Summer Swim & Pickle Ball Camp!
Kids ages 8 to 16 can dive into a blend of pickleball training and pool fun in this Oro Valley summer program. Geared toward young players who already know the fundamentals, the pickleball sessions emphasize real skill building with coaching, smaller groups, and plenty of on-court action across four days. Each participant receives a camp T-shirt and a certificate of completion. Pool time includes open swim with an outdoor slide, and lifeguards are on duty. Participants should wear proper swim attire and bring a towel, sunscreen, and a packed lunch. Sessions run Monday through Thursday. Drop off is at The Picklr Oro Valley, and pickup is at the Thad Terry Aquatic Center at the Northwest YMCA. DiBella’s Brunch N’ Booze hosts a beginner friendly cookie decorating class focused on the fundamentals of decorated sugar cookies. A live instructor guides participants through royal icing basics, piping practice, and decorating strategies, with techniques such as marbling, outlining, and wet on wet. All supplies are provided, including pre-baked cookies and pre-mixed icing. Each person decorates six cookies with four icing colors and sprinkles using the tools supplied, then takes the finished set home in a box to dry for 24 to 48 hours. This experience is open to ages 12 and up. Attendees under 16 must participate with a parent or caregiver, and alcoholic beverages are available for guests 21 and older. The venue offers food and drinks for purchase with table-side service. Optional take-home kits that mirror the class are available as add-ons and are picked up after the session. No baking experience is needed. An apron or easy-to-wash clothing can be helpful, and those who use glasses may want them if following along with on-screen visuals. Photos are welcome. Allergy note: cookies contain flour, sugar, butter, egg, baking powder, salt, vanilla, and milk, and the royal icing includes meringue powder, powdered sugar, food coloring, and water. The route heads west on Tangerine Road to the I-10 frontage road and continues north past Picacho Peak, where the road becomes Camino Adelante. Follow Camino Adelante to Arizona 287 into Coolidge for a stop at the Circle K at AZ 287 and AZ 87, reaching this break after about 65 miles and roughly an hour and 15 minutes on the road. Continue on AZ 287 toward Florence, turn south on AZ 79 toward Catalina, connect with AZ 77 south, and return to Fork and Fire for lunch. The full loop covers about 125 miles and takes approximately 3 hours.

A recurring last-Saturday car show invites enthusiasts to register on the day of the event only, with a $15 entry fee per vehicle. Trophies span many classes, including best classic truck, known as the Big John, best modern truck, specialty, classic, modern, classic muscle, modern muscle, classic import or compact or tuner, modern import or compact or tuner, sports car, recognized by the Akers Award, street rod, work in progress, best of show, called Charlies Cup, people’s choice, kids choice, vets choice, referred to as Bullet, Freddy’s or Obsessions choice, best Ford, best GM, best Mopar, best foreign, and a club participation award presented only in February, April, June, August, October, and December. Participants and spectators are asked to follow event guidelines by respecting parking attendants, keeping alcohol off the premises, avoiding excessive revving, burnouts, and tire squealing, helping keep the lot clean, refraining from arguments or fighting, respecting others’ property, watching children and pets, keeping music volumes reasonable, flying drones only with consent from Obsessions Car Club, and entering and leaving the event in a considerate manner.

Take on the trails at Catalina State Park with a 9.3 mile race and a 5k trail option. The longer route begins on the Nature Trail, continues onto the Bridal Trail, climbs the 50-Year Trail for 2.7 miles to a gate turnaround, then descends and returns to the Bridal Trail for the finish. The 9.3 mile event is open to runners only. The 5k welcomes runners and walkers and takes place on the Nature and Bridal Trails. Expect varied terrain along the way.
