August 2026 SCV Puzzle Swap

Swap jigsaw puzzles with fellow puzzlers in the parking lot at Claim Jumper, on the side behind Vons. Check in when you arrive so the organizer can note your name, what you are wearing, and where you parked, and pick up a name tag. Set your boxes out in your trunk, on a small folding table, or on the ground, then walk around to see what others have brought. If you spot a puzzle you want, speak with its owner to arrange an exchange rather than taking it outright. Label each box with a sticky note that includes your name and whether it is complete, has missing pieces, or was not finished by you. Extra notes, pens, and name tags will be available, and bringing your own is appreciated. To keep pieces safe, bag them inside the box or tape the box shut, and take puzzles apart before trading. Swapping tends to move quickly, so arriving early can help, but there will still be plenty to choose from later, including a table with free selections. Any trade that both parties agree to is welcome, with a suggestion to exchange items of similar quality or value. Be courteous and have fun, and stop by the admin tables for Alyssa or Niki with questions or to get a name tag. If this is your first swap, let someone know and help will be offered.

SoCal Games Day 96

SoCal Games Day 96 brings a public convention-style open gaming gathering to the Little White Chapel Social Hall in Burbank. Expect tables filled with Euro-style favorites alongside party, family, and card games, plus a prize table drawing where you must be present to claim a prize. It is a welcoming setting to meet fellow players and spend the day exploring a wide mix of titles. Admission is $10 per adult and cash only, since electronic payment options are not available. Street parking is available, and attendees who are able are asked to use those spaces so the lot can remain open for those who need closer access. Many participants bring games to share. If you bring your own, label them with your name, treat them with care, and return each one to the correct stack, as there may be multiple copies of popular games. Outside food and drinks are welcome, with a simple clean-up-after-yourself policy. Large bottles of water will be provided, so bringing a refillable bottle is encouraged. Guests may bring their own sodas or pick some up nearby, and a refrigerator is available for a few beverages. Pre-arranged private game sales can be delivered at the event. Commercial selling is not allowed, and unscheduled for-sale piles are not permitted because table space is limited. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and plan for a future gathering. Yächtley Crëw With Fifi & The Valley Cats

Live music returns to the Starlight Bowl with an evening that pairs Yächtley Crëw and Fifi & The Valley Cats as part of the Back Under The Stars season. The open-air hillside amphitheater welcomes the Burbank community for memorable nights beneath the night sky. Yächtley Crëw, a seven-piece band from Southern California also known as The Titans of Soft Rock, rose from local clubs to spark a nationwide wave of Yacht Rock. Performing in nautical attire and captain hats, they bring smooth, singalong favorites to the stage. The lineup features drummer Rob Jones, bassist Chaz Ruiz, guitarist Thomas Gardner Jr., backing vocalist Curt Clendenin, saxophone and flute player Paul Pate, keyboardist Matt Grossman, and new lead singer Ian Ward. Ward adds commanding lead vocals and a broad performance background across theater, television, and international stages, with credits that include Broadway’s Rock of Ages, RENT, American Idiot, and Footloose, plus Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Cynthia Erivo and Adam Lambert. He is a Golden Ticket recipient on American Idol and has collaborated with Sir Tim Rice, Idina Menzel, Pat Benatar, and Cyndi Lauper.
