The Pomona Concert Band brings its 79th annual summer series to a close at the Palomares Park Community Center with a program that traces 250 years of American music. Led by Artistic Director and Conductor Linda W. Taylor with Assistant Conductor Kerry Kline, and hosted by Paula Lantz, the concert honors the nation’s musical heritage with a liberty-inspired march, a fantasia on sea songs, a cherished folk tune, a sparkling trumpet feature, melodies from a favorite fairy tale about a beauty and a beast, a salute to the armed services, and a rousing Sousa finale. Sponsored by the City of Pomona, the ensemble unites musicians from Pomona and more than twenty nearby communities. Founded in 1947 by G. Stanton Selby, the band has represented the city in many appearances, including international tours in the 1980s and a 2015 performance at the Association of Concert Bands convention in Sacramento. Admission to the series is free, and a concession stand will be available. Concerts are being held at Palomares Park this season because the Ganesha Park bandshell is undergoing emergency repairs.

MLC Band appears at Misty's Lounge & Bar, and admission is free.

Marking its 25th year, this free workshop focuses on practical ways to maintain, restore, and appreciate older homes. Membership is not required to attend. Donations for the silent auction are welcome, with pickup available by arrangement or items can be brought the morning of the workshop.

Blacklight Run returns to Pomona at The Pomona Fairplex with a night run centered on glowing color and a lively party atmosphere. This 5K is not timed, so runners and walkers can take it at their own pace while moving through sections where neon hues light up under powerful blacklights. It welcomes all ages and suits families, groups of friends, and anyone who enjoys a fun run experience. Wear white with bright accents to maximize the glow, enjoy thumping music along the course, and cap it all off at the finish with a celebration featuring a DJ, dancing, bursts of color, and countless photo moments. Complimentary registration is available for a limited time, and the event is known to sell out quickly.
