Come & Try It Collage in The Art Lab
Explore the art of collage by arranging paper, fabric, photographs, and other found materials to create an original piece. An instructor provides demonstrations and step-by-step guidance, with time to experiment and develop a personal style. Topics include building strong compositions that balance and flow, adding depth through textures such as fabric and thread, and using imagery to express ideas, emotions, and stories. The setting is calm and welcoming, encouraging creative exploration at a comfortable pace. Basic supplies are provided. You are welcome to bring special items from home to incorporate into your work. Open to ages 11 and up. The fee is $40 per person.
Juneteenth
A yearly Juneteenth celebration at The Spellman honors culture and history while strengthening community ties. The City of Forney partners with the Xi Delta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to present a gathering where families, local organizations, and community partners connect and celebrate together. Admission is free, and registration is encouraged.
Spellman Amphitheater2026 Garland Juneteenth Celebration
The City of Garland presents its annual Juneteenth Celebration in Downtown Garland, honoring the holiday’s history and culture with an evening of live entertainment, a car show, art displays, line dancing led by DJ Raspy, and a dedicated area for children’s activities. The festivities begin with the Flats Mosaic dedication, followed by a community procession to the square that sets the tone for the night. Performances by the Don Diego Band and Unfaded Brass Band are featured during the celebration.
Red, White & Brush Watercolor Paint Class
Celebrate creativity and the nation’s 250th birthday at a relaxing watercolor paint class in Graham, Texas. Local artist Kelli Mellema of KelMel Designs provides step-by-step guidance to create a patriotic painting featuring classic American flags with a vintage-inspired look. All supplies are provided, including a frame, and light appetizers are available. The experience is beginner friendly and welcoming to all skill levels, and participants take home a completed framed piece ready to display, with frame color varying. The cost is $40 per person, space is limited, and payment is required to reserve a spot.
