Vanessa Carlton appears at The Birchmere as she looks ahead to Veils, her seventh studio album produced by Dave Fridmann and planned for early 2026. Building on their work together on Love Is An Art from 2020, the new music explores layered identities, personal contradictions, and a growing fascination with stoic ideas. The first song shared, Animal, considers how acceptance can shift perspective and asks listeners to reflect on the untamed parts within themselves. Carlton’s path has long been defined by reinvention. A cassette demo first connected her with Ahmet Ertegun, and her breakthrough single A Thousand Miles reached the top of the charts and earned multiple Grammy nominations. The track later became the subject of a VICE documentary that received a News and Documentary Emmy nomination in 2022. Her creative range also includes a Broadway turn as Carole King in Beautiful in 2019 and her first film score, created with her husband John McCauley of Deer Tick, for Wish You Were Here directed by Julia Stiles. Kenmore Middle SchoolMarc Broussard with Sway Wild
Marc Broussard brings a rich mix of soul, blues, and rock to The Birchmere with Sway Wild. Raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, and the son of Ted Broussard, a Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist known for the Boogie Kings, he began honing his craft early in a vibrant local scene. An independent EP at 20 set the stage for his major-label debut, Carencro, whose single Home introduced him to audiences far beyond his roots. Since then, he has built a catalog defined by Southern soul, emotional honesty, and a commanding baritone, earning praise for blending Louisiana blues with high-energy rock and roll. His album S.O.S. V Songs of the ’50s revisits classic soul, blues, rock, and pop from that era, adds a couple of early 60s selections, and includes an original of his own. The release is part of his ongoing philanthropic series that supports the nonprofit Love of People in his hometown. Sway Wild shares the bill for this performance.

Astro Beer Hall ShirlingtonThe Lone Bellow - What A Time To Be Alive Tour 2026
The Lone Bellow brings its What A Time To Be Alive Tour to The Birchmere, celebrating a sixth studio album that opens a new chapter while honoring the friendships at the heart of the group. For the first time the songs were crafted collectively with the full touring lineup, as founding members Zach Williams, Brian Elmquist, and Kanene Pipkin worked with drummer Julian Dorio and multi-instrumentalist Tyler Geertsma to capture the electricity of their stage sound in music filled with warmth, honesty, and connection. Recorded live in Muscle Shoals after a writing retreat in a converted Kentucky firehouse, the record reflects on friendship, loss, love, and resilience. From the gritty opener After The Rain to the moving closing track What A Time To Be Alive, it showcases rich harmonies, heartfelt storytelling, and a blend of folk, rock, and gospel. The project endured the theft of early recordings, and the supportive response from fans underscored that these songs are a shared experience, a spirit heard in anthems like Common Folk and I'm Here For You as well as quieter moments like You Were Leaving and Night Goes Black. Since their 2013 debut, the band has appeared on The Tonight Show, Austin City Limits, and The Late Show, topped Americana charts, and headlined storied rooms from Carnegie Hall to the Ryman Auditorium, and this tour continues that commitment to music built for community.

At The Birchmere, The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston bring a storied R&B legacy to the stage. Alston, raised in Henderson, North Carolina, is the son of Rev. J. B. Alston and a nephew of Johnny Fields of the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and he developed his voice in church. As a teenager he led Gerald Alston and the New Imperials, performing both sacred and secular music, and during a local appearance met The Manhattans when they borrowed his band’s equipment. Impressed by his rehearsal, they invited the 17 year old to join, and in 1970 he became their lead singer. With Alston out front, the group reached major success throughout the 70s and 80s, including the crossover number one Kiss and Say Goodbye and a Grammy for Shining Star. After seventeen years he pursued a solo path with Motown releases such as his self titled debut and Open Invitation, followed by Always in the Mood, then First Class Only on Scotti Brothers and Street Life. He later reunited with Blue Lovett and the group for a 30th anniversary performance. This concert celebrates timeless, heartfelt soul from a voice that continues to resonate with fans.
