The Riftbound - Spiritforged Summoner Skirmish features head-to-head constructed play in best-of-three sets. Entry costs $10 and the field is capped at 32 competitors. Support a 17-year-old named Kadence as she prepares for major jaw surgery at a community fundraiser hosted at Concord Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1631. Caterers The Red Blazer, 603 BBQ, and Veano’s Italian Restaurant will provide the food, and access to the food is $20 per person. The VFW bar will be open for drinks, and outside beverages are not permitted. Raffles for a variety of items will be available at $10 per ticket. Attendees can meet the family and help raise funds so Kadence can receive the care she needs. Additional donations are welcome.

Free Lecture: 'BECOMING SOVEREIGN'- Concord, NH

A free lecture at Blooming Tree Yoga LLC with Marconics teacher Melissa Poste explores practical ways to move beyond fear and step into personal sovereignty. The talk addresses how energetic countercurrents can influence thoughts, beliefs, and the lightbody, and considers the role that density, duality, and separation have played in obscuring a deeper cosmic self and connection to all that is. NE Roots and Branches: Music From North & South

Concord Community Music School’s New England Roots and Branches series spotlights the traditions that shape New England folk music. This installment focuses on tunes that travel between Canada and the Appalachian South, unfolding as a gathering that starts with an easygoing jam, features a concert at its center, and concludes with an upbeat jam. Musicians of any skill level are welcome to bring instruments and join the opening and closing sessions alongside faculty and guest artists Audrey Budington, Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki, and Liz Faiella on fiddles, with Dan Faiella on guitar. No instrument or contra dance experience is required to attend and enjoy. Admission is free and all are welcome, with support provided in part by an arts grant from the City of Concord, New Hampshire.

Spring Cleaning Volunteer Day with The Dewey School

Community members, Canterbury Shaker Village supporters, and families from The Dewey School come together for a spring cleanup focused on beautifying the grounds. Activities include raking and gathering leaves, hauling brush and winter debris, freshening the Meadow area behind The Dewey School and the Trustee’s Office, and preparing garden beds for herb and flower planting. Instructions and task assignments are provided on site. Please park in the Village parking lot and meet at The Dewey School. Children are warmly welcomed. There are simple ways for kids to take part, such as helping with leaf raking, collecting sticks, watering plants, and assisting with small tasks alongside adults, with space nearby for open-ended play and exploration. The effort supports natural play spaces and learning opportunities for students and helps the Village fine tune the landscape while building on volunteer work done over the winter.

The Movers and Shakers Trail Club brings people together at Canterbury Shaker Village to connect with a community of like-minded individuals, explore the Shakers’ history and legacy, and enjoy recreation across 694 acres and four miles of trails. Participants can move at a comfortable pace with walking, running, or snowshoeing, depending on the season and interests. Creative options are welcome too, including photography, plein air painting, or finding a peaceful spot to read with a view. After time on the trails, the group gathers at the Garden Barn to socialize and build personal and professional connections. This club meets on the last Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

LEVEL 1 Advanced Motorcycle Skills Course

An eight hour, high challenge course at New Hampshire Motor Speedway designed for licensed riders. The program combines Precision & Control with Defensive Riding Skills to help riders manage their motorcycles both on the road and at slow speeds. Techniques refined by police motorcycle officers anchor the curriculum, aiming to raise abilities for riders at any level. Participants who successfully complete the course receive a certificate along with a sharper skill set and renewed confidence. The focus is not on ego, but on control, confidence, and survival. Many discover there is more to learn than expected, and leave with practical insights that can make a vital difference on the road.

Harmony Horsemanship: Rider Biomechanics

Deepen the partnership between rider and horse with Rider Biomechanics 101 by Melissa Ellis, a clinic tailored to all experience levels. Through a combination of off-horse learning and mounted practice, participants explore how subtle changes in alignment, muscle engagement, and posture influence a horse’s movement and enhance communication in the saddle. Concepts that once felt out of reach are presented in a clear, accessible way. The day begins in the classroom, followed by riding sessions where horses and riders are grouped by similar ability. Horses should be well mannered under saddle. Most exercises are designed for the walk, making the clinic suitable for green horses or those managing light soundness concerns. The rider fee is $175, with an optional day stall for an additional $40 that includes bedding, hay, and water.

Spring Clean-Up

A spring cleanup at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery will bring the community together to care for the grounds and honor veterans and their families. Volunteers can lend a hand with raking, leaf blowing, cleaning headstones, and picking up sticks, a task well suited for kids. A limited number of rakes will be available, and participants are encouraged to bring their own along with gloves. Refreshments will be provided by the NHVCA.

Spring Break Skill Development Camp

Make the most of spring break with a three-day basketball skills clinic at Bishop Brady High School designed for athletes in grades 3 through 12. Each session blends focused instruction with live play, with the first hour dedicated to targeted skill work and the second hour devoted to scrimmages that put those skills into action. The curriculum spans three themes across the clinic, progressing from refining shooting technique, to handling the ball confidently under pressure, and then building basketball IQ with an emphasis on understanding why as well as how so that smart reads create easy points. Pricing options include an early rate of $125 for the full three days, a standard rate of $150 for the complete clinic, and $60 for a single day.

Spring Leaf Collection

Concord’s spring curbside leaf program returns for households that receive city trash service. Set out only leaves and make sure they are contained in biodegradable yard waste bags or in sturdy containers clearly marked for leaves. Loose piles are not collected in the spring, since bulk pickup happens only in the fall. A revised weekly setout approach now aligns with the fall bagged program, allowing crews to collect at any point during the week and not necessarily on the same day as trash, depending on volume. Branches, brush, and plastic bags are not accepted. Residents who prefer to drop off material can take leaves to the Fort Eddy Road Reprocessing Center operated by Raymond’s Landscaping LLC when it is open for the season. Drop-off is free with proof of residency for loads smaller than a non commercial pickup truck. Residents must empty containers at the site so staff can verify loads contain only leaves. Bags are not required for drop off, and any bins or barrels used to transport leaves must be brought back home.

Red River Theatres presents a one-night big-screen presentation of Princess Mononoke, the epic fantasy from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. A young warrior journeys into a mystical forest to break a deadly curse and becomes entangled in a struggle between industrial expansion and the spirits of nature, with the wolf-raised Princess Mononoke at the forefront. Honor & History: NH State Veterans Cemetery Walking Tour

Director Shawn Buck leads a guided walk through the NH State Veterans Cemetery, sharing the story of the grounds and the cemetery’s mission to provide a dignified resting place for veterans and eligible dependents in gratitude for their service. Participants also learn about ways to support Granite State veterans, along with AARP resources for veterans. The grounds are largely accessible, while the Memorial Walkway includes some narrow sections with brick and paver surfaces that can feel uneven, and ramps are available throughout the cemetery. The event is free with advance registration, and capacity is limited.

High Street Coffee House welcomes singer songwriter Andrew Bohrmann for his first appearance. Raised in Yarmouth, Maine and now based in Windham, he has been playing guitar since 1981. His performances blend influences from bluegrass, rock and roll, heavy metal, blues, folk, classical, and jazz, with a mix of original songs and covers. As a lyricist and composer, he explores a wide range of styles and subjects from piece to piece. The featured artist typically opens and closes the program, with up to eight open mic spots in between. Musicians, poets, and comedians can share two songs or perform for up to ten minutes, and advance sign ups are encouraged. Open mic priority is given to those who did not take part in the March event. Admission is free, and a donation basket will be passed. The sanctuary is accessible. Refreshments are available by donation, including coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, desserts, snacks, and several hot choices suitable for a light meal, with vegetarian and gluten free options.

The Pet Vaccination Clinic at Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord Merrimack County provides a range of services for pets. Available options include a rabies vaccine for $40, distemper and kennel cough vaccines for $30 each, microchipping for $30, feline leukemia for $35, and K9 Lyme for $45. Advance online registration with pre-payment is required, and walk-ins are not accepted. During registration, list your pet’s date of birth rather than a general age, complete the online consent form, and include the make and color of your vehicle to help with check-in. When you arrive, go to the back of the building and remain in your vehicle until a volunteer or staff member checks you in. If your pet will receive a rabies vaccine, bring the most current rabies certificate so it can be determined whether a 1 year or 3 year vaccine is appropriate. For safety, dogs must be on a leash, and cats or ferrets must be in a carrier. Space is limited.

Traditional Spoon Carving || with Nicholas WazeeGale

Explore the Scandinavian approach to spoon carving in a two-day class with instructor Nicholas WazeeGale. Working with a sloyd knife, a hook knife, an axe, and a saw, participants practice foundational carving strokes and learn how to turn green wood into useful, beautiful spoons that can be made at home or by a campfire. The curriculum covers spoon function and design, which wood species work well and how to find them, how to rough out blanks, safety throughout the process, introductory sharpening, and finishing techniques. The first day features learning exercises and warm up projects, along with carving a first spoon from a prepared blank. On the second day, everyone roughs out another spoon, possibly two, and continues carving to reinforce and refine skills. Lunch is provided. This class is for adults. A $40 materials fee applies. If you do not already own one, plan to purchase a Mora #120 carving knife from the instructor at the class for $24 in cash, or source one ahead of time. Consider bringing a notebook and pen and cut resistant gloves if you are concerned about cuts. Dress for the weather since the class will likely take place outdoors. If it is especially cold, sessions can move into the shop. The available restroom is an outhouse. Tuition is offered on a sliding scale, not including materials. The Supporter level is $280 for those with ample financial flexibility, which helps keep programs accessible to others. The Sustainer level is $230 for those who can meet needs with mindful budgeting, helping maintain the work at a steady pace. The Supported level is $180 for those with limited resources or who would not be able to attend without a discount.

The Capital Area Race Series returns to Canterbury Shaker Village with a cross country 5K that explores the property’s trails, fields, ponds, and pastures at this National Historic Landmark. Laps for Charity - Road Course (May 22)

Take a spin on one of New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s racing surfaces by driving your own vehicle or riding in the official NHMS pace car, all while supporting children in need throughout New England. This session takes place on the 1.6 mile road course and offers two options. Three group laps in your own vehicle or as a passenger in the pace car are $60 per vehicle and include a photo in victory lane. Five VIP laps in your own vehicle, with only you and the pace car on the road course, are $150 and also include a victory lane photo. Photos are emailed after the event. Buried New Hampshire with Rick Davidson & Bill Thompson

Rick Davidson and Bill Thompson present Volumes 1 and 2 of Buried New Hampshire, a pair of books that explore the state’s burial places and the stories they hold. Blending careful research, community lore, and reflection, their work offers a fresh look at New Hampshire’s cultural history through the lives of people whose resting places are sometimes overlooked or forgotten. The journey spans the seacoast, the White Mountains, and the Great North Woods, highlighting landscapes that range from park-like city cemeteries to solitary markers deep in the forest. Headstones reveal accounts of courage and sorrow, and while many personal histories have faded, others endure in local memory. Created for Fonthill Media and Alan Sutton Publishing, the authors spent a year tracing legends, following leads, and photographing cemeteries across New Hampshire. They share vivid color images and findings from their research. Familiar names appear alongside figures tied to crime, acts of heroism, and other unusual stories, some tragic and some inspiring, with mysteries that still remain. About the authors: Rick Davidson is a photographer, novelist, and retired teacher who, with his wife Jane, ran Davidson Photography and Video. His teaching experience includes Kingswood Middle School, Kennett High School, Stuttgart University, adult education, and business settings in Germany. He is the author of three thrillers and a New Hampshire history, and he enjoys traveling with his wife, walking with the family dog Huck, time on the Maine coast, snowshoeing, playing guitar, writing, family time, and fly fishing. Bill Thompson and his wife Janet owned the North Country Angler Fly Shop in North Conway. He was a licensed New Hampshire fishing guide and wrote The Valley Angler fishing column for the local paper for 19 years as well as a monthly column for The New Hampshire Outdoor Gazette. His flies have appeared in several books and are still used on local rivers. He enjoys classic cars and trucks, photography, writing, and walks with his dog Willow.

Now in its fourth year, the Top Cop motorcycle skills challenge presented by Whelen brings a skills-focused competition to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for both new and experienced riders. Divisions include novice and expert police, expert metric, and novice and expert civilians. Details about a new course pattern and an updated format will be shared as the event approaches. Practice and registration are available on Friday and Saturday. Sunday includes additional registration, the timed challenge, and a trophy presentation when competition concludes. NZN Horsemanship Ranch Days Retreats

Spend three half days at Gelinas Farm in a small-group horsemanship retreat guided by Elaina Enzien. The focus is on deepening the partnership between rider and horse while building the skills needed for a versatile, working mount. Identity theft affects millions each year, and the losses are staggering. In 2024 alone, 18 million people across the country lost $47 billion, which amounts to a new victim roughly every 1.7 seconds. To support safer habits with personal information, AARP New Hampshire and Service Credit Union are partnering on a free community shred-a-thon in Concord focused on secure document disposal. Attendees can bring sensitive papers such as bank statements, canceled checks, credit card solicitations, and receipts that include identifying details. Please limit drop-offs to three bags or boxes per vehicle. Magazines and newspapers are not accepted. Remove large binder clips and plastic, while staples and paper clips can stay. Shredding takes place on site in a mobile truck, and the event is open to everyone at no cost.

Humanities Event- New England's Colonial Meetinghouses

Discover the story of New England’s colonial meetinghouses in a visual presentation that explores how these buildings, largely funded by local taxes, served as both places of worship and centers for town governance. Illustrated with photographs of a small number of exceptionally well preserved examples, photographer Paul Wainwright traces the communities that built and used them and the influence they have had on American culture. Attendance is free and open to everyone. Onsite parking is available, and light refreshments will follow the presentation. Paul Wainwright brings a unique perspective shaped by a lifelong interest in photography and history, a Ph.D. in physics from Yale, and years at Bell Labs before dedicating himself to photography full time in 2001, with a focus on historic structures captured in a personal, reflective style. New Hampshire Humanities programs receive partial support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and this program is co-hosted with the Pembroke Historical Society and the Friends of the Pembroke Town Library.

Laps for Charity - Road Course (July 10)

Drive your own vehicle on the 1.6-mile road course at New Hampshire Motor Speedway or ride as a passenger in the official NHMS pace car, all while supporting the New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities and helping children in need throughout New England. Choose three laps in a group setting for $60 per vehicle, which includes a Victory Lane photo, or opt for the VIP experience with five laps in your own vehicle with only the pace car on track for $150, also including a Victory Lane photo. SCDA at New Hampshire Motorspeedway 7/17/26

SCDA presents a High Performance Driver Education track day at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, focused on building driver skill with an emphasis on safety, learning, and quality seat time. Participants can expect four to five on track sessions, and SCCA licensed racers have dedicated Closed Wheel and Open Wheel run groups. The event uses the same configuration as the SCCA race weekend, pairing the South Oval with the North Chicane. Drivers of all experience levels are welcome, including Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. Novice participants receive in car coaching, and every group benefits from professional classroom instruction. Race car rentals are available. New Hampshire Motor Speedway features a 1.6 mile layout that blends a road course with sections of the NASCAR Spring Cup Oval. Entry fees are $449 for Intermediate and Advanced drivers and $599 for Novice, which includes in car instruction. Discounts, which cannot be combined, include $50 off for BMW or MINI drivers, $50 off for licensed racers, and early registration savings of $50 two months prior or $25 one month prior.
