Partnering with Wiregrass Pet Rescue and Adoption, this adoption day at Dothan Nurseries brings together dogs who are ready for a couch, a yard, a name, and a person. Visitors can adopt on site, sign up to foster with short-term options, take a pup out for a day, or even host an overnight slumber party. Those who cannot take a dog home can still help by donating Purina dog and cat food, wet or dry. Meet the pups, share some love, and be part of their journey while you search for a new best friend.

Yoga with Tej

Yoga with Tej welcomes newcomers and experienced practitioners at Dothan Houston County Library System. Sessions draw on traditional Indian yoga practices to support whole-person health. Expect gentle movement and postures, focused breathing to cultivate energy, and mindful techniques that encourage overall well-being. Participants can work toward deeper relaxation and better sleep, improved flexibility, strength, and stamina, and support for the nervous, circulatory, digestive, and brain systems. The practice also emphasizes mental clarity, helps ease stress, anxiety, fear, and depression, and fosters self-awareness and emotional resilience. 10th Annual Savoy Jones Benefit Golf Tournament

The Savoy Jones Benefit Foundation is hosting its 10th annual golf tournament at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Highland Oaks, dedicated to honoring Savoy’s life and creating positive change in the community. Established in memory of Savoy Jones, who passed away at age 15, the foundation has transformed loss into purpose through scholarships and local initiatives. Kindermusik

Erin Joye hosts a mommy and me Kindermusik playdate at the Westgate Branch of the Dothan Houston County Library System. Designed for babies from birth to 2 years, this interactive class uses music, movement, and sensory play to support neurocognitive growth and whole-child development. Infants and caregivers will explore baby-safe instruments and tactile props, along with full-body activities guided by rhythm and song. The experience is structured to be both educational and therapeutic. Registration is required because space is limited, and each child must be accompanied by a caregiver.

The House of Ruth’s In Bloom Gala

A bloom-themed fundraising ball from The House of Ruth returns to Windmill Station, featuring a flower bouquet station, silent and live auctions, and food and music, all in support of the nonprofit. Tickets purchased for the previously scheduled November 2025 gala will transfer to this event.

Armed Forces Day Freedom Ride

Take part in a Freedom Ride supporting Veterans Helping Veterans and Community. The route begins at Harley-Davidson of Dothan, follows the Circle, and concludes at the National Peanut Festival grounds, where the Freedom Ignited Celebration will be happening throughout the day. The cost is $20 per rider, with an additional $5 for extras. All proceeds go directly to Veterans Helping Veterans and Community, a 501(c)(3) that assists veterans in the Wiregrass area with needs such as vehicles, food assistance, construction of handicap ramps, and rides to medical appointments.

Freedom Ignited

Friends of Army Aviation will provide rides to attendees during Armed Forces Day Freedom Ignited in Dothan, Alabama. These flights operate with the doors open, creating a distinctive open air flight experience.

5th Annual Lady Luck Open & Fitz's 50th Birthday Bash!

Rob’s Place LLC hosts a two-day, ladies-only 9-ball competition now in its fifth year, paired with a celebration of Fitz’s 50th birthday. The field is limited to 48 players, and the entry fee is $50, with added money to be announced. Matches are a race to five on both sides with live scoring through Digital Pool and a double-elimination bracket. Players flip for the opening break, then alternate breaks. Competitors rack their own with an Outsville Magic Rack, and two balls must contact the 9 at the back. The 9 must be called. If it falls in the wrong pocket, it is spotted and the shooter continues from the cue ball’s position. A 9 on the break does not count and is spotted immediately. Push-outs and jump shots are allowed. There is no three-foul rule, and only cue-ball fouls are called. Slow play is not permitted. The venue is 21 and over, non-smoking, and offers a kitchen and bar. Tables include six Valley 7-footers, one Diamond 7-footer, and one Diamond 9-footer. Two optional side pots are available at $20 each, one for 474 and below and one for 475 and up. Local businesses can participate as sponsors with $100 to $250 placements on commemorative apparel, with recognition on event merchandise and materials. Players can look forward to smart competition, meeting new people, and an enjoyable atmosphere.

The 1865 Legends Ball | America: Celebrating 250 Years of Impact

The 1865 Legends Ball returns for its fifth year as a cultural black-tie fundraiser and awards celebration at the National Peanut Festival. The theme highlights how people of many nationalities, despite discrimination, genocide, slavery, and hardship, have sustained the United States and its freedoms. From Indigenous communities to the African diaspora, the program recognizes sacrifices made by heroes and the ongoing contributions of their descendants. The evening celebrates legendary men and women from communities across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, honoring 10 Legends for significant service to Black and African diasporic communities and acknowledging up to 10 Preludes, emerging talents making their mark in a range of fields. Live performances in music and spoken word showcase both enduring traditions and contemporary expression, and guests are treated to cuisine that reflects a wide span of culinary heritage. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant and the construction fund for the Juneteenth African American Museum of Art, slated to open in summer 2027.

Young artists ages 5 to 8 spend a week blending story time with hands-on creativity. Each day begins with a read aloud, then, with guidance from Janin Wise, campers create a project inspired by that day’s book. Throughout the week they explore a range of artistic mediums and styles, building skills, stretching their imaginations, and celebrating a love of reading and art. Crossfire Summer Kids Camps (June Session)
