Doodle Your Soul returns with a hands-on arts and crafts class for kids. Children will create their own artwork and take their projects home afterward. The event is free, and an RSVP is requested to ensure enough supplies for everyone. An adult must remain with each child for the entire class.

A back-to-school vaccine clinic at Dilworth Middle School offers recommended school-required immunizations for students entering kindergarten and older. In most cases, insurance covers the vaccines. For children without insurance, the presenting sponsor, Molina Healthcare, will cover the cost while supplies last. No advance appointments are available, walk-ins only. The clinic aims to help students begin the school year healthy and ready to learn.

Year-Round Weekly Improv for Ages 7–17 (Every Tuesdays)

Weekly Tuesday improv sessions run year-round, offering a supportive space to explore quick thinking, creativity, and on-the-spot presentation skills through playful exercises. A flexible six-visit registration can be used over the course of a year, making it easy to fit sessions into a busy schedule. Sessions take place at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Reno, with the group meeting in the portable building behind the main church. Harmony on the River brings free, all-ages concerts to West Street Plaza, with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra collaborating with the City of Reno to share live music and community spirit. Participants learn ways to spot triggers, anticipate needs, and ease distress with straightforward, compassionate strategies. The session is led by Dr. Sandra Petersen, Senior VP of Health and Wellness and founder of the Connections memory care program, and includes time to ask questions, exchange experiences, and connect with others.

Reno Ice x Aces Fundraiser Night

Reno Ice teams up with the Aces for a fundraiser at Greater Nevada Field during the Aces vs. Rainiers game. Tickets purchased through the designated fundraiser link will send a portion of proceeds to support the Reno Ice rink. It is also Taco Tuesday, and fans in Reno Ice or Aces gear can pick up two tacos for five dollars while cheering for the home team. Be sure to purchase tickets by the stated deadline so they count toward the fundraiser.

Enduring Tradition and a Lifetime of Innovation with Gerald Clarke

At the Nevada Museum of Art, Gerald Clarke shares an overview of a practice that spans sculpture, installation, printmaking that incorporates branding, and performance. A visual artist, educator, tribal leader, and cultural practitioner, he is an enrolled citizen of the Cahuilla Band of Indians and maintains deep roots in the Anza Valley through countless generations of family history. He characterizes his art as conceptual, connected by perseverance and adaptation, and shaped by his perspective as a Cahuilla person and a global citizen in the 21st century. Clarke is a Professor of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Riverside, where he teaches about Native American art, history, and culture. His sculpture Continuum Basket is on view in a museum exhibition focused on Native American baskets and Pueblo pottery and is part of the Nevada Museum of Art’s permanent collection.

Rooted along the Wasatch Front and shaped in the shadow of the Rockies, he first found recognition in alternative rock, then spent years roaming Western highways with bird dogs, horses, and a Gibson for company. That road time left dust and grit in his sound, drawing from mountain passes and country roads. His songs travel through stark and beautiful spaces toward a rugged horizon, with detours into honky tonks for tales of scuffed hats, broken-in boots, and love. All ages are welcome. Admission is $10.

Artown Presents an Evening with Steep Canyon Rangers

Steep Canyon Rangers take the stage at Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater, presented by Artown, for an evening centered on the bluegrass foundations that first brought the band together and the renewed focus heard on their 15th studio album, Next Act. Formed in North Carolina and influenced by both the Appalachian highlands and the Piedmont, the group has carved a distinctive place in the American roots scene by balancing deep respect for bluegrass traditions with contemporary songwriting, literary touches, and regional storytelling. That approach has earned them a GRAMMY Award for Best Bluegrass Album for Nobody Knows You, additional nominations for Rare Bird Alert and North Carolina Songbook, and induction into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. In recent years they have leaned into acoustic clarity, tight ensemble interplay, and stories drawn from lived experience, and Next Act grows directly from that impulse. Black & Blue: A Night of Jazz & Poetry

Black & Blue: A Night of Jazz & Poetry pairs spoken word with live, improvised jazz. Preselected poets present their pieces with real time accompaniment by a local jazz trio, and there will also be moments of jazz-only performance. The event features guest poet Michelle Myers, known for appearing on HBO's Def Poetry Jam. All ages are welcome and there is no cover.

A summer gathering fills the courtyard at West Street Market with dance, live art, and curated music in a casual, open air setting. Presented as part of continuing programming and community engagement in the space and as a component of Artown, it offers a chance to connect with local artists and neighbors while enjoying nearby bars and restaurants. The program features a welcome and a mini GROOVE dance warm up with @groovenevada that is open to performers and the public. Throughout the night, @pan.pantoja creates original artwork on site for a silent auction. A dance showcase highlights @reno_world_dance, @confidancearts, @embracedanceco_reno, and @luminescent.dance, with special student performances from Tahoe Dance School, Dance Unlimited, Xscape Performing Arts Center, and Art in Motion. Dutch Pour Coasters

A special ARTOWN offering at Copper Cat Studio invites participants to explore Dutch pour painting, an abstract technique that uses air to move paint into flowing designs. Instructor Ruth Gault will cover materials, tools, and methods, then guide everyone through a practice coaster before creating a matching set of four to keep or give as a gift. Each pour results in a one of a kind look. Coasters must fully dry before sealing, and the class explains several finishing options, including glossy resin. This class is suitable for ages 15 and older. Online purchases include processing fees, and in person registration at the studio is available to avoid them. Pricing is $65 with cash or check and $70 with a credit or debit card. All ticket sales are final but transferable.

Artist Responses to a Changing Earth

Into the Time Horizon gathers a wide spectrum of artistic voices that address the climate crisis. Assistant Curator Kolin L. Perry leads an exploration of selected works from the exhibition, highlighting how artists are engaging with and responding to environmental change around the world. An artwork referenced in the materials is Kim Stringfellow’s Abandoned Trailer from Bombay Beach, California, photographed in 2000 and printed in 2009, a chromogenic print measuring about 30.5 by 38 inches from the Altered Landscape, Carol Franc Buck Collection at the Nevada Museum of Art.

Chicano Movie Night 2026 brings a drive-in celebration of community, culture, and legacy to West Wind El Rancho Drive-In Movies. The night features screenings of Born in East LA and Mi Familia, along with food trucks, vendors, and The Funktion Chicano Market. Special parking is available for lowriders and custom vehicles. Goodie bags will be given to the first 50 vehicles displaying any national flag, and all national flags are welcome and encouraged. Activities include face painting and hair tinsel to support the cause. Beauty Without Borders will host raffles and more to benefit immigrants. Tickets are available. The 15th Annual Reno Fashion Show takes place at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, marking its 15th year as part of Artown. A 125 foot runway sets the stage for a professionally produced presentation of original collections from a broad roster of designers and more than 200 models. The showcase spans couture, eveningwear, streetwear, accessories, costume design, and emerging brands, with each designer unveiling a distinct collection. Nevada City’s Earles of Newtown brings an eight-piece Americana sound that fuses Hot Jazz, gypsy jazz, and Western Swing into a joyful, high-spirited show. Partners and other support people are included with practical ways to help along the way. Participants leave with information to bring home and details on local resources. Founded in 2004 by Peruvian singer and bandleader Andy Gutierrez, whose earlier credits include Band Kache and Kalichin, the orchestra has become a fixture in the Bay Area salsa scene with appearances at GlasKat, Roccapulco, Cafe Cocomo, and festivals like the Fillmore Salsa Festival. The lineup features director and vocalist Andy Gutierrez alongside singers Ruby Rumbera and Aries Fuego, percussionists Sergio Duran, Ivan Lino Montes, Jake Jacobs, and Ryan Chesire, bassist Carlos Ramirez, pianist Jose Soto, and a brass section that includes Mara Fox, John, Rolf, Nathan, and others.
