Presented by Eureka Community Services and the Humboldt County Library, this free outdoor story time brings early literacy to Sequoia Park. Preschoolers will enjoy a lively mix of talking, singing, reading, early writing activities, and playful movement in the fresh air. The program is designed for children ages 2 to 6 with a caregiver, and other family members are welcome to participate. Seating takes place on the grass, so consider bringing a folding chair or picnic blanket. A limited number of blankets will be available to borrow.

Learn West Coast Swing at Redwood Raks Collective in Arcata during a Wednesday class that lasts an hour and a half. Instruction starts with fundamental steps so newcomers feel comfortable, then adds more challenging material at a steady pace. Drop in for $15, or choose a 5 class pass for $50.00.

Two NAMI family support groups are available, with options to participate in person or on Zoom. One meets in Eureka at Humboldt Plaza, the building that shares a parking lot with the new DMV office. Enter on the left side and look for the sidewalk sandwich board that reads NAMI Humboldt family support. The other meets in Redway at the Redway Family Resource Center, located with Redway School just across the field. These gatherings are free and confidential, and community members are welcome. Latin Dance Eureka brings a class followed by open social dancing and practica to The Veterans Memorial Building of Eureka. The style taught rotates every two months: January and February focus on Rumba, March and April on Bachata, May and June on Salsa, July and August on Cha Cha, September and October on Salsa, and November and December on Bachata. Admission is $10 for both the class and social. Those attending only the social are invited to make a $2 suggested donation. All experience levels are welcome, no partner is required, and cash is preferred.

Thursdays and Sundays feature karaoke with a catalog of more than 59,000 songs in a welcoming setting for singers of every ability. Recognized as Best Karaoke in NCJ’s reader’s poll since 2016, it offers a friendly night out to bring friends or meet new people. A two drink minimum applies at the bar, which serves house infused cocktails, nonalcoholic mocktails, fine teas, craft beer and ciders on tap, and local wines. Hot food is available. This event is for ages 21 and up.

Gain practical lifesaving skills in a blended CPR, AED, and First Aid certification course. Begin with required online lessons, then attend an in-person skills check with a certified instructor to demonstrate what you have learned and earn an official Red Cross certificate. The course is designed for ages 16 and up and covers how to act quickly in emergencies, including CPR and basic injury care. The fee is $70, or $73 for non-residents. A relaxed LEGO lounge transforms the classroom into a hands-on building space. Spend some creative time side by side with your kiddo before Friday Night Drop Off. Free for members and included with admission.

Pop folk artist and singer songwriter Michelle Lambert brings her Fall Tour to the Historic Eagle House Ballroom for an inspiring evening of music. Expect an upbeat, high-energy set packed with catchy pop melodies, heartfelt originals, and the magnetic stage presence that keeps audiences engaged. Fresh from a 40 show run across the Western states last year, she showcases commanding vocals, dynamic violin features, and a contagious energy designed to get people dancing, smiling, and celebrating. Raised in Northern California and educated at Berklee College of Music, Lambert has built an independent pop career with chart-topping moments on Indie Radio and a feature in the San Francisco Giants City Connect campaign as a Bay Area artist. After honing her craft in Nashville and Los Angeles, she returned to the Bay Area to tour under her own banner, recognized for commanding vocals, skilled violin work, and bold, colorful stagewear. She pairs striking visuals with candid, emotional storytelling that highlights creativity, resilience, and the drive to chase big dreams. Tickets are $20.

Enjoy karaoke at Time Out Restaurant and Sports Bar. All ages are welcome and admission is free. Expect an upbeat atmosphere with friendly faces and food from the restaurant, a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Humboldt Grange #501 hosts a community breakfast featuring two varieties of scrambled eggs, your choice of pancakes or biscuits with gravy, and sausage. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice are available. Suggested donations are $10 for a large plate and $7 for a small plate, and children under 5 eat free.
