Karina Rykman w/ Julia Barfield at Asheville Music Hall

Asheville · Asheville Music Hall, 31 Patton Ave

Karina Rykman delivers a bass-driven, joy-filled performance that blends jam rock and indie pop with a splash of psychedelia. A New York City native who began gigging in her teens, she was invited during her NYU years to join Marco Benevento’s band at the recommendation of Ween’s Dave Dreiwitz, leading to numerous shows that included dates with Vulfpeck, Dispatch, and The Claypool Lennon Delirium. She later launched her own trio with Adam November on guitar, loopers, and effects, and Chris Corsico on drums, building a reputation for high-energy sets that swing from dreamy textures to heavy, saturated grooves with fun at the center. Her resume features festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Peach Music Festival, and Sweetwater 420 Fest, opening slots with Khruangbin, My Morning Jacket, and Tedeschi Trucks Band, and sit-ins with the Late Night with Seth Meyers house band. Rykman’s debut album, Joyride, arrived in August 2023 on AWAL, created with producer and longtime friend Gabe Monro, with Trey Anastasio co-producing and contributing guitar to five of the nine tracks. Her concerts often feel like a gathering of friends, reflecting her easy charisma and strong connection to the live music community. Artist presale and advance general admission tickets are $25.
