Get ready to race at the Pintwood Derby Contest. Whether you are a newbie or a pro, this event is open to all ages and promises a good time for the whole family. There will be Pinewood Derby rules that must be followed. You can add flair to your car with a driver figure, decals, spoilers, or anything else that fits within the size and weight limits. There will be prizes for the winners and additional awards such as Best Paint Job, Best Pigeon Hill Inspired Car, and Slowest Car. It costs $5 to compete.

Sunday Funday: Summer Spin Smoothie Release

Come and enjoy the release of Summer Spin Smoothie, a summer blonde ale. This beer has apricot, peach, and mango flavors. Vanilla has been added. This fruity, vibrant, and tropical drink has just the right touch of sweetness. The brewery is also hosting a PINTwood Derby, a pinewood-style race for all ages. Tai Chi

Experience gentle, low impact Tai Chi in a program led by Naomi Hyso of the MSU Extension office, designed for arthritis management and fall prevention. Through slow, flowing movements that emphasize weight transfer and control, participants work to improve balance, strength, mobility, and overall quality of life while easing stress and reducing the risk of falls. The session supports older adults and people with disabilities who are at risk for falls and want to stay active. Modifications are available for both seated and standing participation, making the class accessible and easy to learn. Registration is required. High School Sports Performance: All Sports (Spring)

Designed for high school athletes from any sport, this spring performance program builds speed, strength, agility, and overall athletic ability through focused coaching and progressive training. Sessions cover acceleration and change of direction, strength and power development, sport-specific movement patterns, and strategies that help reduce injury risk. Training takes place in a small, structured setting that keeps athletes engaged, challenged, and growing in confidence. The program costs $360 for 18 sessions, and participants receive 24/7 access to SportHouse Fitness for the duration of the program. Space is limited.

Victory Snacks Skill-Share

Build community while getting started with homegrown snacks at a free gardening skill-share at Muskegon Farmers Market. Containers, soil, and seedlings will be available to help you begin, and donations are welcome. Plan to meet in the market’s northern corner parking lot. An Indy Next Gen meeting will take place immediately afterward across the street at Fire Station #3.

Terrarium Party - 4/27

Transform your own container into a living miniature garden at a hands-on terrarium making experience. The ticket includes moss, soil, rocks, and three plants. Extra plants, soil, and rocks will be available for purchase for larger or multiple containers, along with crystals, paintable stones, and small statues to personalize your design. Most terrariums take about 20 minutes to assemble. If you are looking for a vessel, try a vintage shop, a thrift store, or the clearance section at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. If you do not have a container or prefer not to search for one, containers will also be available to purchase on site.

Karate For Kids - 6 Week Session, Mondays & Thursdays

Children ages 5 to 12 can take part in a six-week karate program spanning 12 classes that blends fun with skill-building. Led by instructor Kristyn Reinecke, a 4th Degree Black Belt, the curriculum builds strength, confidence, and practical self-defense while emphasizing respect and self-discipline. Through structured, age-appropriate lessons, participants develop leadership qualities, sharpen focus and coordination, and improve overall fitness in an encouraging setting, with teamwork and perseverance at the core. The full session is $40 per person with family discounts available, and a $5 per class drop-in option is offered. Please bring a water bottle.

Paying For College Info Sesh

Explore practical ways to cover college costs, including financial aid, grants, scholarships, Promise, and Reconnect. Representatives from Muskegon Promise, FAFSA, and Reconnect will explain available options and walk through how to apply for funding that can help with tuition and other educational expenses. If you are working toward a high school diploma or GED, the Trio Educational Opportunity Center will share resources and support to help you reach that milestone. Kate Hinote Trio

The Kate Hinote Trio presents a contemporary folk performance with Kate Hinote joined by guitarist David Johnson and violinist Matthew Parmenter. Johnson is Hinote’s longtime collaborator from the Blueflowers, and Parmenter is known for Discipline. The trio blends indie folk and progressive folk influences, centering Hinote’s evocative vocals within gracefully arranged acoustic textures. Registration is free and highly preferred.

Butterfly Pinning Class

Explore delicate techniques for preparing and displaying butterflies in a hands-on class led by Anna of Moonlit + Windswept at Pine Street Mercantile. Participants will work with two specimens, a catopsilia pomona flora and a king swallowtail, then mount them in a shadowbox. The session lasts about an hour and includes complimentary refreshments. Everyone leaves with their pinned specimens, one shadowbox, a pinning board, tweezers, and entomology pins. This class is recommended for ages 12 and up, with younger attendees allowed only alongside an adult or with prior approval from Anna. Admission is $75 per person. Cancellations within 72 hours are nonrefundable, and earlier cancellations are refundable. Previous experience, such as Beetle Pinning 101 or other insect pinning, is strongly encouraged because butterfly pinning is more advanced.

General Membership Meeting: April

An April general membership meeting brings an evening of connection and updates at the Frauenthal Center. A special guest from Muskegon Civic Theatre will share how the company mounts its productions with the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers who contribute thousands of hours each season, both on stage and behind the scenes. After the meeting, an informal afterglow at Topshelf Liquor Bar & Pizza offers extra time to relax and connect with fellow members.

2026 Clean-Up Days

At Fruitport Township Government, residents of Fruitport Township and the Village can dispose of select items during community clean up days. Accepted materials include leaves and other yard waste placed in biodegradable bags only, household rubbish such as mattresses and chairs, and miscellaneous scrap metal. Car and pickup truck tires are also accepted for a fee of $3 per tire. Items that will not be accepted include commercial or contractor waste, oil, paint, brush, hazardous materials like antifreeze, light bulbs, and pesticides, as well as electronics including computer monitors, computers, and keyboards. This service is limited to Fruitport Township and Village residents, and a valid photo ID is required.

The process can be a little messy and outcomes vary, with all supplies provided. Fifty percent or more of proceeds support McLaughlin Community Fellowship. Registration is $20 per person with a $7 minimum deposit at sign-up. Online registration is required in advance, and the remaining balance can be paid at the workshop. The class is open to ages 8 and up, with adult supervision for ages 8 to 14. Attendance is limited to 8 participants; if it fills, anyone who registers afterward will be contacted and a future date can be arranged. The Darkness Underground presents a free horror movie screening at Cafe Tamaki featuring White Zombie from 1932. Admission is free. The film runs 1 hour and 7 minutes and carries a Not Rated/Passed designation from the early MPAA era. It blends classic zombie and voodoo horror. Volunteer Day! Aquatic Planting at Dune Harbor Park

At Dune Harbor Park, volunteers will team up with Muskegon County Parks and the Muskegon Conservation District for a hands-on day of aquatic native planting. The effort focuses on installing 2,743 native aquatic plugs along the shoreline and at the water’s edge to restore habitat and improve water quality. Volunteers will also plant native species in parking lot landscape areas to establish gardens that support pollinators and wildlife, improve stormwater absorption, reduce maintenance, and increase biodiversity. Please bring waders, hip boots, rain boots, or muck boots, and wear clothing that can get wet or muddy since planting will take place in or near the water. All planting tools and gloves will be supplied by the Muskegon Conservation District and Muskegon County Parks. Participants should be high school age or older and comfortable working near the water’s edge. Those seeking opportunities for younger children can look for next week’s Native Plug Planting. Volunteers are asked to sign up online through United Way under Muskegon Area Parks & Greenways Coalition so hours can be tracked for grant reporting. Support for this project comes from the Consumers Energy Foundation through its Planet Award grant, which is helping make events in 2025 and 2026 possible.

Live music on the beach at The Deck comes from Global Village, a Mid Michigan favorite that has been filling dance floors for nearly 25 years. The band showcases a three member horn section, strong vocals, and a propulsive rhythm section, driving a setlist made for dancing. Melvin Elijah and Cast from Phoenix, AZ presents a spectacular tribute to MotownLIVE!

At The Stage At The Corner, producer and performer Melvin Elijah and his cast from Phoenix present a stage production honoring Motown, featuring songs made famous by The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and more. The show includes precise choreography, multiple costume changes and an ensemble that captures the spirit of the era. Elijah leads A Tribute to Motown Live and brings a background shaped by early inspiration from Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Eddie Kendricks and Marvin Gaye. His career includes opening performances for James Brown, Natalie Cole, Roy Ayers, Bobby Blue Bland and The Whispers, as well as time with The Floaters, whose hit “Float On” reached number one and stayed on the R&B Billboard chart for six weeks. For more than a decade under Mike Moloney Entertainment, he headlined on cruise ships and in casino showrooms around the world, including headliner appearances on Diamond Princess and an Artist Visual Act on Costa Neo Romanitca. Local goths and fellow darklings from Muskegon gather at Aamodt Park for a gothic picnic in celebration of World Goth Day. Blessing of the Boats

Celebrate the start of boating season in Muskegon County with a lake cruise. The Aquastar will lead a procession through the Muskegon Channel to South Breakwater Cove for the Washing of the Lighthouse. A unique view from the lake will allow guests to watch boats pass by to receive a blessing for a safe and enjoyable boating season. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony. Hot Dog Lunch after Ceremony

A community Memorial Day observance features a parade that starts on Conklin Rd, travels along Stafford and Main St, pauses for a wreath ceremony at Thatcher Park, and ends at Ravenna Cemetery where a memorial ceremony follows. If weather cancels the parade, the ceremony will take place inside the Legion Hall. A hot dog lunch will be offered afterward at no cost, with donations accepted, and poppies available.

D-Day: Muskegon 2026

At the USS LST 393 Veterans Museum, this multi-day observance blends history, music, and community activities. Festivities open with a swing dance at the Clipper featuring music by Jay Dub DJ. Throughout the event, attendees can visit vendor booths, enjoy food, and explore the MASH tent. Programming features the Ms. D-Day contest, living history reenactors, and activities for kids. A movie on deck may be added. The schedule also includes additional reenactments and a time to recognize veterans before wrap-up events. Admission is free to the public, and donations support restoration of the USS LST 393. Period attire is encouraged for the dance, with looks inspired by Rosie or a GI. Participating vendors and partners include Culver’s, Tiki Boys, the Muskegon Area Nurse Honor Guard, MCC Nursing Faculty, the local VFW, and more.

D-Day Muskegon: WWII Living History Weekend at USS LST 393

Celebrate the history of World War II and honor veterans at D-Day Muskegon, a three-day living history event taking place along the Muskegon waterfront. This annual event, held aboard and around the USS LST 393, commemorates the Allied invasion of Normandy. Visitors can anticipate interactive programming, educational exhibits, and activities for the whole family. Experience WWII reenactments including battlefield scenarios, displays of military vehicles, and living history encampments. Other activities include swing dancing, live entertainment, historical demonstrations, and veteran recognition programming. There will be vendor booths, food vendors, a MASH tent, contests, reenactors, a kids boot camp, and more.

Enjoy a free, Roaring Twenties themed water ski spectacle as the Grand City Show Skiers present “The Secret Sip.” In a setting where caffeine is banned and energy has faded, the team brings excitement back to the shoreline with vintage flair and splash-filled stunts. Spectators can bring blankets or lawn chairs and snacks. A pre-show leads into the main performance at Ross Park Beach, creating a family-friendly adventure on the water.

Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony & Fundraiser

The 39th annual Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame induction and fundraiser celebrates local sports figures at The Event Center at Fricano Place. The evening includes a social hour, a buffet dinner and a program honoring this year’s class. For the first time, a Little League team will be inducted. The 2001 Roosevelt Park Little League squad, the area’s only Little League state champions, earned its title by defeating programs from Taylor, Georgetown and Grosse Pointe, then advanced to the regional in Indianapolis and finished one win shy of the Little League World Series in Williamsport. Their milestone aligns with the 25th anniversary of that championship run. The class also recognizes longtime high school football coach Dave Cooke, basketball standout Drew Naymick from his high school and college career, and the Zeerip family for achievements in wrestling. The Gene Young Distinguished Service Award goes to Frank Schubert, honored for his work as a teacher, coach and official. A male and a female student athlete will be announced as well. Dinner is buffet style, catered by Harris Catering with house salad, beef brisket, braised green beans and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Adult beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $50 each.

WESTSIDE SOUL SURFERS LIVE @ THE DECK

Beachside live music sets the tone at The Deck as the Westside Soul Surfers take the stage. This ten-piece, horn-driven group covers a broad mix of favorites, including songs associated with Steely Dan, Santana, Toto, Etta James, and Joe Cocker. The band first came together when Muskegon Summer Celebration reached out to a couple of the members to see if they had a group that could play in a tent.

The setlist flows with the audience, with the band leaning into the songs that get the best response.

2026 Future 15

This awards celebration highlights 15 rising young professionals from the Muskegon Lakeshore region, recognizing excellence in their workplaces and meaningful service to the community. The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce and JCI Greater Muskegon will honor the recipients at The Deck. Admission is free, with an optional $5 donation at the door or in advance to support the Watch Muskegon campaign. No beach parking pass is required on Wednesdays, and the event will be held rain or shine.

Cowboy Gospel Day Camp

Cowboy Gospel Day Camp welcomes young cowboys and cowgirls ages 4 to 15 for a one day Home on the Range adventure at Muskegon County Fairgrounds. The experience features roping games, hands on activities, creative western themed crafts, and horseback riding and roping experiences, with lunch and snacks provided from a chuck wagon inspired menu. Throughout the day, campers explore lessons about boundaries, safety, and self worth through a cowboy gospel focus. Registration offers an early bird rate of $45 or $55 on the day of camp. Closed toe shoes are required, and participants should dress for dusty fun in a working cattle barn. A completed consent form is required to take part.

High-Performance Boat and Marine Technology Expo

Set at Heritage Landing, this showcase highlights high performance boats and the marine technologies that power them. Exhibitors are invited to present vessels along with the engineering innovations and advanced systems driving today’s high performance marine industry. The program is connected with the STEM-focused Celebration of Service with Drone Show and coincides with Muskegon Powerboat Weekend. It aims to celebrate marine innovation and spark interest in future engineers.

EMO BEACH PARTY! w/LOUDERNOW at The Deck in Muskegon, MI!

An emo beach party brings a high energy, two and a half hour set of pop punk and emo favorites to The Deck. LOUDERNOW, a Midwest pop punk and emo tribute band, performs live on the sand with a setlist that spans more than 50 artists and a spirit that calls back to the days of skinny jeans, studded belts, eyeliner and loud singalongs. The set includes covers of staples like Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance, along with surprises inspired by the Myspace and Warped Tour era. Admission is free. This is an outdoor, on-the-beach show, so plan accordingly. The theme embraces an early 2000s throwback, from all black outfits and teased hair to band tees, seat belt style belts and stacks of bracelets.

MCFA WAGON WHEEL SHOW

Set at Muskegon County Fairgrounds, this Wagon Wheel Classic show features a trail segment in advance of main ring activity, with the main ring evaluated by a single judge. The complete show bill and judge details will be announced soon.

FATHERS DAY CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

5th Annual Jeep Night @ Getty Drive-In w/ Special Pricing!

Their sets include diverse medleys that draw on The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, party songs, 70s rock, and even alternative and punk, blending a variety of covers with several original songs. Trivia Night at Pincrest!

Celebrate summer with a trivia night on the patio at Pincrest Bar & Lanes. The event features three rounds of questions followed by a Name That Tune style music challenge.

2026 Ravenna Dog Daze

This event features a car showcase and arts and crafts. Families can take advantage of complimentary vision screenings for children and a no-cost kids raffle with more than 20 prize bundles. Kids can also enjoy a 30-foot climbing wall, face painting, and balloon animals at no charge. Community groups will be on hand, a Lions 50/50 raffle will be held, and there will be food, music, and more.
