A Dungeons & Dragons session offers dice rolling, imaginative roleplay, and shared storytelling. Newcomers are welcome. Open to all ages, though themes may be closer to a PG-13 level. Participants 16 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.

Myofascial and CST for Fussy and/or Tongue Tied Babies

Designed for families with fussy or tongue-tied babies who may be experiencing tension, reflux, gassiness, or arching, this class centers on myofascial techniques and CST to support comfort at home. Attendees learn gentle myofascial release exercises they can use between appointments. Instruction is provided by an IBCLC together with physical therapist Sheri Brimm, and both specialize in working with infants facing these concerns. Most classes have insurance coverage available, with discounted cash rates for those without coverage, and insurance benefits can be checked during registration. Please bring a blanket for your baby.

Country Dance Basics

Explore the basics of country dance in a welcoming group setting tailored for newcomers and anyone looking to refresh their steps. Learn popular styles including Cowboy Cha Cha, Schottische, Country Two-Step, and Country Swing, with easy-to-follow guidance that keeps the focus on fun. Beginners are welcome and you can participate without a partner. Drop in for $15 per person or choose the complete four-class option for $50 per person. Bring your energy and get ready to move.

Spanish Class: Ages 15+

Learn basic Spanish phrases and pronunciation with Nicolle Vargas as she shares her native language. Expect simple phrases and guidance on how to say them correctly. This class is for ages 15 and up.

Storytime & Spanish

A lively storytime for children ages 2 to 8 blends bilingual books, simple Spanish vocabulary, and playful activities. The session introduces another language in an engaging way, supporting communication skills and fostering multicultural awareness. Developed for this age range, the program offers an interactive setting to explore stories and words together.

Outdoor Junction- Tennessee Gun Law 4/23/26

This workshop offers legal clarity for gun owners, providing confidence in carrying and self-defense. Through cases and courtroom insights, attendees will understand the impact of Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine laws. Topics include when you can legally defend yourself, what went right and wrong in landmark self-defense cases, the legal and financial aftermath of self-defense, firearm restrictions, and how to interact with law enforcement after an incident. This is for concealed carriers, new gun owners, self-defense advocates, homeowners, trainers, parents, and responsible citizens. Seats are limited.

Bomb Shelter Comedy Open Mic

Thursday nights feature a two-part event. The night begins with music bingo, followed by the Bomb Shelter Open Mic. Anyone can sign up to perform for five minutes and share their material. Attendees can test out new jokes or watch others take the stage.

Compassion First Community Outreach

The Annual Compassion First Community Outreach Event returns to offer free help for community members in need. Individuals who are hungry, in need of clothing, or seeking support can access meals, case management, housing assistance, and other services at no cost. The schedule is planned to improve access to transportation through community partners. Local organizations, churches, and service providers can participate by setting up a booth to share resources for people experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or facing food insecurity. Vendor participation is free. The focus is on coming together in care, emphasizing love, support, and prayer put into action.

Fourth Fridays: Teen Maker Night

A creative maker night built for teens ages 13 to 17 invites hands-on exploration in a supervised, welcoming setting. Participants can choose to work independently or with friends and decide how they want to spend their time. Rather than a single class or required project, this open, skill-focused format offers access to real tools, studios, and spaces that encourage trying new things. Teens can remix clothing with patches or new stitching, record and mix music in a dedicated studio, dive into coding, game design, or 3D printing, cook or bake simple meals and snacks in the kitchen, paint or draw, and tinker or craft in the makerspace. There is also room to collaborate with peers or simply spend time in a creative environment. Staff provide guidance while encouraging choice, curiosity, and an individual pace. Some participants may immerse themselves in one project, while others explore several options, and both paths are supported. For parents, the experience is supervised and structured, focused on building skills and creativity rather than just social time, with food available during the event.

Practice figure and still life drawing in a relaxed, drop-in session at Cookeville Art Studio and Gallery. Work from clothed models or arranged objects, and use any medium that suits your style. The cost is $20, with a pay-what-you-can option.

The aim is a laid back vibe, so excessive revving, burnouts, and donuts are not allowed. All are welcome. Attendees should clean up after themselves and avoid leaving trash so the spot can continue to be available.

Tolkien Trivia - Independent Bookstore Day

Fans of The Lord of the Rings and J. R. R. Tolkien can test their knowledge at a themed trivia night at Plenty, held as part of Independent Bookstore Day festivities. The top prize features the first two sets of The History of Middle Earth, valued at $250, along with bragging rights. Admission is free. Participants may compete solo or team up with one partner. RSVPs are optional, though they help with planning and make it easier to share any updates.

🪨 Honey Creek Loop: The Indiana Jones Jungle Gym Adventure

Tackle a rugged, adventure-filled hike on the Honey Creek Loop in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. The route features caves, rock houses, cliffs, giant boulders, creek crossings and ladders, along with stretches of enjoyable rock scrambling that can feel like a jungle gym straight out of an adventure movie. The loop is approximately 4.5 miles, with an optional extra half mile to a waterfall, gains about 830 feet of elevation, and is rated moderate to hard. It is not suited for beginners and is best for hikers comfortable with uneven terrain, water crossings and short climbs. Expect the outing to take around five hours for reasonably skilled hikers, since the terrain invites exploring. Bring plenty of water, snacks or lunch, sturdy hiking boots with good grip, footwear you do not mind getting wet and extra socks. Layers for changing weather, trekking poles if you use them, a headlamp or flashlight, and a phone with an offline map are also recommended. Cell service can be spotty, and the loop is known for striking scenery, distinctive rock formations and hidden corners that are great for photos.

Nani Agbeli w/ TTU Ghanaian Drum Ensemble

As a Center Stage guest artist, Nani Agbeli, an acclaimed Ghanaian drummer and dancer, collaborates with the TTU West African Drumming Ensemble in a program of traditional Ewe drumming and dance. Performances highlight dynamic power, precise rhythm, and athletic flair, showcasing Agbeli’s artistry. He draws on a family legacy from Ghana’s Volta region celebrated for mastery in drumming and dance and for contributions to the wider traditions of arts, culture, and history. The event takes place in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts Building at Tennessee Tech University. There is no charge to attend and the program is open to the public.

04/25 Cookeville Community Build

At CrossFit Mayhem, this community build focuses on making beds for children in the local area who do not have a bed of their own. Work is organized into stations such as using a chop saw, measuring, moving lumber, sanding, drilling, assembling rails and headboards, applying stain, branding and stacking. No tools or prior skills are required, and families are welcome to take part. Drinks and snacks are provided. The atmosphere is lively and full of activity. Organizers request that volunteers register in advance.

Made Here Market

Made Here Market returns with a full day dedicated to shopping local and spotlighting creators from the Upper Cumberland. This 7th annual marketplace brings together artisans who handcraft their work, offering handmade goods, crafts, and unique gifts, with local food trucks and music performances adding to the experience. Set in downtown Cookeville, guests can browse along the street, meet the makers behind the products, and uncover items not found at big box retailers. Vendor applications are available for Upper Cumberland makers interested in taking part.

Bryan Symphony Orchestra Concert

At Wattenbarger Auditorium at Tennessee Tech, the Bryan Symphony Orchestra performs a program led by Dan Allcott. Clarinetist Doreen Ketchens is featured, presented by Centerstage.

Dinner with the Symphony (SOLD OUT!!!)

A small, elegant dinner gathering with guest artist Doreen Ketchens, members of the Symphony Board, and supporters of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. Guests can expect a four-course menu served in a relaxed setting, with time to mingle, brief announcements, and then dinner. Tai Chi Sessions - 4 weeks

Instruction is led by Teddy Spivey, who has trained in martial arts since 2006, holds a 3rd-degree black belt in Taekwondo and a 1st-degree black belt in Mu-Gen Karate-Do, and brings extensive Chen Tai Chi training along with years of teaching experience under multiple instructors.

American Heart certified, in person BLS/ACLS/PALS Course

In-person, hands-on training is available for renewals in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, taught by instructors certified by American Heart. Participants may attend only the course they need and are free to leave once their portion is complete. ACLS and PALS require completion of online precourse work; please print your confirmation and bring it to class. BLS has no precourse requirement. CEUs are available for the online precourse. Course packets will be provided, and bringing a notebook can be helpful. For longer combo enrollments, snacks and drinks are allowed if kept discreet and cleaned up afterward. Pricing is $50 for BLS and $100 each for ACLS and PALS. Discounted combos are offered at $135 for BLS with ACLS, $135 for BLS with PALS, $180 for ACLS with PALS, and $225 for all three. Build confidence in lifesaving skills during an in-person, hands-on CPR and first aid course taught by instructors with American Heart certification. The session is organized in two parts, with CPR covered first and first aid following. Participants may attend only the portion they need or complete both segments together. CPR is $50, first aid is $50, or take both for $80. No precourse work is required. A course packet will be provided upon arrival, and you are welcome to bring a notebook. Art Round Tennessee’s first First Friday of the year brings art, music, and local shopping to Cookeville’s Spring St. Arts District. Guests can stroll Spring Street to explore unique shops, meet local artists, and view and purchase original works at Vertical Coffee Company, Picasso’s Gift Shop, and Wonderfill Refillery. Live music by Matt Beale sets the tone. This event is open to the public with a suggested $5 donation to support local art initiatives. First Fridays are for all ages and will occur monthly. First Friday features Imagine Foundry’s Family Date Night, a shared experience where children and their caregivers cook, eat, create, and learn side by side. Participants jump into practical food activities that build real world skills such as measuring, planning, kitchen safety, and teamwork. This is a hands on, collaborative class rather than a demonstration or a drop off program, with adults and kids learning by doing and through conversation. Plans are adaptable for a wide range of ages. Expect opportunities to prepare or bake something together, enjoy a healthy meal, and spend creative time imagining, designing, making, and playing. This event is designed for caregiver and child pairs with kid friendly activities. Please note any allergies when registering. Space is limited.

AARF May Adoption Event

An AARF adoption event at the Cookeville Petco features adoptable dogs and cats, including kittens and puppies, all hoping to find new families. Attendees can meet a variety of pets and check which animals are expected to participate as profiles are updated ahead of time. Completing an adoption application in advance may allow eligible adopters to take a new companion home the same day. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

Kentucky Derby

Watch the Kentucky Derby, then enjoy live music from Back Roads Band. The Tasty Trailer will be on site. Admission is $10, and outside alcohol is not allowed.

Spaghetti Dinner and Cake Walk

Enjoy a community evening featuring a spaghetti dinner, a live auction, and a cake walk, all benefiting Ty’s Memorial Fund. Proceeds help a graduating senior and support kids in the community, continuing Ty’s legacy of kindness and giving back. The gathering takes place in the cafeteria at Dodson Branch School. To-go boxes are available. Those unable to attend can donate to Ty’s Memorial Fund through Venmo or directly at First Freedom Bank. Cake donations for the walk are welcome.

Miss Royal Elegance 2026!

Now in its sixth year, Miss Royal Elegance brings crowns, sashes, awards, and a memorable experience for contestants to the Cookeville Community Center. New this year, the Inspire Division welcomes girls and women with special needs. Space is limited.

Sports Card & Collectibles Show

Cookeville hosts a large card and collectibles show featuring 160 tables filled with sports cards, Pokemon, memorabilia, toys, comics, and more. Giveaways valued at over $300 include items such as signed jerseys, footballs, blaster boxes, gift cards, graded cards, and other surprises. Collectors from the Upper Cumberland and nearby areas will be on hand, offering many chances to discover new finds and grow a collection.

Moody’s Flea Market

Discover a community flea market hosted by Moody’s Thrift Store, where you can browse antiques, vintage finds, handmade creations from local makers and crafters, baked goods, and other food options. Shop to support local vendors, then stop into the thrift store for special deals and prize opportunities. Public parking is used for this event, and visitors will need to walk from those spaces to the market. Bringing reusable bags or a wagon can make it easier to carry purchases. A rain date is planned. For vendor matters, communicate only with Moody’s Thrift Store or Brielle Gerardi, and ignore unsolicited messages or payment requests from anyone else.

4th Annual Blooming Minis

This fourth annual immersive floral photo experience with Abby Weeden features a new set inspired by the swirling colors of Jupiter. Built with living flowers and sculptural elements, including an eight-foot fabric sculpture, it is designed to evoke the scale and movement of space and to provide a distinctive backdrop for photographs. Mini sessions suit families, children, couples planning engagement or bridal portraits, business branding, and modeling. Each booking includes a 15-minute sitting and a completed gallery of 20 images for $200, with a style guide sent after booking. Availability is limited to a two-day window because the florals are alive, and location details are shared with confirmed clients.

Free Comic Book Day brings a big day for collectors and casual readers alike. Browse more than 70 different comic books from a wide range of publishers, all available at no cost. 2026 Storyfest

Cookeville Storyfest returns as a free community celebration of storytelling, now set at the performance pavilion in Dogwood Park. Settle into provided seating on stage or bring your own chair and choose a comfortable spot. The program spans tall tales, heartfelt history, and comedy, with performances from Matt Hix, Joyce Tatum, Lee Bailey, Jennie Ivey, Sanda Ayers, Dwight Henry, and featured guest Andy Offutt Irwin, who will appear twice. An Amateur Storytelling Competition invites community members to take the mic and share their best stories. Between sets, browse local artists and vendors for handcrafted goods and tasty treats. This day of creativity and connection is supported by the Cookeville Arts Council and the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Copper Flower Earring with Brie Flora at Edison Hills

Led by Brie Flora, this in person jewelry workshop at Edison Hills centers on making copper flower earrings. Participants learn how to texture copper to create unique surfaces and how to form their own sterling silver ear wires. The format is beginner friendly, with step by step guidance for those starting out as well as anyone looking to expand their skills. Participants can create one or two pairs of earrings and leave with finished pieces plus the confidence to keep creating at home. All tools and materials are provided, and the recommended minimum age is 14.

Chips for Charity

An annual fundraising event at the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport offers a fun, casino themed night that brings neighbors together while raising support for children and families in foster care. Proceeds benefit the Upper Cumberland Foster Closet, helping provide clothing, beds, school supplies, and other essentials so children in care have the dignity, stability, and support they need.

Little Miss Tennessee 2026

A Tennessee-only pageant will take place at the Cookeville Community Center, inviting participants from infancy through age 21 to compete within clearly defined divisions: Infant Miss (0 to 11 months), Baby Miss (12 to 23 months), Toddler Miss (2 to 3 years), Tiny Miss (4 to 5 years), Mini Miss (6 to 7 years), Little Miss (8 to 9 years), Preteen Miss (10 to 12 years), Teen Miss (13 to 15 years), and Miss (16 to 21 years). All ages will take the stage for the beauty competition in standard pageant attire. Contestants in the Miss division will also meet a panel for an interview the morning of the competition, with interview wear left to each participant’s style, including options like business-style cocktail looks, suits, or jumpsuits. Each division queen will be honored with a custom state crown, a custom sash, a plaque, a cash scholarship, flowers, and gifts throughout the year, and the Miss division winner will receive at least $500. An online People’s Choice competition will feature all contestants, awarding a trophy to one winner in every division. Two overall People’s Choice titles will also be named, one for ages 0 to 5 and one for ages 6 and up, and those overall winners will receive official state titles with a custom crown, sash, plaque, flowers, a cash scholarship, and gifts throughout the year. Every contestant will be recognized on stage and will receive an award, regardless of placement. The complete schedule will be announced on the Facebook event page after final entries are set. Check-in will be available in the evening in Cookeville, and there will also be a morning check-in on the day of the competition. Crowning will occur after every other division, and only queens, including the Ambassador and the Overall People’s Choice winners, will be required to remain. Cash awards will be distributed after the group photo of the queens is taken on stage at the end. A program book featuring contestants will be available for those who wish to purchase it, though it is not required. Contestants may sell ad pages, and the top seller will receive the Ambassador Queen state title along with the listed awards, including a cash scholarship.

Myofascial and CST for Fussy and/or Tongue Tied Babies

Parents and caregivers of fussy babies experiencing tension, reflux, gassiness, lip or tongue ties, or arching can learn gentle myofascial release techniques to help bring comfort at home. The class is led by an IBCLC together with physical therapist Sheri Brimm, both specializing in infant care for these concerns. Most classes are covered by insurance, with discounted cash rates available for those without coverage. Please bring a blanket for your baby.

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED

This course is tailored for individuals outside the medical field, such as daycare providers, private caregivers, or anyone whose job requires this training. The course fee is $70, which covers a book, and upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification from the American Heart Association valid for two years. Class sizes are limited to 9 students, with the possibility of adding more depending on instructor availability and demand. The training will take place at the CRMC Foundation training room. There is a no-cancellation policy for tickets, so please register only if you plan to attend.

Beaded Embroidery with Abby Weeden at Edison Hills

Learn beginner-friendly beaded embroidery with Abby Weeden in a hands-on class that walks participants through making a felt ornament with a radial pattern. June Day Camps

Curiosity drives every activity at Imagine Foundry, where campers explore how the world works in repeating cycles. Through hands-on science, they see that water changes rather than vanishing, plants take time to grow, and ideas get better through prototyping, testing, and refining. Each day blends invention, building, play, and problem solving with tangible materials, creative thinking, and shared discovery. Some sessions are delightfully messy, others more reflective, and all invite kids to wonder and figure things out together. Weekly themes keep the experience fresh. One focuses on inventing and iterating on new concepts. Another challenges campers to build big and notice how structures evolve. A third centers on designing games and improving them through play. Another invites them to tackle real-world problems and think through solutions. Fridays set aside time to finish projects and look back on the week. Campers revisit favorite builds, add final touches, share what they discovered, and talk about what worked, creating a calm wrap-up before the next set of adventures. Participants ages 4 to 12 are welcome, and those 13 and older can inquire about volunteer opportunities. Enrollment is available by the day or for a full week, and when choosing a weeklong option, select Monday as the starting point.
