Dove hunters and clay shooters can tune up for the season with a fast, four week sporting clays league at Defender Outdoors Clay Sports Ranch. Each week features 50 scored targets, with a practice course and 5 stand available before and after your round. Course Manager Gary Madigan and Christian Daniels set a mix of enjoyable target presentations. Shooters have a flexible window each week to complete their round, from midweek through the weekend. If a scheduled evening is missed, a bank score can be made up by the end of that week, otherwise an average of two other weeks will be recorded for that week. The same approach applies to weather related cancellations. Teams consist of at least four and no more than six shooters. Weekly team totals use the top four scores including handicap. Rosters are locked after the first week. Individuals without a team will be grouped together, and each participant may compete on only one team. Handicaps are recalculated weekly using par 45. The difference between par and the shooter’s score is multiplied by 70 percent, then added back to the score, with a maximum post handicap score of 45. The league wraps up with a dinner and awards celebration. The top five shooters advance to a short final that night, with 25 additional targets added to each shooter’s league handicap total to determine the overall winner. Individual honors include high overall and runner up, A and B class winners, high junior and runner up junior, first through fourth lady, and most improved. Team awards include first, second, A class first place, and high lady team. Registration for the four week league is 180 dollars and includes the dinner and awards, with a 10 percent discount for members. Those who register before the first week are entered into a drawing for 100 free targets, and at the league party a drawing among those present awards a free entry into the next league.

The goal is to slow the progression of his disease while working toward a cure for Jax, who is 13, and for future generations. Participants can expect 100 targets and four-person teams, with awards presented for team, individual, and junior categories. Mulligans will be available for purchase. The cause also highlights the realities of MTRFR, also known as C12orf65, which can involve ataxia, optic atrophy, peripheral neuropathy, shortened lifespan, endocrine or metabolic defects, and a neuromuscular disorder.
