No-Cost EKG Screenings for Student Athletes

Memorial Hospital Miramar Medical Office Building 2, 1971 SW 172nd Ave, Miramar · verified Aug 16
    Free

As families prepare for sports physicals, this event emphasizes adding a heart check to the plan. Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act requires first-time incoming high school student athletes to have a cleared electrocardiogram before tryouts, practices or interscholastic competition. To support that requirement and help everyone get ready for the season, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital has partnered with Who We Play For to offer no-cost EKG screenings for children and young adults ages 10 to 21. Online registration is required. Screenings are available at multiple locations, including Hollywood, Miramar, Coral Springs and Wellington. An EKG is a quick and painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity and can help detect certain conditions before symptoms appear. Before arriving, complete the required online consent form and avoid exercising for at least twenty minutes ahead of the screening. There is no charge for families, and a pediatrician’s signature is not needed. Use the registration page to view available dates and locations and to reserve a spot.
