Drawing on acoustic, folk, and country influences, he blends heartfelt lyrics with a warm, authentic sound that builds a personal connection. Expect true-to-life songs and storytelling performed with sincerity, creating a live music experience that lingers well after the final chord.

A long-standing Urbana and Rose Bowl Tavern tradition, this weekly gathering blends an open jam, a song swap, and a relaxed hang. Collaboration is the focus, with musicians welcome to step on stage, join in, or invite others from the room. Emily, Clayton, and Dusty host the night, keep the list organized, and help participants navigate how it all works. Attendees are encouraged to bring an instrument or a tune to share, come with friends, enjoy drinks and popcorn, and they are welcome to bring their own food. There is no cover, and tips are appreciated.

At Rose Bowl Tavern, a recurring jazz jam typically takes place on Wednesdays. Bring an instrument to take part in the music, or come with friends or solo to listen and enjoy the hangout. On certain Wednesdays there is no jam because of holidays or reading day eve.

Opening Night Party features Mucca Pazza, a 30-piece marching band from Chicago that turns brass, strings, and a driving drumline into an eruption of joy. Their sound jumps from Balkan folk colors to Björk-inspired textures to Zappa-flavored twists, a whirlwind the Chicago Tribune has likened to a blend of New Orleans jazz, street-band vigor, and P-Funk groove. Clashing uniforms, cheerleaders who lead surreal, offbeat chants, and nonstop movement transform the show into a dance-forward celebration. Founded in a steel mill parking lot in 2004, the group has grown into a roaming musical circus that brings the same big, loud, delightfully odd spirit onstage or out in the streets. Antibalas, the Grammy-nominated Afrobeat ensemble that began in Brooklyn as a grassroots dance and protest group inspired by Fela Kuti, brings a surge of rhythm and rich musicianship to an Opening Night Party performance. With more than two decades shaping modern Afrobeat, the band combines seasoned craft with the fresh momentum of Hourglass, their recent release on Daptone Records. Their history includes appearances at global festivals such as Glastonbury and Coachella and serving as the house band for the Tony Award-winning Broadway production Fela!, building an international reputation for energizing live shows. Expect a vibrant blend of funk, jazz, and African grooves that turns the music into a shared celebration of movement and connection. This performance is free.

Honored as the Most Outstanding Group at the Chicago Music Awards and named Best World Music Group by Chicago Reader, the ensemble builds its shows around connection, uniting diverse musicians with a message of unity and belonging. Celebrating 30 years together with founder Dr. Rahul Sharma, they weave themes of joy, wellness, and community into an uplifting celebration.

Lunch comes with live music at Vermilion River Beer Company as Rich Hogan performs a midday set. A laid-back way to enjoy a meal with a live soundtrack.

Taste samples from local restaurants, enjoy performances by local musicians, and test your knowledge with trivia focused on Danville’s history. A mariachi band provides lively music while a blind taste test challenges your palate. Visitors can also take a $10 tour of the Historic Fischer Theatre.
