Keegan Neely Senior Bassoon Recital

A senior bassoon recital by Keegan Neely will be presented at the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall. Admission is free and the performance is open to all. An Amerindian musician from Portland, Oregon, Neely began formal study at 15 and later performed with the National Youth Orchestra, appearing at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, KKL Luzern, the Berlin Konzerthaus, and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw. He has trained with Carin Miller of the Oregon Symphony and is pursuing a Bachelor of Music at Lynn in the studio of Whitney Crockett. His experience includes masterclasses with Gustavo Núñez, Monica Ellis, Judith LeClair, Julia Lockhart, and Luciano Magnanini. Outside the practice room, he enjoys making reeds, exploring urban design, and supporting ecological conservation in the Pacific Northwest.

Lillian Platte Viola Recital

Lillian Platte presents a junior viola recital at the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall. Admission is free and all are welcome. Originally from Belleville, New Jersey, she grew up in a family of professional musicians and began private study at the age of six. Her teachers have included Hannah Levinson, Michael Emery, Jordan Fusco, Harold Levin, Yen Yu, and Garry Ianco, and she currently studies at Lynn in the studio of Sheila Browne. Lillian has performed with the Plainfield Orchestra and the Society of Musical Arts in Northern New Jersey, as well as the Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras of the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College. She has taken part in masterclasses with Michelle LaCourse, Atar Arad, Lauren Hodges, Masumi Per Rostad, and Andrea Houde. In 2024 she appeared as a soloist with the Society of Musical Arts, performing the Walton Viola Concerto. Away from the stage she enjoys spending time in nature and exploring human anatomy.

Maria Savelyeva Master of Music Cello Recital

Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall hosts a Master of Music cello recital featuring Maria Savelyeva, and admission is free to the public. Originally from Lviv, Ukraine, Savelyeva began cello studies at six at the Krushelnytska Special Music School with Professor Ludmila Komar. She earned an Artist Certificate and a Bachelor of Arts in Cello Performance at the College of Charleston, where she studied with Natalia Khoma, and she is pursuing a Master of Music at Lynn with David Cole. Her distinctions include top placements at Talents for Europe in Slovakia, Mejdynarodnyi Koncurs im. Janine Garsci in Poland, the August Dombrowskis International Competition in Latvia, and the Ukrainian Chamber Music Competition. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Kyiv and Lviv and performed with the College of Charleston Orchestra in 2021 and 2023. Savelyeva’s ensemble work spans the First Ukrainian-Austrian Youth Orchestra Academy and the Orchestra of The Americas on a European tour, along with festival appearances at Eurasia, Oyster Bay, Piccolo Spoleto, Spoleto Festival USA, and the Charleston Chamber Music Intensive. Performances have included the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Merkin Hall in New York. She has taken part in masterclasses with Alexander Buzlov, Alexey Seleznev, Denis Severin, Natalia Khoma, and violinist Ilya Kaler, and has taught at the Oyster Bay Music Festival, offering chamber coaching and private lessons.

Arbor Day Tree Planting

Community Greening and the City of Boca Raton are hosting an Arbor Day tree planting at Spanish River Athletic Park, adding 40 native shade trees along the walking and running trail. Certified arborists and trained Tree Technicians will guide the effort and support volunteers throughout. No prior experience is necessary, and participants of all abilities are welcome. Tools are provided, with gloves available to borrow, along with water and light snacks. A DJ will be on-site to keep the energy up. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that can get dirty, and consider bringing a hat and sunscreen. “What Do You See?” Fellowship Short Film Premiere

Months of mentorship, exploration, and practical training lead to a showcase where five emerging filmmakers debut their original short films on the big screen. Chosen from a pool of 41 applicants from across South Florida, these young storytellers shaped their concepts with guidance from mentors and worked through a process that reflects professional filmmaking. The evening unfolds at the YoungArts Jewel Box in Downtown Miami with a red carpet welcome and screenings of each film. Between films, the creators step up to discuss the ideas that motivated their work and the path from first spark to final cut. A panel of film industry professionals closes the program by selecting the standout film of the night. Framed by the question “What Do You See?”, the event salutes curiosity, courage, and the next wave of creative voices.

In 1987, Mike McCarthy began his comedic journey at Bostons Comedy Connection. Since then, he has become a national headliner. He has appeared on Comedy Central, Showtime, Prime Video, and America’s Most Wanted. He was named Boston’s best comedian in 2013 and won Last Comic Standing in 2016. He is now known as The Comedy Barbarian. He hits the stage with a horned helmet and leather kilt, slinging punchlines. At Asian Arts of Balance, Inc, a community breast ultrasound screening offers an added tool for proactive breast health. Ultrasound can raise cancer detection rates from about 48 percent to 97 percent, particularly for those with dense breast tissue, and it can reveal cancers that mammograms and physical exams may miss. Provided by HerScan, the exam is painless, uses no radiation, is safe for those with implants, and requires no prescription. Each screening includes imaging of both breasts and the underarm area, with results interpreted by a radiologist. Boca Raton Summer Surf Camp

Island Camps brings more than 47 years of surf instruction to a summer surf camp at Red Reef Park. Established there in 2007, it has become Boca Raton’s longest-running surf camp and a fixture in the local community. Ten one-week sessions are offered throughout the summer. Designed for ages 5 to 12 and open to all abilities, the camp supports newcomers learning to pop up as well as more experienced surfers working on bottom turns. Instructors provide hands-on, ability-based coaching that helps each child gain confidence, refine technique, and enjoy memorable time in the water.
