The History of Country Music

Led by entertainer Rusty Jackson, this live show traces country music’s story from 1927 through 1977. It opens with the early days of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and the landmark Bristol Sessions, blending songs and narrative to spotlight pioneers such as Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family. The journey heads west to the swing of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, moves into honky-tonk shaped by Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams, and continues with influential voices like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and more. Spanning five decades, it honors the music and the lives behind it, highlighting resilience, faith, grit, and a spirit that influenced generations. Presented at Bullhead City Parks and Recreation Division, the experience pairs concert energy with rich storytelling and offers timeless songs performed live along with the tales that shaped them.
