This weekend in Redding, CA

Now in its second year, this Redding model train show brings together an extensive selection of model displays and a variety of vendors. Attendees can explore the exhibits and browse vendor booths throughout the show.

Join the Turtle Bay Nursery team to create your own two-gallon miniature terrarium garden. Led by Senior Horticulturist and Nursery Specialist Linda Russo, the workshop includes a discussion on plant and soil care, plus all the supplies and the 2-gallon glass terrarium vessel you’ll use to build your one-of-a-kind garden.

Savor sweet treats with coffee, tea, and water while connecting through easygoing conversation. The setting invites relaxation, fun, and the freedom to be your authentic self.

Redding City Ballet is holding auditions for its Chance 2 Dance program, which supports students in 3rd to 5th grade with a full year of ballet training. Scholarship tiers include full, 75%, and 50% options based on demonstrated need, and selected students may be eligible for roles in Redding City Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker and its Spring Performance. Pre-registration is required, and families should bring household estimated gross monthly income and a list of household dependents to confirm eligibility. Auditions run for students ages 8 to 10, and accepted participants commit to attending ballet classes twice a week.

Now in its sixth year, Flows By The River brings one of Northern California’s major showcases of local live music to Whistle Stop Park. The festival moves from daytime into the evening with performances by local artists, a variety of food trucks, and shopping from local vendors, creating a lively riverside atmosphere centered on community and culture. All ages are welcome, with parental discretion advised, and children 3 and under receive free admission. Tickets are available.

Experience heads-up drag racing in a no-eliminations format where participants choose their opponents and make repeated runs on the historic Redding Dragstrip. Street machines, dedicated race cars, motorcycles, and other driveway-ready vehicles are all part of the action, with straightforward starts and plenty of chances to line up again.

A free live trivia game takes place at Branch House Riverfront Bistro along the Sacramento River. Teams of all sizes and ages are welcome, and prizes are awarded to the winners.
