Hosted by Humboldt Grange #501, this community breakfast welcomes neighbors in south Eureka. The menu features two styles of scrambled eggs with a choice of pancakes or biscuits and gravy, plus sausage. Beverages include coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice. Suggested donations are $10 for a large plate and $7 for a small plate, and children under 5 eat for free. Clean out your closet and discover new-to-you pieces at a clothing swap and Halloween costume event. You may bring up to one bag or box of clothes, and you can take as much as you like. Bringing items is not required to participate, so you can still take what you want even if you do not bring anything. Please do not bring kids clothing, socks, undergarments, or items that are dirty or damaged. Halloween costumes of any size, from infant to adult, are included.

The Undercovers deliver a high-energy set of danceable covers from a four-piece lineup of multi-instrumentalists who came together in 2014 to create a different kind of cover band for listeners of all ages. A casual mixer at Start Up Humboldt kicks off the Redwood Coast Region Economic Summit. This friendly gathering brings people together to connect and network at the outset of the summit.

Explore West Coast Swing each Wednesday at Redwood Raks Collective in Arcata. This 90-minute session begins with approachable fundamentals for newcomers, then steadily builds skills with added variations as the class progresses. Pricing options include a $15 drop-in or a 5-class pass for $50.

The Redwood Coast Region Economic Summit returns to the Arcata Community Center for a two-day program centered on the theme Rural Innovation: Build, Connect, Grow. Leaders, businesses, and community members from Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, and Trinity counties, together with neighboring tribal lands, come together to advance innovation and strengthen regional collaboration. The agenda emphasizes manufacturing, purposeful networking, and cross-sector partnership, with discussions on building from the region’s legacy into the future, from niche production to food and beverage, while supporting emerging industries and deepening connections across the Redwood Coast. A Farm to Table Dinner is planned for Thursday evening, presented by the Arcata Chamber, Humboldt Made, and the North Coast Growers Association, and requires an additional ticket. The summit will also open with a Welcome Event at Start Up Humboldt, hosted by the Arcata Chamber, Start Up Humboldt, and Humboldt Made. Those who stay longer will find a full weekend of events taking place across Humboldt County. More details will be shared soon.

Two family support groups are available. One meets in Eureka at Humboldt Plaza, which shares a parking lot with the new DMV office, and it is offered in person and on Zoom. To find the entrance, go to the left side of the building and look for the sidewalk sandwich board that reads NAMI Humboldt family support. The second group meets in Redway at the Redway Family Resource Center, with both in person and Zoom options. The resource center is on the Redway School site, just across the field. Enjoy a back-to-basics evening of crafting. Bring a project you are already working on, or choose a project that will be provided. This session is led by GLC staff.

Latin Dance Eureka offers a class followed by social dancing and practica at The Veterans Memorial Building of Eureka. The class style rotates on a two-month cycle throughout the year, with rumba in January and February, bachata in March and April, salsa in May and June, cha cha in July and August, salsa in September and October, and bachata in November and December. Admission is $10 for both the class and social, and those who attend only the social can contribute a suggested $2 donation. All dancers are welcome, no partner is required, and cash is preferred.

Enjoy karaoke on Thursdays and Sundays with a catalog of more than 59,000 songs and a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where all experience levels are encouraged to take the mic. Named Best Karaoke in the NCJ readers poll, it is a social setting for singing with friends or meeting new people. A two drink minimum applies at the bar, which offers house infused cocktails, non alcoholic mocktails, fine teas, craft beer and cider on tap, local wines, and hot food. This event is for ages 21 and over.
