Voice Awakening - Reclaim Your Power

Casey Shaw and Kati Astraeir guide an evening of breathwork, mantra, and vocal exploration designed to help participants reconnect with the natural power of their voice. The experience opens with gentle breathing practices and a guided meditation to calm the nervous system, quiet the mind, and settle into the body. From there, heart-centered mantra and call-and-response chanting with harmonium gradually awaken the voice in a supportive, devotional setting. As the shared space deepens, the group moves into intuitive vocal exploration that moves beyond words into authentic sound. This playful and freeing process supports the release of inhibition and invites genuine expression, emotional flow, and inner truth to be voiced. The gathering concludes with a collaborative sound healing journey, blending layered tones, intuitive vocals, and resonant instruments to foster deep relaxation and integration. Together, these practices balance structure and spontaneity, devotion and freedom, allowing the voice to serve as a bridge between breath, body, heart, and spirit. Open to every voice, no prior singing experience is required. Casey is a multifaceted artist and longtime harmonium player who shares devotional music inspired by the Kirtan tradition. She leads trauma-sensitive yoga, women’s gatherings, flow coaching, live music, kirtan, and teaches mantra and harmonium. Kati is a visionary artist, sound healer, and musician with years of experience hosting musicians and guiding sound journeys, offering an intuitive, presence-based approach to vocal activation that invites direct, experiential connection with the wisdom of the voice. Vestiges: What Remains — A Watercolor Exhibition by Jeanne Ramsey

Jeanne Ramsay presents a contemplative watercolor exhibition on the Robert & Helen Jennette Gallery Wall at SAWG Gallery. Originating in close observations of old trucks, roadside structures, and other weathered scenes of the Southwest, these paintings shift attention from the subjects themselves to what they carry... memory, the passage of time, signs of use, and the hint of disappearance. Inspired by sun-faded paint, oxidized metal, fleeting reflections, and small fragments of daily life, Ramsay builds atmosphere through layered washes, soft edges, and spacious compositions. The work encourages a slower look, inviting viewers to notice quiet traces left by people and places and to bring their own meaning to what remains. Ramsay is an Arizona-based watercolor artist and an exhibiting member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, Tubac Center of the Arts, and the Arizona Watercolor Association.

Cabaret - Part of Hollywood Classics!

Weekly screenings at The Loft Cinema celebrate classic Hollywood on the big screen. This presentation features Bob Fosse’s Cabaret, the 1972 American film adaptation of the hit stage musical drawn from Christopher Isherwood’s semi-autobiographical stories. The story follows Brian, an inexperienced writer who arrives in 1931 Berlin and is captivated by the free-spirited Sally Bowles, with Michael York, Liza Minnelli, and Joel Grey in standout roles. Inside the Kit Kat Club, a provocative Emcee presides over a crowd more intent on pleasure than on the rising threat of the Nazi party, and the deepening relationship between Brian and Sally is tested as harsh realities intrude on their bohemian world. Fosse’s distinctive choreography powers memorable musical set pieces, and the film received eight Academy Awards, including Best Director for Fosse, Best Actress for Liza Minnelli, and Best Supporting Actor for Joel Grey. USA, 124 minutes. Rated PG.

Guided Meditation: What is your true nature (hint, you are good)

This guided meditation session centers on the whole-body smile, a practice that helps uncover a naturally joyful ease beneath everyday heaviness, brain fog, and worry. The approach invites an effortless, peaceful state that is already present, and with repeated practice it can become a more familiar way of being. The session is welcoming to both long-time spiritual seekers and those completely new to meditation. Over about ninety minutes, the instructor leads seated practice and explores rotating themes such as discovering true nature with the reminder that goodness is innate, compassion amid a turbulent world, reasons to meditate, mindful movement, meditation that does not rely on willpower, and the possibility of profound healing from trauma. Chairs are available for up to 15 people, and participants may bring a mat or cushion if they prefer. If conditions allow, practice may take place outdoors on a shaded patio. The session is led by Lindsay Kriebel of Open Heart Sangha, who has practiced with Open Heart for nearly five years following a decade of trying many self-help approaches to address addiction, depression, and social anxiety. Lindsay emphasizes simple methods like cultivating compassion and also works as a librarian serving law students at the University of Arizona.

Juno | An Astrology Workshop w. Mike Lazear & CB

Explore Juno through a fresh lens in an astrology workshop with Mike Lazear and CB at The Ninth House in Midtown Tucson. Rather than reducing this goddess to jealousy or obligation, the session treats Juno as a guide to confidence in committed relationships and the standards you know you deserve. The group will look at Juno by sign and house to uncover the agreements you tend to form, the patterns that surface when needs go unmet, and practical ways to ask for what you need without shrinking yourself to keep the peace. The shadow side is part of the work too... naming the imbalances you repeat and the devotion that can slide into self-erasure, because visibility creates agency and opens the door to change. Participants leave with a clear understanding of their own Juno placement and tools to articulate needs, recognize moments of self-abandonment, and value reciprocity as a cornerstone of partnership. Birth charts are provided. This workshop opens the Goddess Asteroid Series, which continues with Vesta, Ceres, and Pallas.

ArtDontSleep presents JAZZ IS DEAD w/ MARCOS VALLE

KXCI and ArtDontSleep present Jazz Is Dead with Marcos Valle, the Brazilian singer, songwriter, and producer whose career bridges bossa nova, MPB, funk, and jazz fusion. Valle studied classical music while immersing himself in jazz, began writing with his brother Paulo Sérgio as lyricist, and quickly earned national recognition after Tamba Trio scored a hit with one of his early compositions. His second album, O Compositor e o Cantor, became a touchstone, and its single Samba de Verão inspired countless cover versions. International collaborations and releases followed, including celebrated recordings like Samba ’68 and the groove-rich Garra, as his sound evolved to embrace rock influences, bass-driven rhythms, and smooth funk without losing his melodic core. Later, renewed attention from the rare-groove scene led to retrospectives and new projects, among them Nova Bossa Nova, Sempre with notable guest musicians, and Cinzento featuring collaborations across Brazil’s contemporary music community. Valle also partnered with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad for the Jazz Is Dead series, creating new music that threads together samba, bossa, MPB, and psychedelic funk, including a duet with Patricia Alvi. This is a standing room only show, with seating included for High Top Tables for 4 and Stage View Seating ticket types. The event is open to ages 16 and up, and attendees under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Angel Parking may be available as an add-on during checkout.
