Hello Grants Pass! Hope your coffee tastes especially good this morning.Â
In todayâs bring-the-kiddos edition: Student wellness grant, House Bill 4084âs economic gamble, and Girls Rock 2026 + excuses to get the fam out and about this week.
Todayâs sponsor, Spot Pet Insurance, is something I wish I had before a late-night emergency vet visit left me with a $10,000 credit card bill. Itâs cheaper than Netflix⊠and means you never have to choose between your pet and your savings. It takes less than 5 minutes to sign up â get started here.

đ° In the news
Community-backed student wellness effort: Rogue River School District received a $25,000 grant from Oregon Community Foundation, via William and Florence Schneider Fund, to start a school-based health center for medical and mental health care — see what the grant funds.
Industry dreams, local limits: House Bill 4084 aims to speed permitting and expand enterprise incentives to lure employers. What that could mean for Josephine County, from recruitment hopes to workforce and infrastructure hurdles — see local impacts and details.
Soil, seeding, and grazing insights: OSU Extension is hosting a five-part Pasture Management series for landowners in 2026, with classes every other Tuesday in Central Point. Cost is $15 per class or $80 for the series — see topics, dates, and pricing.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off goldâs best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why theyâre back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains whatâs happening and how people are approaching it today. Itâs free â and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175/month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Highlights this week:

đŸ One pet emergency can cost $10,000+
Together with our sponsor Spot Pet Insurance
Nothing prepares you for a late-night emergency at the vet. I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache.
From the initial exam fee just to be seen, to x-rays, surgery, medication, and follow-up visits⊠the bill racks up fast (to say the least). And at that moment? Youâre not thinking about your savings, youâre just saying yes to whatever keeps them thriving.
As soon as we got home, I dug around online and ultimately signed up for Spot.
Itâs super affordable and reimburses up to 90% on qualified vet bills. It was too late for me, but itâs not too late for you. Sign up today.

𫶠We got your back
Share-and-sip rooftop vibes: Whether you’re grazing and sharing or savoring a cocktail with a view, the Bohemian plates bold, chef-y flavors on a breezy rooftop where Tuesday feels like an occasion. Shared bites, bright sips, and downtown energy carry the night.
Tie it all together: Rogue Fly Shop stocks flies, lines, waders, and the know-how to turn a quick river stop into a real session, plus current water intel and guided trips when youâd rather skip the guesswork. Maybe itâs time to retire that beat-up fly box.
Movie night, sorted: When the week needs an easy win, SouthGate Cinema serves fresh releases and perfectly salty popcorn. Best with a buddy; let the lights dim, your brain idle for a couple of hours, and the big screen do the mood reset.
Access cash without selling your home: A reverse mortgage can help anyone over 62 cover everyday expenses, support healthcare needs, fund home improvements, or even reduce pressure on 401(k) withdrawals â all while staying in your home. Longbridge offers a free calculator to estimate how much flexibility your home could provide, with no commitment required.

Like it or not, the internet has a way of surfacing past mistakes and outdated information that no longer reflects who you are.
