🎧 Mixtape: An Improvised Playlist @ Unexpected Productions | Friday (9/5) at 7:30pm – This Mixtape night is karaoke’s cooler cousin, daring you to pick the vibe, lyrics, and beats. Our improv troupe and a live musician turn your wildest musical whims, pop, rap, emo ballads, show tunes, into an unforgettable playlist. No judgment, just questionable taste.
🍭 Candi Pop @ Chop Suey | Friday (9/5) at 9:00pm – Candi Pop is lighting up the dance floor with a sugar-coated nostalgia bomb: think glitter, lollipops, unicorns, and non-stop girl-power jams from Spice Girls through Britney Spears. It’s a full-on candyland rave your teenage self would die for. Vacuum cleaner at the ready.
This weekend
🏓 Pickleball For All @ Amazon Spheres | Saturday (9/6) at 9:00am – Hit the Spheres for a downtown pickleball playground on 6th Ave, with eight drop-in courts, free clinics, pop-up pro shops, kids’ crafts, plus that Instagram-famous banana stand. No club card, no lineup stress. All skill levels welcome, bring your paddle and adventure.
🎉 Nirvana Exhibition Closing Party @ Museum of Pop Culture (MOPOP) | Saturday (9/6) at 11:00am – Nothing feels more Seattle than a coat-check of punk’s relics before they ride off into history. Head over to MOPOP for one last ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ blowout with live T-shirt printing, DIY zines, film screenings, and a grunge panel that’ll have you reminiscing, headbanging.
💡 Glow Up @ ARTS at King Street | Saturday (9/6) at 3:00pm – Whether you’re in it for DJ Surreal’s beats or to craft a flower crown for Fido, this free splash of art and music at King Street Station Plaza has something for everyone. Skip your weekend couch debate and get glowing with fringe, friendship, and fun.
🌺 Festal: Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival @ Seattle Center | Sunday (9/7) at 11:00am – Think our neighborhood block party with leis in place of flame-grilled burgers. Live Hawaiian music meets sweet ono bites, a craft marketplace, workshops to teach you a hula move or two, and more. It’s a mini island escape without the airfare.
🧘 Soul Journey Sound Bath @ Balance Studio 418 North 35th Street | Sunday (9/7) at 6:00pm – Want a legit excuse to lie down in a crowd and call it self-care? Soul Journey Sound Bath lines up crystal bowls, gongs, and whispered chants to press pause on your to-do list, send you somewhere between zen and snoring. Minimal commitment, maximum chill.
🎷 Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra @ Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley | Sunday (9/7) at 7:30pm – If you’re still thinking big band jazz peaked in the ’40s, swing by Jazz Alley for four nights of hard-hitting horn honk as the local jazz vets mark season 31. Thirty musicians, surprise guests, and enough swing beats to make you grin.
✊ Mandela: The Official Exhibition @ Museum of History & Industry | Sunday (9/7) – Ditch the same old museum routine and dive into Mandela’s world at our downtown exhibit, packed with rare photos, personal letters, and a healthy dose of heroism. It’s like chatting over coffee with history’s coolest freedom fighter, minus the awkward small talk.
Next week
🎵 Sandy Mason @ Royal Room | Tuesday (9/9) at 7:30pm – Sandy Mason is swinging into town with his soulful pipes and a crack band that’ll jump from dusty jazz standards to foot-stomping jive and unexpected pop-rock nuggets.
