    See details

Parker Press Park hosts a co-bill featuring the Larry Mitchell Trio and Soul Project NOLA, pairing world-travelled guitar artistry with the pulse of New Orleans funk. Larry Mitchell, a Grammy Award winner known for his work as a producer, engineer and guitarist, has performed with Tracy Chapman, Billy Squier, Ric Ocasek and Miguel Bosé. His own music blends rich guitar layers that highlight both solo finesse and ensemble interplay. His discography includes nine solo albums and two EPs, along with a San Diego Music Award for best pop jazz artist. As a producer and engineer, he has earned 26 New Mexico Music Awards across genres ranging from pop and adult contemporary to rap, rock, country and Native American. He received a Grammy for producing, engineering and performing on Totemic Flute Chants by Johnny Whitehorse, also known as Robert Mirabal of Taos Pueblo. Soul Project NOLA brings original material alongside a soulful, funky spin on classics from their hometown tradition. Drawing on the musical fabric of New Orleans, the band weaves funk, jazz, blues, gospel and groove into a lively, dance-ready sound. Founder, singer and guitarist Cristian Duque studied under Walter “Wolfman” Washington and toured extensively with him. A tight rhythm section anchors the group’s signature grooves and precision arrangements, joined by top collaborators that have included bassist Wanda Jacobs, a New Orleans native and Grammy winner, keyboardist Mikey “B3” Burkart, saxophonist Eric Bernhart and drummer Wayne Maureau of Marcia Ball’s band. The group has earned praise from voices at WWOZ and Offbeat, and has performed across the United States as well as in Northern Europe at clubs and festivals.
