Sponsored by Excellence in Education Academy, this open park day welcomes all homeschoolers for friendly connection and play in a relaxed, largely unstructured setting. Families meet other homeschooling households, make new friends, and enjoy time together without the pressure of formal programming. Parents can share ideas and encouragement with one another. Younger children build gross and fine motor skills through active play. Teens get meaningful face to face time with peers, and families are encouraged to minimize device use. There is no participation fee. This is not a drop off gathering, so all minors must be accompanied by an adult and adults supervise their own children. If the weather is hot, kids may get wet, so plan ahead. Bring food, blankets, and chairs for comfort. Everyone is expected to be courteous and kind and to respect park wildlife such as frogs and lizards. Please do not bring alcohol. Chalk drawing belongs on the sidewalks, not on courts or walls. Games should be appropriate for all ages to see and hear. Card and board games are welcome, but mature or adult themed games are not permitted. Attendance may be light during extreme weather. There are no scheduled park days during Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, although many still visit the park during those weeks. Many gatherings take place in public spaces. Excellence in Education Academy cannot control who is photographed or filmed. By attending, participants understand there is a possibility that they or someone in their group may be photographed or recorded by others and that those images may be publicly viewable.
