Run For Love 5K/1 Mile Fun Run

Celebrating its 37th year, the Run For Love 5K and one mile fun run is a longstanding community tradition presented by the Tift County Cross Country Teams. Runners, families, and supporters come together for a day that highlights healthy living, connection, and Blue Devil spirit at ABAC’s Red Hill Athletic Complex in Tifton. Race day features check-in, a timed 5K, a one mile fun run, and an awards ceremony. In the 5K, awards are given to the overall male and female winners as well as the masters winner, along with the top three males and females in five year age groups. The one mile fun run recognizes overall male and female winners, and all other participants receive a participation medal. Proceeds benefit the Tift County Cross Country team by helping provide team dinners, custom shirts, race prizes, gear, letterman jackets, and special gifts for seniors and eighth grade athletes. Every step helps fuel the program and creates lasting memories for the student-athletes.

Pebble Hill Plantation, in partnership with Thomasville Landmarks, presents an author-led program at the Pebble Hill Plantation Learning Center featuring Beth Yarbrough, whose handbook The Grassroots Guide to Saving What Matters: Historic Preservation for Everyday People shares practical ways individuals can protect historic places in their communities. The program focuses on preservation, local history, and community involvement. Attendees can take part in a Q&A and book signing with Yarbrough, then continue with a walking tour across Pebble Hill’s main grounds to view several preservation projects. Representatives from Thomasville Landmarks and local preservation partners who serve on its board of directors will join the tour discussions to offer additional context on community preservation efforts. Program tickets are $10, with no refunds, and must be purchased in advance. The featured book will be available for $12.95. 13th Annual Community-Wide Family Reunion

Now in its 13th year, this community-wide family reunion brings South Georgia together under the leadership of the NCNW Valdosta-Lowndes Metro Section. Inspired by the work of Dr. Dorothy I. Height and the National Black Family Reunion movement, it celebrates family, service, culture, and community. The event features free food distribution while supplies last, live music and entertainment, a Kids Zone with bounce houses, Community Bingo, giveaways and prizes, and opportunities to connect with local organizations and access community resources. It takes place at Unity Park Amphitheater, and admission is free for the entire community. Organizers are welcoming support from the community, including vendors, volunteers, and donors. Vendor options include informational vendors at no cost, merchandise vendors for 25 dollars, and food vendors for 50 dollars. Volunteer participation and donor contributions help sustain programs that support families, youth, education, and community initiatives across South Georgia.
