The story follows an infant who ends up on the West African coast and is adopted by a family of gorillas who name him Tarzan. The route is rated Mobility Level 1, which means up to six blocks on mostly flat, paved surfaces, stairs are unlikely, and it is wheelchair accessible. Part of the Summer Tour Series launched in 2004 by historian Kevin Rose to highlight Springfield’s built environment, the series has grown to include many guided tours across the Greater Springfield region and is managed by a committee of community volunteers.

That bold choice helped make South Fountain Avenue one of the city’s most fashionable places to live. The walk is led by Kevin Rose, former national president of the Victorian Society. It is part of the Summer Tour Series he launched in 2004 to highlight Springfield’s architectural heritage, which has grown from eight neighborhood walks to well over a dozen guided tours across the Greater Springfield region under the guidance of a volunteer committee. She has teamed with Susan Harris to present programs in Centered Riding, Centered Driving, Anatomy in Motion, safety, instructor development, and horsemanship across North America, Australia, Europe, Iceland, Egypt, and the United Kingdom. She holds American Riding Instructor Association credentials as an Instructor Educator and as an Expert Instructor in multiple disciplines, and she serves on ARIA’s testing staff. With her horse Ulie, she competed in western, hunt seat, jumping, dressage, and driving, and was long-listed with the USET for three years in Advanced Combined Driving. Her writing has appeared in publications including The Whip and The Chronicle of the Horse, and in 2005 she received ARIA’s Riding Instructor of the Year award.

The tour meets outside Mother Stewart’s Brewery and wraps up with a visit inside the brewery, located in a restored section of the old casket factory, with one drink included in the $20 ticket. Rated Mobility Level 2, the route may extend beyond six blocks with some hills, mostly paved surfaces, and occasional stairs. Formed in 2010, the Baltimore-rooted quartet builds long-form pieces that emphasize repetition, complexity, and evolving rhythmic interplay. Guitarist Owen Gardner and saxophonist and percussionist Andrew Bernstein first connected at Goucher College, then, through the city’s scene and the group Teeth Mountain, linked up with bassist Max Eilbacher and drummer Sam Haberman. Their varied backgrounds span global folk traditions and electroacoustic work, and together they craft music that is both methodical and exploratory. They have also interpreted compositions by Julius Eastman. A guiding thread of their approach is the question of how wordless music can carry political meaning, shaping decisions that integrate aesthetic intent with social and material concerns.

This charity ride returns in a two day format, beginning at Young's and traveling to Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Cyclists can choose from several route lengths to match their goals. Two day riders can select approximately 51, 81, or 100 miles per day, and there is also a one day option with routes of about 26 or 39 miles. Participants of all ages and experience levels ride in support of the Alzheimer's Association, T1D Breakthrough, South Community Behavioral Health, and United Rehabilitation Services. Food and ice cream are included for riders and volunteers. The cost includes a $75 registration fee and a required $225 charitable contribution, for a total commitment of $300. Donations may be covered personally or raised with help from friends, neighbors, coworkers, or employers, and outstanding individual fundraisers receive recognition.

Runners can take on 5K, 10K, or 1 Mile routes that start and finish at Splash Zone Aquatic Center, following an out-and-back course to the north on the paved Simon Kenton Trail. After crossing the finish line, participants receive access to a private celebration inside Splash Zone with food, drinks, snacks, treats, music, and prizes. Between the slides and pools, there is plenty to enjoy at the waterpark. Glide through 400 feet of water slides, drift along the 280-foot lazy river, and whirl around a water vortex celebrated as Ohio’s first bowl slide. The facility features beach-style zero depth entry, a spray ground, a 25-yard competition pool, and two one-meter diving boards. It is ADA accessible with zero-depth entry and a lift. Please note the policies for this event. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is 18 or older with valid age identification, and they must remain inside the waterpark at all times.
