KIZZ INTEL - TUESDAYS

KIZZ INTEL presents a weekly urban kiz training night built around a month-to-month curriculum. The current spotlight for Level 1 is Followers Saida, developed through practice and drills across the first three weeks, followed by a focused review in the fourth week. The same pattern extends across months, with the fourth month revisiting material from the previous three to reinforce learning. Each session includes an Intro to Kiz class followed by a Level 1 class in an environment described as inclusive, supportive, and fun. The concept blends the energy of urban kiz with an intelligence agency theme, paired with a black, white, and yellow visual identity featuring yellow KIZZ lettering and white INTEL text on a black background. Instruction is led by Eugene 'Tin Man' Cleveland and Brianna 'Breezy' Cooper, with Jesse 'Suave Salsero' Larkin as liaison. Contributions are donation based and can be made by cash, Square App QR code, Venmo, or Cash App. Classes are held at Village Gate Center on the second floor, and the organizers emphasize consistent participation and community growth.

A Modern Marriage: A Disco Rock-Opera

A Modern Marriage: A Disco Rock-Opera brings together Rochester musicians from Public Water Supply with vocalists Briana Horton and Abby Celso of The Swooners for a high-energy performance at Abilene Bar & Lounge. Written by Kris Schramm of Señor Jefe, Stars Malign, and K Robin Guitars, the show also features special guest Gary Lamaar. Cover is $10. Inspired by Millie Jackson’s Caught Up, this concept piece follows a married couple working through midlife stagnation and finding their way back to one another. The songs unfold like conversations between spouses and will resonate with those who know the rhythms of long-term commitment, including families with children. Themes of love and frustration, doubt and devotion, echo the Lovers card in Tarot and play out over a vibrant blend of dance-funk and disco-pop. The sound draws on contemporary influences like Remi Wolf, Joywave, and Magdalena Bay while nodding to classics including Parliament, Donna Summer, Prince, and Ann Peebles.

Blood, Sweat & Tears

The Rochester International Jazz Festival brings Blood, Sweat & Tears to The Theater at Innovation Square, highlighting the horn-driven fusion of rock, jazz, and blues that set the band apart. From late sixties rehearsals in a Bleeker Street loft in Greenwich Village, where people paused outside to clap between songs, founding drummer Bobby Colomby charted a course that has kept the group touring for more than five decades. Their debut, Child Is Father to the Man, drew modest attention, while the self-titled follow-up rose to the top of the charts for seven weeks, produced three top five singles, and earned the 1970 Grammy for Album of the Year, later reaching quadruple Platinum. Over the years the band has received ten Grammy nominations with three wins, along with honors such as a Playboy Jazz & Pop award, induction of the 1969 album into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002, and recognition as an Honorary Ambassador of Peace by the Republic of Korea in 2008. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass & Other Delights (Rochester, NY)

Herb Alpert appears at Kodak Center with an evening that spotlights the beloved Tijuana Brass sound alongside other highlights from an extraordinary career. A lifelong musician who picked up the trumpet at eight in a school music class, Alpert went on to score five No. 1 hits, earn nine GRAMMY Awards including one for the 2014 album Steppin’ Out, collect 15 Gold and 14 Platinum albums, and sell more than 72 million records. With the Tijuana Brass he reached pop culture heights, at one time outselling the Beatles two to one, and in 1966 placing four albums in the Top 10 and five in the Top 20 at the same time. He also stands alone as the only artist to top the charts with both an instrumental and a vocal single. After a milestone year in 2025 that marked his 90th birthday and the 60th anniversary of Whipped Cream & Other Delights, Alpert launched a newly assembled Tijuana Brass for the first time in more than three decades, and this tour continues into 2026.
