Presented by Birchwood School of Hawken, this free outdoor movie series transforms Crocker Park’s Union Square Lawn, next to Regal Cinema, into an open-air theater for family-friendly films. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, settle in on the grass, and watch a feature beneath the night sky.

Enjoy an afternoon of sweet treats and family-friendly activities with The Nest Schools at an ice cream social. Families can stop by for an ice cream bar, explore the classrooms and learning areas, and talk with teachers and school leadership. Children can jump into games and activities while caregivers learn about the programs, curriculum, and plans for the upcoming school year. It is a relaxed way to see the space, meet the team, and discover what sets the school apart.

An open gym session at Gym Skills Cleveland gives kids a place to stay active, practice gymnastics skills, explore the equipment, and spend time with friends. Participants must be walking age or older. Children ages 2 to 5 require a parent to supervise, and those 6 and up can be dropped off. The cost is $15 for the first child and $12 for each additional sibling. Advance registration is required, and the session will not take place if no one is registered ahead of time.

Personalized luminary bags honor people whose lives have been touched by cancer, including survivors, those in treatment, caregivers, and loved ones remembered, forming a quiet display of hope and remembrance. Attendees can donate and decorate a bag in person, dedicate one online if attending is not possible, or simply walk through and reflect. A $10 contribution lights another bag and supports ACS CAN efforts to increase research funding, expand access to care, and enhance quality of life for patients and families. The fifth annual celebration of big band music brings nine straight hours of live jazz and swing, with a different band kicking off at the top of each hour. Drop in for one set or make a day of it, since there is always fresh music on stage. The festivities also highlight the debut of a brand-new three-season enclosed Grand Pavilion, a community gathering space more than a year in the making. The pavilion offers indoor seating for 120, which means the music continues rain or shine. Guests are welcome to relax in the pavilion or spread out in the park with their own lawn chairs. Food trucks will be on site throughout the day to keep the good times rolling with plenty of choices. It is a toast to five years of music, food, and community, and a warm introduction to a new venue designed for three-season use.

Little Diggers offers a weekly playtime designed for reduced stimulation. Expect softer lighting, quieter music, and a calm atmosphere that minimizes sensory input from start to finish. The environment stays consistent each week with the same setup, and the usual construction-themed, hands-on activities are available at a gentler pace. This session is intended for children with sensory processing differences, autism, ADHD, or anxiety, as well as any child who benefits from a quieter setting. Families referred by pediatric occupational therapists, speech-language therapists, or special education professionals are included. Siblings and caregivers can share in a more relaxed visit for everyone.

The playspace welcomes big brothers and sisters to jump into the fun, building, digging, and exploring alongside their younger sibling. There is no need to watch from the sidelines. Any age older child may participate as long as they are with a sibling who is 7 or younger. Admission for the older child is handled the same as for ages 7 and under. This opportunity is available every third Wednesday from open to close, and no special reservation is required. Participation requires that the older child be accompanied by a sibling age 7 or under. Shared play helps grow confidence, problem solving, and resilience for every age. It keeps families together and gives big kids the chance to be role models, spark creativity, and strengthen their building skills.
