A free, bike-focused festival at Kauffman Park celebrates young riders with bikes 24 inches and smaller. Families can explore kid and tot riding courses, enjoy a skills challenge loop on the main fitness path, and ride to a soundtrack of kid-friendly DJ music. Bikes can be personalized with spoke beads, playing cards, colorful tape, crepe paper, and more, and children can pick out temporary tattoos. Community resources and bike information stations will be available, with Bike Lakewood, Beat Cycles, Lakewood Recreation, the Lakewood Police, and others sharing helpful guidance for families with young cyclists. Little ones have dedicated spaces to play, including a tot lot with borrowable ride-ons for a shaded loop around the playground. Water play is offered at the mini river basin, nature play features are open at the nature-based playground, and sidewalks become canvases with chalk art. Complimentary snacks and reusable water bottles are offered while supplies last. The event is presented by Kauffman Park Friends in partnership with Bike Lakewood, with support from the Healthy Lakewood Foundation.

Marking five years of music, community, and summer fun, this big band celebration keeps the stage active with a fresh ensemble at the top of each hour. Attendees can stop by briefly, settle in for the entire program, or come and go, and they will always find live music underway. This year also features the debut of Brooklyn’s new three-season enclosed Grand Pavilion, revealed after more than a year of construction. With indoor seating for 120, the event continues in any weather. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the park atmosphere, or take advantage of the pavilion seating while listening. Expect nine hours of big band and jazz along with food trucks available throughout the day. It is a full day focused on great music, great food, and community.
