A skills-focused Brazilian jiu-jitsu seminar in Winter Haven features instruction from Professor Paulo Ribeiro, a 6th degree BJJ black belt, judo black belt, and IBJJF-certified instructor from Brazil. Open to all levels, the curriculum covers technique development, self-defense fundamentals, live drilling with open mat time, and work on timing, leverage, and control. A dedicated one-hour technical sparring segment will be led by Coach Los. The experience includes access to recovery amenities such as a cold plunge, infrared sauna, compression therapy, and percussion therapy. Early bird pricing is $25 for members and $50 for non-members. Author Kathleen Lopez, who also publishes as Sydney Shaw, will be on hand for a book signing. This is not a ticketed event. Lopez is known for the Murder Mystery Shuller Series that follows Sheriff Martin Shuller, as well as The Crawford Chronicles, a run of psychological thrillers centered on Detective John Crawford and his increasingly unusual cases. Under the Sydney Shaw pen name, she writes the Out of Left Field and Riverbend Ranch series, offering slow burn and steamy small town romances. An evening with Maurice Benard brings inspiration, reflection, and General Hospital memories along with a question and answer session. The star of ABC’s General Hospital, a New York Times bestselling author and host of the YouTube series State of Mind, highlights more than three decades as Sonny Corinthos. Cast in 1993, he has received multiple Daytime Emmy nominations and earned wins in 2003, 2019, and 2021. On screen he portrays a mobster who grapples with manic depression, and in his own life he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and advocates for mental health. Tickets are available in two options. General admission is $49, and taxes and fees apply.
