After his first wife died, Kellogg created the mansion as a gift for his second wife, Helen, and his fascination with tall ships inspired a three-story spiral staircase that wraps around a central mast with a bottomless crow’s nest. Hiram died in 1921, and Helen remained for another 42 years before passing away in the same home. Today, reports of unexplained activity suggest the Kellogg family may still be present in this uniquely designed residence.
