Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan continues his southern run at the Dothan Civic Center, giving Alabama audiences a close-up encounter with decades of songs. The Glass Menagerie

SEACT presents Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie at the Cultural Arts Center, a poignant story of the Wingfield family. In a modest St. Louis apartment, Amanda holds tight to memories of Southern gentility while living with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura, who lives with a physical disability and deep shyness. Tom supports the household with a shoe factory job he loathes after their father walked out. At Amanda's urging, Tom invites a gentleman from work to visit Laura, setting in motion a night that tests the illusions each of them depends on. Celebrated as a cornerstone of American theater, this drama blends tenderness and beauty with quiet heartbreak. Content advisory: adult themes, ableist and racist language associated with portrayals of Southern nostalgia and the attitudes of Amanda, and references to alcohol and drugs.

Established in memory of Savoy Jones, who passed away at age 15, the foundation has transformed loss into purpose through scholarships and local initiatives. With support from the community and local businesses over the past nine tournaments, its scholarship program has expanded from one annual award to 27 scholarships for graduating seniors across local high schools. Beyond scholarships, the foundation also supports organizations including The House of Ruth, Jeep Sullivan’s Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures, TIME Youth Dothan, New Promise Cancer Foundation, and others. This milestone tournament sets goals to fill every spot on the course and raise $100,000 across a two-day event, celebrating community spirit, generosity, and the lasting legacy of Savoy.

5th Annual Lady Luck Open & Fitz's 50th Birthday Bash!

Rob’s Place LLC hosts a two-day, ladies-only 9-ball competition now in its fifth year, paired with a celebration of Fitz’s 50th birthday. The field is limited to 48 players, and the entry fee is $50, with added money to be announced. Matches are a race to five on both sides with live scoring through Digital Pool and a double-elimination bracket. Players flip for the opening break, then alternate breaks. Competitors rack their own with an Outsville Magic Rack, and two balls must contact the 9 at the back. The 9 must be called. If it falls in the wrong pocket, it is spotted and the shooter continues from the cue ball’s position. A 9 on the break does not count and is spotted immediately. Push-outs and jump shots are allowed. There is no three-foul rule, and only cue-ball fouls are called. Slow play is not permitted. The venue is 21 and over, non-smoking, and offers a kitchen and bar. Tables include six Valley 7-footers, one Diamond 7-footer, and one Diamond 9-footer. Two optional side pots are available at $20 each, one for 474 and below and one for 475 and up. Local businesses can participate as sponsors with $100 to $250 placements on commemorative apparel, with recognition on event merchandise and materials. Players can look forward to smart competition, meeting new people, and an enjoyable atmosphere.

The 1865 Legends Ball | America: Celebrating 250 Years of Impact

The 1865 Legends Ball returns for its fifth year as a cultural black-tie fundraiser and awards celebration at the National Peanut Festival. The theme highlights how people of many nationalities, despite discrimination, genocide, slavery, and hardship, have sustained the United States and its freedoms. From Indigenous communities to the African diaspora, the program recognizes sacrifices made by heroes and the ongoing contributions of their descendants. The evening celebrates legendary men and women from communities across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, honoring 10 Legends for significant service to Black and African diasporic communities and acknowledging up to 10 Preludes, emerging talents making their mark in a range of fields. Live performances in music and spoken word showcase both enduring traditions and contemporary expression, and guests are treated to cuisine that reflects a wide span of culinary heritage. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant and the construction fund for the Juneteenth African American Museum of Art, slated to open in summer 2027.
