Severe bleeding is a leading cause of preventable death before patients reach the hospital, accounting for more than 35 percent of pre-hospital fatalities in traumatic emergencies. This in-person class teaches practical, life-preserving techniques for controlling blood loss when minutes matter. Participants learn how to quickly estimate blood loss and distinguish arterial from venous bleeding, then follow step-by-step methods to stop it using both commercially available tools and improvised options when a first aid kit is not on hand. Instruction covers when and how to apply a compression bandage or a tourniquet, how to pack a wound, how to recognize penetrating injuries to the torso and place a chest seal, and how to treat for shock. Hands-on practice with training aids reinforces each skill so attendees can act effectively during the critical window when a person may bleed out in 3 to 5 minutes and emergency responders may be several minutes away. The course runs approximately 1 to 2 hours and concludes with a skills assessment. Those who successfully complete all requirements receive a two-year certification in Save A Life: Control The Bleed.

Gain practical, hands-on lifesaving skills during an in-person CPR and AED course at Citadel Training Solutions, LLC in Waldorf, MD. Training uses practice equipment so you can learn the techniques and physical effort required to perform CPR for adults, children, and infants and to operate an automated external defibrillator correctly. Successful participants earn a two-year certification. The class is offered exclusively in person to focus on quality, skill-based instruction for breathing or cardiac emergencies and is not available online.
