A new 2026 kayak tour offers a 90 minute paddle on the clear, green waters of Lake Kokanee, also known as Lower Lake Cushman. Paddlers travel across calm water bordered by towering old growth evergreens while learning about the lake’s history, the lichen and mushrooms along its shores, and the osprey that thrive here. The route builds to a visit at the base of a tumbling waterfall. A guide brings the group close enough to feel the cool mist, take in the distinctive sounds, and capture photos or video, and can also snap pictures for participants. This outing suits those who prefer lake kayaking, first-time paddlers, families with young children, and anyone short on time who still wants time on the water in the Hood Canal area. After the paddle, Hoodsport is a short drive down the mountain with places to eat.

A helmet, a fire suit, and a seatbelt are required, vehicles must have a full firewall and a battery disconnect switch, and turbo cars must have X bolts installed in the exhaust. Hubcaps, aluminum wheels, and wheel weights are not allowed. Judging follows a point system that awards 10 points for instant smoke, 30 points for tip-in hype, 20 points for constant smoke, 30 points for driver skill, and 10 points for crowd hype. Penalties include a 5 point deduction for each tire that does not blow and a 10 point deduction for a wall hit that changes the car’s direction, while light wall taps are acceptable. A fire that stops the run results in disqualification, tire fires reduce the smoke score, and reversing before the tires blow also results in disqualification. Reversing after the tires are blown is permitted. Additional details will be shared soon.

True Street offers a $20,000 purse with a 20 car minimum, runs off the trailer, and requires a $300 buy-in plus a $40 tech fee. Cars must be street legal with VIN, registration, and plates, and they must run on DOT-stamped radials. No wheelie bars are allowed. Tire rules include 275 radials or 28x10 non-W options, and 17 inch or larger wheels may use any size radial. Factory-style front suspension in the stock shock location is required, as are the factory dash and front glass. All factory body panels and doors must remain, with aftermarket hoods, trunk lids, and bumpers permitted. Functional roll-up windows are required. Cooling and charging systems must work. No tube chassis is allowed, although bolt-in or weld-in K-members are acceptable, as are shock relocation kits, aftermarket shocks and springs, ladder bars, and mini tubs. No added weight may extend past the rear bumper or body, and cars cannot be pushed to the lanes. Only factory-style wings are permitted, with carbon replacements allowed, and low-profile race wings are acceptable. A fire jacket and helmet are mandatory, shorts are not permitted, and an engine diaper or belly pan is preferred. Daily Driver pays $15,000 with a 20 car minimum and requires a $250 entry plus a $40 tech fee. Vehicles must be tagged, titled, and insured, with factory glass, body panels, and frame. A fiberglass hood is acceptable. The interior must be complete, although a back seat delete is allowed. Seats must be car seats with padding, and at least two seats are required. Headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and the factory charging system must function. Suspension must stay in the factory location, and if the car came with IRS, it must remain IRS. If the vehicle was built with a factory 4-link or ladder bar, it must stay stock with no aftermarket 4-link parts. Fuel cannot be alcohol or methanol as the primary source, though blends are allowed. Exhaust must exit to the rear end or out the back. Tires must be DOT radials, with 275s or 17 inch and larger wheels allowed on any size DOT radial. AWD is permitted on radials with 400 treadwear all around. No wheelie bars or exterior weight past the body line or bumper are allowed, and only factory-style or carbon fiber wings are permitted. A fire jacket and helmet are required, shorts are not allowed, and an engine diaper or belly pan is preferred. Small Tire awards $10,000 with a 20 car minimum, runs off the trailer, and has a $300 entry plus a $40 tech fee. Steel roofs and quarters are required unless the factory configuration differs, such as convertibles. No wheelie bars or added weight past the rear bumper are allowed. An engine diaper or belly pan is preferred. Index classes at 8.20, 7.50, 6.50, and 5.50 offer 100 percent payback, with a $150 entry and a $40 tech card per class. These classes run on a .400 pro tree, are limited to door cars, and do not allow wheelie bars or delay boxes. Parking and admission options include spectator-side general admission at $20, pit-side parking for non-racers at $50, RV daily parking without a racecar at $100, and RV parking with power at $75. A summer youth powerlifting camp in the Lytle area focuses on safe technique and smart training. It welcomes experienced young lifters who want to sharpen their skills as well as newcomers who need a foundation in gym safety and proper form. The program runs as a single eight-week session with limited spots available. A $50 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure a place. During these two months, the regular Tuesday and Thursday class will follow an adjusted schedule.

Racers earn points across a five-event series, with the top ten in each class advancing to a championship playoff at Freedom of War. The weekend includes a Friday test and tune with a $40 tech fee, followed by the Scrambler Pro Series on Saturday with racer and spectator gates opening, a drivers meeting, and racing to follow. General admission on the spectator side is $20. Pit side parking for non-racers is $50. RV daily parking without a racecar is $100, and RV parking with power is $175. Credit card purchases include a $5 convenience fee. The points system awards 35 points for passing tech, 20 points for a competition round win, and 20 points for a bye. For the first five races, class payouts and rules are as follows. Scrambler pays $5,000, uses a random index of 5.50 to 5.80 each round, has a $250 entry and $40 tech card, requires a minimum of 20 cars, runs on a 0.400 pro tree, and is limited to door cars with no wheelie bars and no delay boxes. Lil Scrambler pays $4,000, runs a random index of 6.50 to 6.80, has a $200 entry and $40 tech card, requires at least 20 cars, uses a 0.400 pro tree, and allows door cars only with no wheelie bars and no delay boxes. Baby Scrambler pays $3,000, features a 7.50 to 7.80 random index, has a $150 entry and $40 tech card, requires a 20 car minimum, uses a 0.400 pro tree, and is also limited to door cars with no wheelie bars and no delay boxes. After the fifth event, totals are calculated and the top ten in each class move on, with a finale that pays $15,000 for Scrambler, $11,000 for Lil Scrambler, and $10,000 for Baby Scrambler. An 80/20 split applies to all classes.

Start the day with song at Morning Music Camp from Chorus Abilene, hosted at Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest. Under the guidance of Children’s Chorus director Robin Davis, students entering grades K through 5 take part in singing, learning, and fun in a welcoming setting. The week concludes with a capstone performance. Tuition is $175, and scholarships are available. No prior experience is required.
