 3D mixed media, all fair game. Your living room gets art, they get fine motor skills, everyone wins.
🏝️ Island Treks @ Gumbo Limbo Nature Center | Tuesday (11/11) at 10:00am – Trade the treadmill for a guided stroll on the shaded boardwalk through our tropical hardwood hammock, with birdsong, mangroves, and peekaboo Intracoastal views. It ends at the observation tower for those big-sky moments, no cardio heroics required, and yes, the ramp is ADA accessible.
🇺🇸 Red, White & Boca: A Veterans Day Celebration @ Mizner Park Amphitheater | Tuesday (11/11) at 4:00pm – Head to Mizner Park for Boca’s Veterans Day celebration, a free evening with live music, speakers, and a classic car show. Browse the Veterans Marketplace, snag food on-site, chairs included, and veterans with ID score a free bite, so bring your patriotism, leave the cooler.
