Rollins Park hosts a performance in the Summer of Music Series, which features more than 30 concerts around Concord, NH. Nevers’ Second Regiment Band, Concord’s professional community band, offers a family friendly program that blends popular favorites, patriotic selections, classic orchestral pieces arranged for band, and music from films. Paul Tremblay Presents Dead but Dreaming of Electric Sheep

Paul Tremblay returns to Gibson’s to talk about his new novel, Dead but Dreaming of Electric Sheep, in conversation with fellow horror author Nicky Gonzalez, whose debut Mayra earned a longlisting for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. The story follows Julia Flang, a twenty-something former semi-pro gamer living with her retired uncle and stuck in two jobs she dislikes. When her estranged mother, a CFO at a major tech company, offers a short-term role with irresistible pay, Julia takes on an unusual assignment… escorting a man in a vegetative state, outfitted with proprietary AI, from California to the East Coast. Using a phone styled like a game controller, she clumsily guides the man she calls Bernie from the company campus, onto flights, and through one of the nation’s largest airports. Inside Bernie’s mind, a middle-aged man awakens in a shifting nightmare of grotesque images with no sense of who he is, only fragments like a rabbit tattoo and an urgent mission to find someone he cannot name. As the clues mount and their paths converge, Julia and Bernie become uneasy partners and fugitives, headed toward a confrontation with reality. Tremblay is a multiple award-winning, critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling author of eight earlier novels that include Horror Movie, The Pallbearers Club, Survivor Song, The Cabin at the End of the World, Disappearance at Devil’s Rock, A Head Full of Ghosts, No Sleep Till Wonderland, and The Little Sleep, along with a middle-grade book, Another, and the collections The Beast You Are and Growing Things. He lives with his family just outside Boston. Gonzalez is a writer from Hialeah, Florida, with fiction in outlets such as McSweeney’s, BOMB, Kenyon Review, Taco Bell Quarterly, and more.

Humanities Event- New England's Colonial Meetinghouses

Discover the story of New England’s colonial meetinghouses in a visual presentation that explores how these buildings, largely funded by local taxes, served as both places of worship and centers for town governance. Illustrated with photographs of a small number of exceptionally well preserved examples, photographer Paul Wainwright traces the communities that built and used them and the influence they have had on American culture. Attendance is free and open to everyone. Onsite parking is available, and light refreshments will follow the presentation. Paul Wainwright brings a unique perspective shaped by a lifelong interest in photography and history, a Ph.D. in physics from Yale, and years at Bell Labs before dedicating himself to photography full time in 2001, with a focus on historic structures captured in a personal, reflective style. Tire Rack Street Survival - Loudon NH

Teen drivers spend a full day at NH Motor Speedway in a real world, hands on Tire Rack Street Survival school that focuses on car control at the limits and smart decision-making. Students use their own cars with a coach, learning to manage unpredictable situations, react more quickly, build awareness, and start anticipating the actions of other drivers. The day blends about two hours of classroom across three sessions with extensive behind-the-wheel practice. On course, participants work on skid control on a wet skid pad, rapid lane changes for accident avoidance, threshold braking and ABS, and a slalom that teaches weight transfer. Where possible, the curriculum adds a two wheels off recovery and a tailgating exercise. Classroom topics include proper seating and hand positions, mirror setup, the tire contact patch, weight transfer theory, long distance vision, and situational awareness, along with discussions about distractions such as radios and phones. Where possible, a semi truck may be staged to demonstrate blind spots by having students and adults sit in the cab, and an air bag may be deployed to reinforce safe hand placement. Parents are encouraged to spend the day, may attend the classroom portion, and can speak with instructors who are available throughout the day. Lunch is provided for students, parents, and volunteers. The course fee is $175.

NZN Horsemanship MINI Ranch Day

NZN Horsemanship MINI Ranch Day offers a one day clinic for riders who want a focused ranch experience without committing to multiple days. Modeled on the original Ranch Days, it condenses the program into a full day dedicated to building a balanced partnership with your horse under the guidance of Elaina Enzien. Attendance is limited to eight participants for a customized experience, allowing each rider to zero in on personal goals such as mechanical flag work, cattle work, or horsemanship that prepares a horse to handle cattle. The approach emphasizes purposeful tasks for the horse and practical progress for the rider, so participants leave with useful skills and fresh ideas to develop a versatile, working partner. The fee is $250 for the day. A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required to hold a spot, and you will choose the date you want to secure during registration. When booking, note any accommodation needs. Overnight stalling is available for $30 per night, and truck ins are $20 per day.

Jennifer Anne Gordon presents Perfect Wives, Perfect Lies

Local author Jennifer Anne Gordon returns to Gibson's to introduce her new psychological thriller, Perfect Wives, Perfect Lies. A fit for readers who enjoyed The Hunting Wives, the novel centers on Becca, a bereaved mother whose marriage has collapsed. She leans on work and her best friend, Lynn, by day, then escapes at night into a private social media group for moms overseen by the picture-perfect Karen. There, Becca adopts a crafted persona named Lucy, complete with stock photos and an idealized life in Seattle. Harmless pretending turns perilous as late-night dares and bad choices reveal something far darker. What starts with small transgressions escalates to kidnapping, assault, revenge, and murder, while the line between Becca’s reality and Lucy’s fiction wears thin and the performance leaves her feeling increasingly alive. From the author of Pretty/Ugly, this story takes the glossy wine mom world familiar from Big Little Lies and Desperate Housewives, places it in the anonymity of online spaces, and pushes the obsessions further into the shadows. Gordon is an award winning Gothic horror novelist and podcast host. Her debut, Beautiful, Frightening, and Silent, earned the 2020 Kindle Book Award for Best Horror and Suspense, and Pretty/Ugly received the 2022 Helicon Award for Best Horror along with the Kindle Book Award Reader’s Choice for Novel of the Year. Her essays have appeared in Miniskirt Magazine, Tangled Locks Journal, Lumina Journal, and Flash Glass. She lives in rural New Hampshire.
