June Summerween Tournament

Celebrate Summerween with a competitive pinball tournament at Pinball Social Club in Willard, Missouri, presented as a Stern Army event. The format features 12 rounds of match play, with finals using a three-game bank for qualifying players based on attendance. Games will rotate between DMD and solid state as much as possible each round, and the top half of the field, rounded down, advances to finals. Entry is $20, and all machines are set to free play. Trophies go to first, second, and third place, while fourth place earns a free T-shirt or a return pass. A random raffle will include a Stern translite and other surprises, and there is an extra prize for the best costume. Indoor seating is very limited, and there is patio seating outside. Food, drinks, and snacks are available next door at Casey’s, and attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs. Complimentary bottled water will be provided. RSVPs are encouraged. Doors open beforehand for registration and practice, and any format adjustments will be communicated before competition begins.

Treat Trot Springfield takes place at Truman Elementary School in Springfield, Missouri, offering distances that welcome all paces and fitness levels. Race day begins with packet pickup, followed by the Kids Dash gathering at the main start line before participants are guided to their starting area. The national anthem precedes the race start, and results with awards are posted at the registration tent as finishers come in. Every registration includes a designer shirt, a custom medal, chip timing with live results and awards, free photos, and finish-line snacks. Youth pricing is available for the 5k and 10k at $17 for ages 12 and under. Distance options include 5k, 10k, and 15k entries that come with a custom race bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal. Held at Phelps Grove Park on a 40 foot outdoor stage, the concert creates a lively open air atmosphere for all ages. Art Zone offers a weekly toddler class focused on playful, messy creativity. Children explore materials and experiment with early mark making while connecting with other toddlers. Each session also includes movement with Ms Jenni, combining stretching, dancing, and art into one experience. This class is themed How to Catch a Daddysaurus, and students will make a clay dinosaur. Raku Sculpting

At Art Zone, this two-part event begins with guided sculpting, where participants create a vase or other sculptures with techniques aimed at achieving strong Raku glaze results. The second session features the dramatic Raku firing process, and participants can either experience the firing firsthand or have the Art Zone team complete it. Open to ages 18 and up, the price covers both sessions and includes Raku glazing and firing. A $25 option includes 1.5 pounds of clay, and additional clay can be purchased at the door. Donut Vases, pre-thrown by Art Zone staff and kept wet for altering, can be transformed into vases or sculptures and are available in a range of sizes at varying prices. Raku is a fast firing method where red-hot glazed pieces are placed into combustibles like sawdust or newspaper, creating a reduction environment that draws oxygen from the glaze. The results often include metallic and iridescent finishes. Originating in Japan for tea bowls and later expanded by American ceramist Paul Soldner, the approach embraces vivid, unpredictable surfaces that define the art form.

This camp day is intentionally very messy. It begins with clay work, then moves outdoors for a squirt gun paint fight. Students will be covered in watered down paint that may stain clothing. SRD hosts free regular home games for the Southwest Missouri community, with chances to support the skaters by picking up team merchandise, entering raffles, or making a donation. Concessions from the venue will be available throughout the event. The action features two bouts: All Stars versus Tulsa Elite, followed by Battle Brigade versus Rolla Rockets. Hot Dog Weiner Eatin Contest

Springfield Raceway hosts a full slate of dirt-track action capped by Fire Fall Fireworks 2026, a patriotic celebration presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts and KTTS 94.7. The show is produced by A.M. Pyrotechnics of Buffalo, Missouri and pairs seven weekly classes of racing with a fireworks finale. A tailgate car-load section is available for $30 per vehicle with no occupancy limit. In this area, coolers and grills are allowed, a large projector will show the racing and the fireworks, and the track itself is not visible, while the fireworks are. Entry to the grandstands or pits requires a separate ticket. General admission is $22, seniors and military are $20, kids from age 6 through high school are $3, and ages 5 and under are free. The grandstands and pits are cash only, an ATM is on site, outside food and drink are not permitted in the grandstands, and a clear bag policy is in effect. Spectator parking is free, and viewing from parking areas is not allowed except in the designated tailgate section. A pit party driver meet and greet takes place in the tailgate area, where cars will be on display for autographs and photos. Food specials include $2 hot dogs while supplies last. The first annual hot dog eating contest offers a $100 winner-take-all prize, a $1 entry fee, and is limited to five entrants. One lucky race fan will also receive an Indigo Sky Casino Play & Stay package that includes a one-night room, dining credit, and rewards credit for two. Racing divisions include B Mods, MW Modzs, Legends, Full Body, Mini Stock or FWD, and Bombers, with posted payouts highlighted by $500 to win for B Mods and $300 to win in several other classes. The night salutes the Fourth of July and 250 years of the USA at the quarter-mile clay oval.

The Historic Gillioz Theatre presents Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters on the 2026 Morro Rock Tour, celebrating the arrival of their album “In The Bay,” the 21st release from J.D. Big Daddy's 27 For Vets Ride

Celebrate the First Annual Big Daddy's 27 For Vets Ride, a 27 mile cycling event held in memory of Big Daddy, a Navy veteran who served in Vietnam and long supported Ride 417 Cycling by helping at rest stops and offering sag support. The tentative starting point is the Bullseye in Willard. Organized in partnership with Kyle Johnson of Gershman Mortgage, this ride raises funds for the Veterans Coming Home Center, and every dollar collected goes to that cause. A $20 donation is requested. Riders can look forward to door prizes, a boxed lunch, drinks, a dedicated rest stop, and sag support provided by Bicycle Outlet. The route is posted on Strava, with more details to follow. A Walkabout training session invites current members of Alliance of Therapy Pets and those interested in membership to practice real-world skills with their friendly dogs in a public setting. Slip Cast Workshop

At Art Zone, explore slip casting with vintage plaster molds. Learn how to make casting slip from any clay body, pour and remove casts from molds, and clean the forms. Participants keep a casting they have cleaned and finish it with glaze. This workshop is intended for ages 12 and up. Bracker’s Terra Blanc clay will be used, suitable for firings from cone 05 through cone 5. Finished pieces will be ready one week after the workshop. While in the studio, browse the selection of clay bodies available at Art Zone. Free Sports Physicals

Willard Medical Center is offering free sports physicals for middle and high school athletes during the hours listed for this event. Scheduling an appointment is encouraged to secure a spot, but walk-ins will be accommodated, and you do not need to be an established patient. The complimentary rate applies only during the event window. At other times, sports physicals are $44, with payment due at the time of service. If you also plan to complete a wellness exam, the sports physical form can be handled during that visit. Most insurance plans include one no-cost wellness exam each calendar year. Acrylic Painting: Fruit Salad

At Art Zone, this acrylic painting class centers on a fruit-themed project and guides participants through layering techniques that build depth and vibrant color. Instruction is led by Savannah Miller, an award-winning artist who created the class example and is studying at Drury University with an emphasis in art. All materials are included, and each painter works on an 11x14 canvas. Open to ages 8 and older.

Happy Hands The ABC’s of Art

Happy Hands is a weekly toddler art class at Art Zone that centers on playful, hands-on creativity. Young artists try out different materials, practice early mark making, and connect with fellow toddlers, then move their bodies with Ms Jenni through stretching and dancing. Guardians remain with students throughout the session. Story-inspired projects include The ABC’s of Art with an alphabet painting, The Crayon Box that Talked with a collage, Red, A Crayons Story with a paper mache crayon, and Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes with a clay Pete. Pricing is $8 for drop-in or $35 for a month pass. Missed classes are not eligible for refunds or credits, and the month pass does not include refunds or discounts for absences.

Homeschool Art & Dance: Clay Castle

Designed with homeschoolers in mind, this Art and Dance class invites ages 5 and up to build a castle tower and melt glass to form the surrounding moat. Participants may take both Art and Dance together or choose only one of the two options. Finished pieces will be ready two weeks after the work is completed. Instruction is provided by Catherine Russell, who holds a BSED in K12 Art Education from MSU and a master’s degree in Studio Art and Theory from Drury University. Her experience includes 17 years teaching at Clever RV schools, and service on the Missouri Art Education Board as District Representative and Elementary Chair.

Summer Art Camps Aug 10-14

Summer art camps at Art Zone offer flexible full-day and half-day options with daily themes shared in the event listings. Early drop off and late pick up are available for an additional $5 each. Students ages 5 and up are welcome. Please send a sack lunch for the scheduled lunch break and notify Art Zone of any known allergies. Pricing is $40 for a single full day and $25 for a half day, with multi-day discounts of $110 for three full days, $155 for four full days, and $175 for five full days. Participants who attend five full days in the same week will also get time on the pottery wheel at no additional cost.

Amber Violet brings a live set to Palm & Paddle Grille, pairing the music with a lively Springfield atmosphere and food and drinks from the kitchen and bar. A singer songwriter who has been performing over the past couple of years, she has appeared at festivals, listening rooms, and private gatherings around Arkansas. She accompanies herself on guitar and keyboard, blending influences from country, pop, punk, alternative, and classic rock into songs that highlight her distinctive voice.

NGM Neighbors N Need drive-through pantry

New Growth Ministry shares food and household supplies with neighbors in need in Springfield and Greene County through an outdoor, drive-through distribution. Vehicles line up outside the front gate and continue around the corner for pickup. A team member will register each family by collecting the head of household’s name and the number of household members. This is a no barrier pantry, and each household must be represented in person, with no more than two households per car. No Social Security card or proof of income is required. Designed for new digital camera owners and anyone just entering the world of digital photography, this single-session course builds comfort and confidence with a new camera. The class covers caring for your equipment, using essential controls, understanding how shutter and flash functions work, selecting scene modes, and exploring output and printing choices, plus practical shooting tips you can apply right away. It runs about 1.5 to 2 hours and has no prerequisites. The cost is $25, or free with a qualifying camera and Camera+ purchase, with details available in store. Enrollment is limited, typically ranging from 8 to 15 participants depending on the venue.

Families can access advanced heart screening for children at a reduced cost through a partnership with Devon’s Beat, a Missouri nonprofit. Each HeartCheck is $35 per child, compared with the regular My HeartCheck price of $179, and testing done in a hospital setting can cost hundreds or more. The screening includes both an ECG and an echocardiogram, which is ultrasound imaging of the heart, offering a more complete view of a child’s heart health than a sports physical, a standard checkup, or an ECG only screening. In about 30 minutes, parents receive meaningful peace of mind and the chance to identify potential heart conditions that might otherwise go undetected.

Movie Matinee: Hit the Deck

Historic Gillioz Theatre presents a Movie Matinee screening of the 1955 film Hit the Deck. The story follows a bosun's mate, portrayed by Tony Martin, and two shipmates whose shore leave in San Francisco leads them to three women and a series of complications. Doors open before the screening and a round of trivia takes place beforehand. A ticket and concession voucher package is available that includes admission, a snack, and a non-alcoholic drink. Seniors aged 60 and above can receive a complimentary combo ticket with valid ID upon arrival. Producer level 26 Club Members are eligible for one free matinee ticket per film and can redeem it by selecting the 26 Club Producer Member option.
