Alice Bag Band

CapCity Presents hosts Alice Bag Band at Wild Child for an all ages show. Advance tickets are 19.59 after fees, with day-of-show pricing at 22. The performance features Alice Bag, a punk rock singer, musician, author, educator, artist, and feminist archivist who co-founded and fronted The Bags during the early Los Angeles punk movement. Her memoir, Violence Girl, traces her path from East L.A. to the Hollywood stage and connects personal experience to a drive for empowerment through music and art. A second book, Pipe Bomb for the Soul, followed, and both titles are assigned in courses in gender, musicology, and Chicana studies. Her performance legacy has been highlighted in the Smithsonian traveling exhibition American Sabor, and her work has been profiled by PBS, NPR, and AARP, with talks at colleges including Stanford, Wellesley, and USC. Her portraits of women in punk appeared in the group show Heads Will Roll at Coagula Gallery, and her visual art was featured on NPR. Her self-titled album on Don Giovanni earned year-end recognition from AllMusic and Pitchfork, and the follow up, Blueprint, received similar honors from AllMusic, NPR, and the Los Angeles Times. She has also been recognized by the City of Los Angeles for her impact on music and activism, and her song Dolores Huerta Street helped inspire the naming of Dolores Huerta Square in Boyle Heights.
