This open mic takes place in the Ontario Improv showroom and features unassigned seating that is filled in arrival order, with special accommodations available for groups and premium booths. Guests must be 21 or older to attend, and ticket prices range from free to five dollars. Everyone in the showroom is required to purchase at least one item. Part of the Pomona Concert Band’s 79th Annual Summer Concert Series at the Palomares Park Community Center, this program spotlights Conductor Favorites led by Artistic Director and Conductor Linda W. Taylor and hosted by columnist David Allen. The music reflects selections Taylor has cherished with the ensemble, including Toccata for Band, On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss, Sousa’s Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Days of Wine and Roses, and Marching Down Broadway. Presented with support from the City of Pomona, admission is free and a concession stand will be available. The season is being held at Palomares Park because the Ganesha Park Bandshell is unavailable due to repair work. Founded in 1947 by G. Stanton Selby, the Pomona Concert Band brings together musicians from Pomona and over twenty nearby communities, under the leadership of Linda W. Taylor with assistant conductor Kerry Kline.
