Not My Fault - An SCCA Road Rally

An SCCA time-speed-distance tour rally follows the path of the San Andreas fault, focusing on precision driving without navigational tricks. The route covers about 120 miles of scenic, winding roads with planned stops in Acton and Palmdale. The start is at Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders, and the finish is at La Cabana Mexican Restaurant, where results, stories, and celebrations wrap up the day. Suitable for both newcomers and experienced teams, the goal is to maintain set average speeds along a defined course. Teams need a street-legal vehicle in good working order, a driver and a navigator, and a smartphone. Timing and scoring use the Richta GPS Competitor app, so no additional timing equipment is required. This rally also counts toward the Southern California Road Rally Championship, and a beginner-friendly how-to guide is available on the organizer’s website.

August 2026 SCV Puzzle Swap

Swap jigsaw puzzles with fellow puzzlers in the parking lot at Claim Jumper, on the side behind Vons. Check in when you arrive so the organizer can note your name, what you are wearing, and where you parked, and pick up a name tag. Set your boxes out in your trunk, on a small folding table, or on the ground, then walk around to see what others have brought. If you spot a puzzle you want, speak with its owner to arrange an exchange rather than taking it outright. Label each box with a sticky note that includes your name and whether it is complete, has missing pieces, or was not finished by you. Extra notes, pens, and name tags will be available, and bringing your own is appreciated. To keep pieces safe, bag them inside the box or tape the box shut, and take puzzles apart before trading. Swapping tends to move quickly, so arriving early can help, but there will still be plenty to choose from later, including a table with free selections. Any trade that both parties agree to is welcome, with a suggestion to exchange items of similar quality or value. Be courteous and have fun, and stop by the admin tables for Alyssa or Niki with questions or to get a name tag. If this is your first swap, let someone know and help will be offered.
