Breakthrough Basketball offers a high-energy, drill-focused camp at The HUB Recreation Center that concentrates on shooting and offensive skills. Training aims to elevate on-court performance through intense, fundamentals-driven work while also encouraging character growth and confidence beyond the game.

Organized by the Carterville Lions Club, this community car show takes place at Cambria City Park with cars on display. It offers a shared appreciation for automobiles in a neighborhood setting.

Artisan Watercolor Making Workshop

Learn to make watercolor paints from scratch in a guided, hands-on workshop. The fee includes premium materials and instruction as you blend pigments, explore the craft and chemistry of watercolor making, and assemble a personal palette you created yourself. Experiment with custom shades, give them names, and leave with a finished set of 20 colors to take home. Group size is intentionally limited for plenty of individual attention, practical learning, and a calm, creative setting. The fee supports a local small business and covers the quality supplies used throughout the session. Participants must be 16 or older due to the materials involved. Cost is $120 per person.

Trivia Night with the Midwest Salute to the Arts!

Enjoy a community trivia fundraiser at the KC Club & Event Center where teams compete for cash prizes awarded to first and second place. The evening is hosted by MC Jim Rudy, the Trivia Master. All proceeds support the Midwest Salute to the Arts and its ongoing work of sharing art throughout the community. Activities include a 50/50, a wagon of booze raffle, heads or tails, mulligans, and a silent auction. Entry is $20 per person or $150 for a table of eight. A cash bar will be available, outside drinks are not permitted, and guests may bring their own snacks for the table. The Casa Maria food truck will be on site. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit. Round sponsorships at $100 are available, and silent auction donations are being accepted.

TDI's 20 Year Anniversary Banquet

An anniversary banquet honors 20 years of Tye-Dyed Iguana serving the St. Louis and Metro East reptile community. Guests can enjoy a full buffet and open bar, explore immersive displays, and take in a presentation that follows TDI’s path from its early days to becoming a regional leader in reptiles, aquatics, and exotic pets, with a look at the creative and individual spirit that shapes the brand. A special appearance by The Lizardman, seen on Ripley’s Believe It or Not and present at the 2006 grand opening, adds to the celebration. Hosted at O’Fallon KC Hall.

Taylor Steele

Taylor Steele & the Love Preachers present a four piece Americana sound led by a woman singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist from Effingham, Illinois. Their sets blend roots rock with soul, country, blues, and funk, pairing Taylor’s original material with reinterpretations of songs by artists they admire. Taylor’s voice nods to icons like Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples as well as contemporary figures such as Susan Tedeschi and Gillian Welch, showing firm control, power, and improvisation with a balanced mix of vibrato, tone, and projection. The band’s debut album, Searching, arrived in 2019 with tracks arranged in the order they were written, beginning with Jeremiah from her early teens. It was recorded in Nashville at County Q Productions with co producer Alison Prestwood and featured pianist Catherine Marx, offering ten originals and a Jimmie Rodgers cover in an Americana style touched by R&B. Their 2024 release, High Feeling, moves through themes of loss, acceptance, and renewal, drawing on old country, soul, and blues. Longtime guitarist James Stewart colors the sound with eclectic, soulful lines and a hint of twang. The album was recorded and mixed by bassist Garrett Burris, with artwork by Andrew Evans. Taylor began singing at a young age alongside her family, performing old time country, 60s and 70s rock, and bar band blues, and she later developed a self taught fingerpicking style. Influences such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Band, Hank Williams Sr., Son House, Jimmie Rodgers, Neil Young, and Bonnie Raitt continue to shape her writing and the group’s approach.

Yoga/Pilates with Donna Eyre

Enjoy a yoga and Pilates class led by Donna Harnett Eyre. Originally from Chicago, Donna brings more than 40 years of teaching experience, having developed and taught programs for large fitness companies and boutique studios. Her background also includes continuing and adult education with city colleges and universities, along with instruction for community groups, private clients, and school groups. At Neighborhood Co-op Grocery, the annual SIU Ceramics Department Pot and Planter Sale sets up outside the store. The selection includes planters and pots that serve as artful local pieces for new spring and summer plantings or for giving a longtime favorite a refreshed home. Proceeds support Southern Illinois University Ceramics students and their creative research opportunities.

Taste of the District - April 25, 2026

This culinary tour returns in a refreshed format with two separate tasting days, each showcasing a different lineup of Downtown restaurants. Choose a single session or bundle both for the complete experience. The event is designed as an intimate walking tour where small plates take center stage, giving you a chance to sample signature bites, connect with fellow attendees, and savor the flavors of Downtown O’Fallon. Groups of about ten move together with a dedicated Taste Guide from stop to stop. Expect roughly a mile of walking, so comfortable footwear is a good idea. Plan on about 25 minutes at each restaurant, with the option to purchase drinks along the way. One of the tasting days features Peel Wood Fired Pizza, Gia’s Pizza, Boarding House Bistro, Juice Heal Thrive, and Sweet Katie Bee’s. Tickets are $70 per person for a single date, or $120 when bundling both days. Capacity is limited to 40 participants per event.

Handmade Clay Flowers

Celebrate spring by shaping beautiful clay flowers in a guided, beginner-friendly setting. Each ticket includes a pound of stoneware clay, typically enough to create about three to four blooms, plus instruction, two firings, and access to glazes to finish your pieces. The designs are simple to make and easy to personalize with your own ideas. Completed flowers can also serve as small watering cups for bees, butterflies, and some tiny birds. Capacity is limited.

The Healing Remnants from Stitching

Celebrate the launch of the Miller-Tisdale Sewing Center with a Sewing Room Open House at the Eurma Hayes Center. Attendees can learn about the two women whose legacies inspired the center and explore how sewing can nurture healing. The program features remarks from Deborah Woods and Kate Heist. Mrs. Iray Tisdale will be recognized as a special guest in honor of her 100th birthday, a milestone for someone cherished by the Carbondale community. HRS Marion, IL Race Day

This national, inclusive youth running program takes place at Harry Crisp Sports Complex. Led by dedicated local coordinators, it offers a fun environment where kids celebrate their achievements and build active, healthy habits.

An open mic night that welcomes performers of all kinds. Artists can sign up at the host stand to share two of their best songs in a short set. Guests can enjoy food and drinks while listening to live music from musicians from Southern Illinois.

Public Astronomy Observation

Enjoy a free, public night of skywatching on the rooftop Astronomy Observation Deck at SIU Carbondale’s School of Physics and Applied Physics. Hosted by SIU Physics and the Astronomical Association of Southern Illinois, the gathering features guided telescope views of the night sky. Highlights include an 80 percent illuminated Moon, Jupiter with all four Galilean moons in view throughout, and Venus at about 89 percent phase visible only near the start. The Hercules Globular Cluster, M13, is also on the list of targets. Children are welcome with an accompanying adult. The observation deck is accessible only by stairs and does not offer handicap access. Although the program takes place outdoors, attendees may be near others for portions of the evening, and masks are optional.

ATA Spring Open

Take part in a UTR-verified tennis competition offering singles and doubles at Carbondale Community High School. It is open to yellow ball players of any level, with divisions organized by playing ability rather than age or gender. Youth players are welcome if they compete at an intermediate yellow ball level. There is a plan to offer two to three tiers and gather eight players. Matches use a two of three short sets to 4 format, and every participant is guaranteed three matches regardless of outcome. Registration and payment are managed on UTR and require a free account.

The Southern Illinois Reptiles and Exotics Show features a variety of animals, feeders, and pet supplies. Its a family-friendly expo where you can see and learn about animals or find a new pet. EEC Graduation Ceremony and Pop-Up Trade Show

This ceremony and pop-up market at the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center celebrates graduates of the Illinois Economic Empowerment Center and spotlights new entrepreneurs from Southern Illinois as they unveil what they have been building. Guests can explore and purchase offerings from emerging small businesses while learning about the ventures these founders are launching. The program recognizes participants from Boots to Business: Reboot, Make Me Bankable, and The Big 3, which covers business planning, financials, and pitching, and it also honors the Launch That Business class of Spring 2026. English Classes for Adults

Adults from any country, language, or background can take part in free English classes at Marion Aldersgate Church. Sessions are interactive and conversation focused, with engaging activities that build practical, everyday language skills while fostering new friendships and a sense of community. A placement interview is completed on the first day to determine the right level for each learner. Instruction is free, and there is a $20 fee for the book and classroom materials. The quote will be applied exactly as submitted, so have it ready and double-check the wording.

Comedy Night

Fiona Cauley returns to Celebrations Event Center for a stand-up performance that showcases her edgy, punchline-dense style and the personal stories that drive her comedy. Based in Nashville, she is a recurring presence on Kill Tony who has earned a Golden Ticket, performs regularly at Nashville’s Zanies, is often seen at Austin’s Comedy Mothership, and headlines tours that have filled venues across the country. She learned at 18 that she has Friedreich ataxia, and her progression from walking independently to using mobility aids and then a wheelchair shapes both her life and her voice on stage. She addresses that experience directly, using humor to put audiences at ease and to influence how disability is discussed in stand-up, with a focus on candor rather than inspiration. Her credits include sharing the road with Nikki Glaser, an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and speaking at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. Offstage, she has built a substantial online following drawn to her unfiltered perspective and fearless delivery.

The celebration marks the opening of the Tedrick Welcome Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. It salutes the leadership of the SIU Foundation Board of Directors and acknowledges the generosity of Roger and Sally Tedrick, SIU Foundation emeritus board members, along with many donors whose support made the center possible. Serving as the home of the SIU Foundation and the official welcome hub for prospective students, the center creates a lively gathering spot for alumni, donors, students, and the broader SIU community. The program includes a ribbon cutting and a public open house with opportunities to tour the building, explore its features, and see how it will welcome future generations of Salukis.

Glo Bingo

Glo Bingo is a fundraiser supporting the Resident Fund at Voyage Senior Living. The organizing nonprofit is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to raising money for residents. Admission is $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and attendees must be 18 or older. Each ticket includes six bingo cards spanning ten games, along with a glow hat and a dauber. Attendees can purchase drinks at a cash bar, bring their own snacks, visit a food truck, and take part in basket raffles. More than $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. The event will be held at Marion KC Hall.

Memphis Night

Memphis Night returns to Little Nashville with a high-energy set from The Smith-Hill Band. Blending blues, soul, and rock, this lively performance offers a spirited start to the weekend. Presented on the first Friday of each month, it provides a recurring night of live music and fun.

Parents Night Out

Parents’ Night Out is a monthly program at Lexy’s Art Room where children ages 6 to 16 spend a few hours making art, watching movies, and taking part in creative activities with other kids. The price is $50 per child. It happens on the first Friday of each month.

Queer Cinema Double Feature

This Queer Cinema program celebrates Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a double feature of Shinjuku Boys and Tales of the Waria. The lineup also includes two shorts that broaden the range of perspectives: Kapaemahu, which reflects on the history of four stones in Waikīkī and the transgender healing spirits connected to them, and The Rogers, an intimate look at a pioneering community of transgender men in Samoa. Each feature runs just under an hour, and the combined runtime for the shorts and features is 2 hours and 13 minutes. A brief optional discussion will follow to explore the themes raised by the films. Free popcorn, candy, and soda will be available at the Sharp Museum.

The band has a long relationship with this venue, having performed here since their second show, and they share appreciation for the local supporters who have been with them from the start.

Union Street Arts hosts a stand-up night headlined by Alex Reymundo, whose one-hour specials Hick-Spanic, an ALMA Award winner, and Red-Nexican have aired on Showtime, Comedy Central, and Netflix. His material connects with a broad range of audiences and reflects decades of experience on stage. Reymundo began performing live in Arlington, Texas in 1988 and soon teamed up on the road with Ron White. Years of touring led him to Los Angeles, where he became part of a vibrant Latino comedy scene and toured with Paul Rodriguez. National visibility followed with Paramount Pictures’ The Original Latin Kings of Comedy alongside Paul Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, George Lopez, and Joey Medina, a showcase on HBO’s P. Celebrate Mother’s Day with a hands-on art workshop, now in its 10th year, designed for mothers and daughters to create together. Attend with your mom, daughter, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, or a mom-to-be, make art side by side, and share some laughs along the way. The fee is $40 per person or $75 for two attendees. Suitable for ages 7 and up. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.

Nature On Tap 2026

Stroll the woodlands of Oakland Nature Preserve while sampling farmhouse-style creations from Scratch Brewing Company. Known for brewing with homegrown, locally farmed and foraged ingredients, their rotating selections highlight flavors such as nettle, elderberry, ginger, dandelion, maple sap, hickory, lavender, juniper and chanterelle mushrooms. Tickets are sold in timed entry slots to keep the tasting route relaxed and lines short. Each ticket includes a GE logo beer glass and eight 4 ounce pours of craft beer. Light concessions will be available for purchase, and outside snacks are welcome. Live music and an onsite pop-up pub make it easy to linger outdoors between tastings. The preserve’s trails are generally flat and smooth but not paved, the beer hike covers about three quarters of a mile, and comfortable walking shoes are recommended for natural terrain. Free parking is available. Proceeds support Green Earth of Carbondale, a land conservation nonprofit.

Puppy Yoga

Enjoy a playful yoga session surrounded by adoptable puppies in a beginner-friendly class that welcomes all ages, including kids and adults. This pop-up benefits Gateway Pet Guardians, with every donation directly supporting the shelter. A minimum donation of $25 per person will be collected. Annual Plant Sale

The O'Fallon Garden Club hosts its yearly plant sale featuring a diverse mix of plants and planters for both sunny and shady landscapes. Now in its third year, this 5K gathers runners, walkers, students, families, and supporters at John A. Logan College to celebrate community, physical activity, and faith while supporting the mission of Trinity Christian School. Me & My Person - Kid’s Collage Workshop - Inspired by the art of Eric Carle - May/Mom

At Bits & Pieces Art and Antiques, this hands-on collage workshop invites a child to create alongside their person, with a focus on quality time and shared creativity. Each pair will craft an artwork inspired by Eric Carle’s distinctive picture book style, using collage that can be accented with crayon or paint. This session highlights a Mother’s Day theme with a nod to The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The person can be a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or family friend, and that person attends the full class with the child. Spike Out Suicide Glow Sand Volleyball Tournament

A glow-in-the-dark sand volleyball tournament shines a spotlight on Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Pool play opens the action, then the courts light up into the night until a champion is crowned. DJ John Kemp keeps the patio energized into the evening. Team entry is built for six players with at least three women, includes referee fees and a four game guarantee, and comes with six event shirts for eligible registration windows. Only 12 team spots are available, and there will be team contests with prizes. Teams have an opportunity to earn back their entry fee, with earlier signups improving the chance. Pricing varies by registration period, and the late tier is $300 and does not include shirts. Run Like An Animal 5K

This community 5K at Harmony Trail raises funds for The Infinity Project, a nonprofit that supports families and pets across Southern Illinois. Registration is $25 per person, and proceeds help provide emergency veterinary assistance, low cost microchipping clinics, pet food bank distribution, and community outreach and humane education. The course features four laps of the trail, with wristbands used to track each lap to keep results fair. Top finishers receive medals and gift baskets, with first place choosing first, second place choosing next, and third place receiving the remaining basket. Check in under the name used at registration to pick up a shirt and bib. No paper tickets are issued, and a thank you email is sent after registering. Shirt sizes cannot be changed after registration. There are no refunds, but entry transfers are allowed. For the comfort and safety of all participants, pets are not permitted. A food truck will be on site for post race bites, and registered runners can grab free water and snacks.

VA’s 16th Annual VA2K, Food Drive, Health Fair – Marion VA Medical Center

The 16th Annual VA2K and Health Fair centers on whole health, community connection, and support for Veterans facing hardship or homelessness. Embracing a Red, White, and Blue theme in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the day emphasizes inclusivity, empathy, and unity. Expect food trucks, live music with outdoor activities, a drum circle, exercise demonstrations such as yoga and tai chi, and an opportunity to try the outdoor gym provided by Greenfields Outdoor Fitness. Participants can take part in a 2K walk (1.24 miles) that pairs personal wellness with meaningful support for Veterans. Sign-in, registration, and waivers will be available at a table near the starting line. A donation station by the flagpole will collect pantry items, and the Center for Development and Civic Engagement will be on site to assist and provide receipts for tax purposes. A virtual giving option is also available. Since 2011, VA2K events nationwide have raised more than $3 million to assist homeless Veterans, and in Marion this effort typically generates $4,000 to $5,000 each year. The health fair will feature services such as Caregiver Support, Whole Health, Nutrition, Women’s Health Services, and My HealtheVet, with 15 to 20 VA services, Veterans Service Organizations, and community partners expected. Bulls, Boots, and Bright Lights brings a community celebration to Mtn Dew Park honoring 250 years of American independence. The lineup features the adrenaline of professional bull riding, the region’s first Sky Elements drone show painting the night in patriotic color, and a headlining performance by country artist Easton Corbin to wrap up the festivities. Presented in partnership with the City of Marion, Pepsi MidAmerica, Watermark Auto Group, and The Oasis Family of Businesses, the event is designed to be high quality, affordable, and family friendly, with tickets starting at $25 and on-sale information to be announced. Parents Night Out

Parents Night Out offers a recurring experience on the first Friday of each month where children ages 6 to 16 can spend a few fun hours at Lexy’s Art Room. For $50 per child, participants dive into hands-on art projects, enjoy a movie, and connect with peers through creative activities, giving caregivers some well deserved time to themselves. Celebrate 250 years of American history, community pride, and civic spirit with a full day of activities that bring neighbors together. Festivities at O'Fallon Community Park include live music and entertainment, family friendly activities for all ages, food and drink from vendors and local favorites, and a community parade featuring local groups, schools, and neighbors. The day caps off with an evening fireworks show over O'Fallon at the O'Fallon Family Sports Park. This gathering honors shared heritage and history while creating new memories with family, friends, and neighbors. For safety, minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times on Community Park grounds, and unaccompanied minors are not permitted. Summer Speed & Agility Camp

Elevate on-field performance at a focused speed and agility camp at O'Fallon Sports Park. Participants build strength, acceleration, and quickness through advanced drills while refining running mechanics and coordination with guidance from skilled coaches. The curriculum serves athletes from many sports, including soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and football, with techniques that carry over to competition. Groups for grades 3 to 4, 5 to 8, and 9 to 12 ensure age-appropriate challenge and individualized attention. The camp fee is $140, and an early bird discount of 15 percent is available.

Learn practical techniques for watering, weeding, and harvesting, then help ensure every pick counts as the produce is weighed and delivered to the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Marion. Meet neighbors, trade tips, and contribute to a collaborative effort that supports families across the community. Participants rotate through games and activities that build dribbling, passing, 1v1 skills, and goal scoring, then end each day with a scrimmage to put new techniques into practice. The camp fee is $140.

O'Fallon Finishing/Goalkeeper Academy Camp

At O'Fallon Sports Park, young players can focus on finishing or develop as goalkeepers through a specialized Elite FT soccer camp. Field players work on the techniques and decision-making that lead to goals in a program centered on attacking finishes. Goalkeepers can choose the Academy format that uses a two-hour structure, beginning with instruction from Goalkeeper Academy coaches on footwork, ball handling, diving technique, distribution, and positional awareness, then continuing with a second hour of full-speed play alongside field players who are practicing finishing. The camp welcomes U8-U10 and U11-U14 groups, and the cost is $150.
