Los Anarchists Junior Derby Open Try-Outs 2026
Open try-outs invite junior derby skaters to show what they can do on the track, whether aiming for competition on a bigger stage, local bouts, or a recreational experience. Eligible participants are ages 5 to 17, all genders, and all skill levels. The session takes place at the CA National Guard Armory in Burbank. Skaters can learn where they might fit within the program’s teams, including LA Havoc, a beginning competitive team that plays local bouts in Southern California, LA Revolt, an intermediate team that competes locally and travels for tournaments in the Western region, and the Travel Team, an advanced JRDA charter team that plays sanctioned bouts in both female and open divisions locally and regionally. Please bring black and white scrimmage shirts with numbers, skates, a helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, a mouth guard, water, a yoga mat, a towel, sneakers, and a snack. This opportunity is open to skaters inside and outside the league. There is no cost to try out and no obligation. Only skaters and registered volunteers will be admitted.

At the Troubadour, the Appalachian Smoke Tour spotlights Mountain Grass Unit, a Birmingham, Alabama quartet pushing bluegrass forward with instrumental fire, rich four-part vocals, and spontaneous interplay. The lineup features Drury Anderson on mandolin and vocals, Luke Black on guitar and vocals, Josiah Nelson on fiddle and vocals, and Sam Wilson on bass and vocals. After introducing their sound with the 2024 EP Runnin’ From Trouble, the group surged the following year with close to 100 national dates, more than thirty sold-out headliners, and memorable sets at Telluride Bluegrass, DelFest, Northlands, and WinterWonderGrass. National media took notice, with coverage from Rolling Stone, Saving Country Music, Paste, Relix, and No Depression, and the band earned the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Artist of the Year honor during IBMA week. They are in the studio on a full-length album planned for late summer and have recently toured in support of The Infamous Stringdusters and Kitchen Dwellers, while sharing stages with Billy Strings and Greensky Bluegrass.
