Now in its 11th season traveling the American West, this series trades the concert hall for wild places like mountains, old-growth forests, and sunny meadows. Pianist Hunter Noack performs on a 9-foot Steinway concert grand while listeners use wireless headphones and are welcome to move about so the landscape becomes the soundtrack. This appearance is the second of two at Griffith Park.

Alicia Witt brings her Los Angeles album release show to The Mint LA, highlighting Between Heaven and Earth, a profoundly personal new collection released via Thirty Tigers. Cut live in New York with producer Joe Henry and an ensemble gathered solely for these sessions, the music sits between the transcendent and the intimately felt, shaped by Witt’s long relationship to the work and memory of David Lynch that reaches back to her early role in Dune. Across the record she explores connection, gratitude, healing, surrender, nostalgia, fate, and longing through a steady optimism and a belief in love that endures without conditions. Made in four days with singers and players recorded together and very few overdubs, the performances lean into instinct and chemistry. Witt describes reaching a creative state through Transcendental Meditation, prayer, and the flow of the studio, allowing songs to arrive in the moment. The title track traces a mystical spark with someone new and the faith to dream. Artifacts lets go of old lessons and relearns how to love. Kindred imagines barriers dissolving in light and destiny. Build Me A Dream looks at creating the reality we want and recognizing an eternal bond. Freeze Frame, Test Drive, and Blue Moon consider alternate paths, memory, and the calm that comes with accepting connections that do not last. Thank You, featuring John Paul White, reframes heartbreak as appreciation for what it made possible. Love Anyway centers on offering care even when it is not returned. The Director closes the album as a bonus track, framed as a direct conversation with Lynch and captured in a single uninterrupted take that surfaced during a lunch break on the final day in the studio. Known for work across film, television, and stage, Witt is also a classically trained pianist who supported herself as a musician after moving to Los Angeles. Her catalog includes Revisionary History, The Conduit, and I Think I’m Spending Christmas With You, with Between Heaven and Earth marking the next chapter in that journey.
