Woman in Gold Screening
In connection with the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art exhibition Our History is Your History, featuring works by Jewish artists from the museum’s permanent collection, this program offers two screenings of Woman in Gold (2015). The biographical drama follows Maria Altmann’s effort to reclaim artwork taken from her family by the Nazis during World War II, highlighting themes of justice, cultural heritage, and the preservation of artistic legacy. The film experience complements the exhibition’s focus on history, identity, and resilience. A suggested $5 donation supports SAMA programs, and popcorn and drinks will be available. Support for the exhibition is provided by the Greater Altoona Jewish Federation and a grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
