The Patriot Ice CenterJames McMurtry & The Martial Law Review with special guest Betty Soo
James McMurtry crafts songs that feel like fully lived-in stories, and onstage he pulls the audience right into them. Touring with The Martial Law Review, he brings keen-edged writing and a band that moves with the force of a quick-rising West Texas storm. The set brims with vivid portraits of small-town figures, restless drifters, and dreamers that linger long after the last chord. A gravelly voice rides electric guitars, and dry humor cuts cleanly through the darker corners. Named as an early influence by Jason Isbell and Sarah Jarosz, McMurtry has refined a sound that sits between barroom Americana and literary storytelling carried by a steady backbeat, resulting in performances that are sharp, wry, and deeply human. The Martial Law Review features Tim Holt on guitar, Cornbread on bass, and Daren Hess on drums alongside McMurtry. Special guest Betty Soo joins the bill. Live at Elkton Music Hall.

Grain Exchange on STAR CampusNorth Mississippi All Stars
North Mississippi All Stars bring the story and sound of a band rooted in North Mississippi’s musical community. Formed by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in 1996, the group grew out of a collaborative scene shaped by their father Jim Dickinson and neighborhood influences that include R.L. Since hitting the road in 1998, the lineup has welcomed collaborators such as Cedric, Duwayne and Garry Burnside, Chris Chew, Berry Oakley Jr, Oteil Burbruidgem, Joey Williams of the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Ray Ray Hollowman, guitarist for Eminem and Nee-O. Following their 2000 debut, they have appeared alongside artists like Phil Lesh, Mavis Staples, Robert Plant, John Hiatt, the Allman Brothers, the Black Crowes, Buddy Guy, Snoop Dogg, and Jon Spencer, earning multiple Grammy nominations for a boundary-pushing style they describe as Modern Mississippi Music.
