Eric Ian Farmer, Gary Abdullah & Stephen Mariner

An evening inspired by Juneteenth brings together music, remembrance, and reflection with State College native Eric Ian Farmer alongside bassist Gary Abdullah and pianist Stephen Mariner. Farmer leads with a resonant baritone, sharing original songs and heartfelt reinterpretations of classic material, all grounded in themes of memory, identity, and connection. His sound is rooted in gospel, soul, folk, and the church music of his childhood, with influences that include Marvin Gaye and the singers who shaped his early years. He is joined by Gary Abdullah, a veteran bassist known for work with Penn State’s United Soul Ensemble and Urban Fusion, and Stephen Mariner, a pianist and music director whose artistry is steeped in gospel traditions. Both musicians have deep ties to Penn State and the State College scene, drawing on experience across gospel, jazz, and blues to add depth to the program. Together they honor Juneteenth through song, storytelling, and shared history. Dinner and bar service are available throughout the evening.

Secret Planet and more

Thee Marloes are a soul trio from Surabaya, Indonesia, offering a fresh global lens on classic sounds. Silky guitar tones, drums with a deep groove, and vocals that tell stories of love and longing are shaped by a place where soul is rarely heard. The lineup features vocalist and keyboardist Natassya Sianturi with guitarist Sinatrya “Raka” Dharaka and drummer Tommy Satwick. Influences span classic soul, American hip hop, rocksteady, and lovers rock reggae, refined through late-night writing sessions and gigs across Southeast Asia. The group took shape after Raka and Tommy heard Natassya at a local show, her church-trained voice and wide musical background bringing striking emotional depth. Working from a home studio, they cultivated a raw, unvarnished sound that drew the attention of Big Crown Records. Their debut album, Perak, melds funk-forward grooves, tender ballads, and Indonesian lyrics into music that feels both timeless and new, channeling a vintage spirit with a distinctly Indonesian heartbeat.

Béla Fleck, Edmar Castañeda, Antonio Sánchez Trio

An uncommon lineup of banjo, harp, and drums takes center stage as banjoist Béla Fleck, harpist Edmar Castañeda, and drummer Antonio Sánchez join forces in a new trio. Fleck, a winner of 19 Grammys, has pushed the banjo far beyond its bluegrass roots through boundary-crossing projects that include the Flecktones, a duo with Chick Corea, and a fresh take on Rhapsody in Blue. Castañeda, a Bogotá-born harp innovator, leads his own groups and has collaborated with Hiromi, Paquito D’Rivera, and Grégoire Maret. Sánchez, a five-time Grammy recipient from Mexico City, is renowned for his work with Pat Metheny, for leading progressive projects like Bad Hombre, for collaborations with Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Charlie Haden, and Michael Brecker, and for composing the drum-set score to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s film Birdman, which received a Golden Globe nomination. The trio presents original music, much of it co-written, and dives into bold improvisational journeys that balance singable melodies, glowing harmonies, and grooves that twist and turn while feeling deeply satisfying.

Celebrate the season with a hands-on, in-person card making series designed to spark creativity and help crafters get ahead on holiday greetings. Each monthly class features a new set of designs and guides participants through making 12 handmade cards, created as three of each of four styles. Envelopes are included, and participants should bring their preferred adhesive. The format is open house so attendees can work at their own pace, and setting aside at least two to three hours is recommended to finish all projects. Across five monthly sessions, makers will complete 60 cards that are ready to mail or give as gifts. Those who commit to the full series and pay in advance by the organizer’s stated deadline receive a complimentary bonus to-go class later in the year, raising the total to 72 cards. Now in its second year, this friendly gathering focuses on crafting together and sharing holiday cheer.

The Travelin' McCourys

The Travelin’ McCourys deliver bluegrass that is both rooted and adventurous, drawing notice from outlets like Inlander and Rolling Stone for stretching the music rather than staying in a single lane. Their path resembles a river that holds fast to its source while carving new channels, carrying tradition forward with fresh momentum. Mandolinist Ronnie McCoury and banjo player Rob McCoury came up in the Del McCoury Band, sharpening their skills on the road and reimagining how classic sounds can speak to today. Ronnie often shares that with focus and craft, almost any idea can be translated to bluegrass instruments, and that the excitement comes from finding new textures that surprise listeners. The lineup features Christian Ward on fiddle, Alan Bartram on bass, and Cody Kilby on guitar, and each player has been recognized by the International Bluegrass Music Association for excellence on their instrument at least once. The band has built bridges across scenes, appearing at the Allman Brothers’ Wanee Festival and Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam, teaming with Keller Williams on the album Pick, trading jams with Phish and The String Cheese Incident, and collaborating with Dierks Bentley. An early collaboration with the Lee Boys that blended sacred steel, R&B, and bluegrass became a viral moment and welcomed many younger fans. They also created the Grateful Ball, a tribute that links their picking to the music of the Grateful Dead. Onstage they sometimes plug in and turn up, defining their own voice rather than echoing their father’s storied band. Their performances have earned a growing following for an eclectic repertoire, and at DelFest in 2016 they delivered a set widely hailed as the festival’s standout for uniting rock and bluegrass across generations. Expect nimble picking, inventive arrangements, and a journey that honors where the music comes from while pointing to where it can go next.

Two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro stars alongside Academy Award nominee Harvey Keitel, with Amy Robinson in an early role before later producing films such as After Hours and Running on Empty. Roger Ebert characterized it as less a conventional gangster film and more a sympathetic, ultimately tragic look at growing up in that environment. The Lone Bellow

An evening with The Lone Bellow features a pre-show VIP package that includes a reserved seat, early entry to the venue, and early access to merchandise before the general public. VIP guests can take part in a meet and greet with the band with a photo opportunity and enjoy a special trio performance ahead of the show, plus take home a limited-edition poster along with a commemorative VIP laminate and lanyard. The band arrives with their sixth studio album, What A Time To Be Alive, marking a bold step forward while staying true to the relationships that have guided them. For the first time the songs were written with the full touring lineup, uniting founding members Zach Williams, Brian Elmquist, and Kanene Pipkin with drummer Julian Dorio and multi-instrumentalist Tyler Geertsma. Recorded live in Muscle Shoals after a writing retreat in a converted Kentucky firehouse, the album moves between celebration and reckoning, exploring friendship, loss, love, and resilience through rich harmonies and a blend of folk, rock, and gospel. From the gritty spark of After The Rain to the closing lift of What A Time To Be Alive, the new songs carry joy and vulnerability in equal measure. That shared spirit runs through anthems like Common Folk and I'm Here For You as well as intimate reflections such as You Were Leaving and Night Goes Black. Even the setback of stolen early recordings was met by strong fan support that reinforced the bond between the band and its audience. Since their 2013 debut, The Lone Bellow has appeared on The Tonight Show, Austin City Limits, and The Late Show, topped Americana charts, and headlined stages such as Carnegie Hall and the Ryman Auditorium. Their commitment to connection on stage and in song continues to shape every performance.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!

Marking three decades of laughs, this celebration spotlights The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, a riotous comedy from the filmmaker behind Airplane!. Leslie Nielsen portrays the ever-determined Frank Drebin, whose well-intended blundering leads straight into a mind control conspiracy aimed at the Queen of England. The cast includes Priscilla Presley, Ricardo Montalban, George Kennedy, and O. J. Simpson, and the madness extends to a stuffed beaver, a pair of baseball teams, and a cameo by Weird Al Yankovic as himself. A Florida Times-Union review praised its brisk tempo and near-constant laughter, capturing the anything-can-happen spirit that keeps the jokes flying.

Tim Easton | The Attic

Tim Easton appears at The Attic, bringing the seasoned perspective of a traveler and one-time European busker, as well as a songwriter who helped shape Americana in the late 1990s. His writing moves easily between country-blues, folk, pop, and classic rock, refined since his 1997 solo debut and informed by time supporting artists such as Willie Nelson and Townes Van Zandt. His latest release, fIREHORSE, took shape under the gaze of a vivid red horse painting by his sister, visual artist Susan Easton Burns, created with gardening tools. Recorded largely in Nashville with producer and arranger Kevin Nolan and the rhythm team from Lainey Wilson's band, the album gathers ten original songs made without artificial intelligence and connected by a theme of perseverance. The stories draw on wide travels, family moments, a close call on an Alaskan river, and life on the road, with scenes that reach from agnostic prayer to desert horizons along Highway 62. The music spans Americana, country-blues, folk, pop, and classic rock, anchored by a clear storyteller’s voice.
