đ° In the news
Reimagining children’s health access: Dayton Childrenâs plans to expand pediatric care for families in Urbana and Springfield with a new acquisition this spring, and staff will join the hospital to make care convenient — get all the details.
Blueprinting the next chapter: OnMain released updated master plan and design guidelines, moving the Dayton project from vision to action and promising clearer expectations for developers and neighbors as the district takes shape — see what’s in the documents.
Where the money goes: Residence Park is getting upgrades through Daytonâs Your Neighborhoods, Your Dollars program, with Issue 6 and federal grants helping fund work, and a $2 million commitment for park improvements through 2032 — see the funding breakdown.
Guidance for young hunters: Applications are open for the Light Foundationâs 17th Youth Wild Turkey Hunt in Greenville, April 17 to 19. Open to ages 12 to 17 with a 500 word themed essay — see eligibility and requirements.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off goldâs best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why precious metals are back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains whatâs happening and how people are approaching it today. Itâs free â and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Nothing prepares you for a pet emergency: I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache. As soon as we got home, I signed up for Spot. Itâs super affordable â and reimburses up to 90% of the bill.

𫶠We got your back
Spotlighting Ohio suffrage voices: Dayton Live will host a free screening of Let Ohio Women Vote on Sunday, March 8 at Victoria Theatre for International Womenâs Day. A panel with producer Rachel Sussman, director Ann Rotolante, and a retired Ohio chief justice will follow. The event also includes the Ohio Women Vote exhibit. Get all the details.
Built for modern operations: Montgomery County unveiled plans on February 12 for a new Job Center to better serve residents in Dayton and nearby communities. The county is reviewing sites now. Starting later this spring, some programs will move to temporary locations to keep services running. Construction details will be announced soon. See which programs are involved.
Daytonâs sweet standby: Since 1926, Esther Price Candies has turned out Daytonâs favorite treats: buttery caramels, silky creams, and chocolate-covered cherries, all made at the local factory. A little gold-box joy, ideal for stashing a few pieces for those âfuture youâ emergencies.
Find a statement piece: Whether youâre eyeing a mid-century dresser, a mirror that doubles as free lighting, or original art that doesnât scream dorm room, The Designers Consignment curates preloved furniture, dĂ©cor, and collectibles from across Dayton, helping your space feel considered, layered, and lived-in… the kind of intentional that looks effortless.
What do people see when they search your name? Search results can surface past mistakes or outdated information that no longer reflects who you are. BetterReputation helps remove and clean up unwanted content so your online presence matches your real life today. Not worried about yourself? Doesnât hurt to mention it to family or friends who might be.
Take control of your credit card debt: High interest can keep you stuck paying more than you need to. A balance transfer card with 0% intro APR until 2027 and no annual fee gives you time to pay down what you owe without interest working against you. By transferring your balance, more of your payment goes toward the principal so you can actually make a dent in what you owe.
