The Wheel House of NHHiking Yoga with Yoga on York at York Land Trust
Take part in an optional hike followed by a yoga class with Amelia on the scenic grounds of York Land Trust. The route travels through Near Point Preserve, a one mile loop of meadows and forest along Smelt Brook with views of expansive marshlands and a pond. A wooded path leads to a salt marsh that supports blue herons, night herons, white egrets, and the rare saltmarsh sharp-tailed sparrow. Bobcat, river otters, and fox have also been seen along the brook, a major tributary of the York River, and the surrounding meadows provide forage for a variety of songbirds that nest on the property. Anyone who prefers to skip the hike can go directly to the Land Trust building for the class.
York Land TrustSunny War
Sunny War returns to The Press Room with a raw, genre crossing mix of folk, punk, blues, and roots, pairing agile guitar work with a voice that lingers. She draws from Armageddon in a Summer Dress, shaped during a solitary stay in her late father’s century old Chattanooga home, where a gas leak led to ghostly visions and songs about memory, loss, and the selves we leave behind. Building on the breakthrough of Anarchist Gospel and tours with artists such as Bonnie Raitt and Mitski, she expanded her sound through home demos where she played nearly all the instruments, opening the door to a bigger, more electric palette and collaborations that span from Steve Ignorant to Valerie June. Cursed On Earth joins the bill from New Hampshire’s Seacoast, now a quartet whose storytelling sits just outside traditional folk and bluegrass. Cousins Ryan Walters and Paul Justin Hollingsworth, with percussionist Sean Joseph Haney and cellist Curtis Barnes, weave banjo, ukulele, mandolin, and driving guitar into delicate melodies that explore fate, ghosts, wilderness, and the passage of time, a path that includes the fan supported release of Vol. 2 in 2019. All ages are welcome, with $20 in advance and $25 the day of.
